I cannot recommend Rivas more highly.

Not service related but I was broken down due to a tire blow out on the side of a very tight/bad spot of highway 680 during rush hour commute. A truck driven by employees of Rivas Tree Service pulled in with their hazards and safely offered to assist me with my vehicle. I had already dialed freeway patrol for the assistance which was only a few more minutes away, but these guys took time out of their commute and clearly after a long day of work to help out a stranded motorist. An action like this says so much about their ethics and positive personalities. Out of the hundreds if not thousands of people who passed me, they were the only ones who offered to help. I didn’t get their names but I truly appreciate the gesture and willingness. Thank you.

In 40 years of living in Berkeley we have never had a more capable tree trimmer than Jose and Rivas Services. Jose has a great eye for what to do and managed to climb two large trees, a Monterey Pine and an Oak, to attentively reshape and trim them back. He did so with great dexterity. I couldn't say enough about this skilled craftsman and his pricing is very reasonable.

Jose and his crew, Jonathan, Jonathan, and Cesar arrived puntually as agreed. Jose cares about the quality of his work. Professionally they did not need at all to be chased up numerously like some other services which is so important when reliability counted. Continually reliability displayed. Very impressed by Jose that at start he first confirmed again at site what needed to be done to minimise confusion. Efficiently Jose and Cesar finished their parts of work (I was pleased to see that all the cut down tree stumps were cut "X" with chainsaw as asked and even with a deep hole in each to prevent regrowth whilst the other two working on some larger tree clearing which needed more time and accurate adjustment to conform some spacing requirements. When an incident occurred, I was very impressed that sincere, prompt apology was given by a team member. And when each time some works need further adjustments, Jose as a leader was always the one who did the necessary final corrections himself even though at one moment he had forgotten the agreed works in details. But after being explained the agreed requirement, swiftly he rcompleted the work as agreed. He resolved the unexpected quietly and swiftly when later he realised that the project needed a second trip to emptying the debris which demanded more cost and time, swiftly he did it himself without complaint nor compromised other required work whilst getting the lunch for the crew and he himself had the lunch last. Despite the fact that the work areas could be cleaned up more in the end but for the professional quality of the work, I am still happy to giving a good review and highly recommend Jose s Rivas Tree Services and his crew for tree services. The Rivas Tree Services have set up some good work ethics for this trade.

We highly recommend Rivas Tree Services. We have used them twice to clean and cut large trees and palm trees in our backyard. They are very responsive, hard working, honest crew.

They did an amazing job clearing an absolute train wreck of big dead trees in the creek behind my house, which would’ve caused major storm drain issues this winter if left unattended. Their price was very reasonable as well. Hero of the day in my book for sure.

I have used Rivas tree service twice now. I had a large tree removed for safety reasons. And shaped and trimmed a walnut tree and removed several cypress bushes. Fast work, super friendly and a family owned business. Prices are reasonable and the scheduling was super fast. Highly recommend!

Rivas tree service is AMAZING! They are fast, fair priced and friendly. They arrived on time, performed the work as prescribed, and then cleaned up really well, and on top of all, they all had great attitudes. I will definitely be using them again for my tree work!

Rivas tree service was recommended to me by the fellow who cuts our weeds annually and they offered a good price so we went with them. They just (Oct 2023) removed a large dead tree on a curved slope of our property (not an easy task) and did a good job and also completed everything in only two days. They also drove some of the wood to one of our neighbors who was interested in having it (which was nice of them to do). Would definitely recommend them and I expect to be using them again in the future (assuming their prices stay reasonable).

Called in the morning for a ash tree removal and they were quick to show up and provided me with an estimate. We worked out a price and the tree was gone by that afternoon. Would highly recommend Rivas to anyone looking for tree services. 5 stars!

Rivas Tree Service came out and did a fantastic job for a great price. We had a palm tree removed and a large redwood trimmed, they did a great and quick job and cleaned everything up nicely afterwards.

Great Job! We are so happy with the work done by Rivas Tree Service. We had several LARGE trees in our yard that were toxic to our dogs, Privet, and we went with Rivas because they were insured and came recommend. They did very thorough and efficient work. They brought in a machine to take the roots out of some very established trees.
We loved the look of the trees but now hoping to replace with beneficial California natives. The team put safety first, and also cleaned up everything nicely!

I have no complaints about the employees or the quality of their tree work, but I do have concerns about the impact of their operations on the surrounding residential neighborhood.

Their property is located directly behind our apartment complex, and they regularly operate a wood chipper that is extraordinarily loud. The noise carries throughout the neighborhood, can be heard clearly inside our apartment, and is disruptive enough to wake my young son from naps. On some days it makes it difficult to relax, work, or even have a conversation indoors. Even our cats become visibly distressed when the chipper is running and will hide even for hours after the noise has stopped.

My personal opinion is that if workers need ear protection to operate the equipment safely, the noise level is probably too high to be running directly next to apartments full of families. When the chipper is running, it feels like everyone within hundreds of feet is subjected to the noise whether they want to be or not.

I understand that tree service companies need specialized equipment to do their jobs. However, this level of industrial noise seems completely out of place in such close proximity to apartments, families, children, pets, and people simply trying to enjoy their homes.

I respect the work they do, but I genuinely do not understand why an operation generating this level of noise is situated in the middle of a residential community.
