I have had the pleasure of working with Dakin from Canvas Landscaping. They exceeded my expectations. They transformed my backyard into a stunning space that I enjoy morning, day, and night. They are committed to delivering top-notch work. They make it a point to check in every few months and make sure everything is thriving as planned. They guarantee their work and materials , which is a testament of their confidence in the quality of their work. I had an issue with my sprinklers more than a year after the project was completed and they addressed it properly ( at no additional charge -this level of service shows their honest and dedication to client satisfaction). They work within your budget and provide ongoing advice and maintenance. My sister will also be using them for her landscape design. They truly stand out in this field.

I recently worked with Dakin and his team to complete my backyard transformation, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the start, they were incredibly easy to work with, always professional, and super timely in getting the project completed. We worked with Dakin for a backyard rehaul last year, though unlike others, our experience was pretty mixed. I’ll start with the positives:

Dakin is overall a very nice guy and was easy to communicate with at the start of our project. He has high attention to detail and has a good eye for design, which is not always a given with landscapers.

He was very patient with us and did a great job breaking down the scope of our project down to very small details. He did a fantastic job modifying the design we gave him from our architect designer and explained pros/cons of the changes he proposed. Changes included adding in additional mounds, adding retaining walls, and using different cost-cutting materials that better fit our budget.

He is also quite knowledgeable about different types of plant material, which was a very important component of our yard redesign.

The not so positive:

He disregarded explicit instructions to remove old black mulch from the hill, despite us pleading with him multiple times, which is now mixed into our new gravel after it settled. The road base that he used is also now mixed into the gravel. We’ve had to pay our gardeners on numerous occasions to remove old bark chips by hand, but they keep popping up over time.

The concrete subcontractors that he used were actively drinking on the job and used our yard as a dumping ground for broken glass and other material completely unrelated to our project. Our dog cut his paw running up the steps due to a protruding shard of glass that was mixed into our gravel. The control joint going down the middle of our yard is also not straight, presumably because they were inebriated while making the cut. He took zero accountability and threatened to "turn things over to his attorney" after I voiced my frustration, admittedly using a couple of profanities directed at his subcontractors. This was shortly after he requested advanced payment, to which we agreed to in good faith. Lesson learned the hard way on this one.

We’ve tried to contact him for about three months now about very minor warranty fixes (retaining wall caps are loose, exposed lighting/irrigation wiring throughout the yard, one of our magnolia trees is starting to die).

Disappointing overall given the promising start.

Canvas Landscaping landscaped the front yard of my daughter and son-in-law’s house and it was awesome. Whitney and Carlos were so excited to show it off to us. The company did a beautiful job. I highly recommend them, they will not disappoint you.

We were fortunate to find Daking to do our landscaping. He’s very personable and receptive to what we wanted. He brought catalogs and various stone and pavers samples to our home appointments, which gave us ideas for what was possible. Because we've never landscaped before, he was helpful with ideas to match our style, which was a yard that was easy to maintain and with plants that were water-efficient. He walked us through a plant nursery to show us different options. I thought that was pretty fun. Dakin and his team were on schedule and on budget. He provided daily summaries and easily worked in some revisions we wanted. We are very happy with our yard and look forward to keeping in touch with him for any of our yard needs.

Dakin and his team are the hardest working people I’ve ever seen. His attention to detail is immaculate. I even watched him re-grout a retaining wall just because the color wasn’t quite right. That level of pride in someone's work is rare. What impressed me most was how carefully he considered my vision and budget. He walked me through different decking, paver, and turf options discussing the look, feel and cost of each. I didn't feel like I was being sold to, it felt like I was being partnered with. The end result was more beautiful than anything I imagined, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Canvas Landscaping to anyone who wants their yard transformed with that kind of care and dedication.

Canvas Landscaping completely blew us away. What they created for our yard feels like something out of a design magazine, and it fits our lifestyle perfectly. It’s thoughtful, functional, and so beautiful we find ourselves just standing outside staring at it sometimes.

From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. They are professional & reliable – Showed up on time every day and communicated clearly throughout the project. Work is high quality– The turf looks incredibly natural, and the rock layout is neat and well-balanced. I am not an easily pleased person, but the front yard "wow"ed me. The price is amazing. What I appreciate the most is they went above and beyond and even took care of the side of the drive way and the side yard without me asking them to keep the consistent look. My wife found Canvas Landscaping online and after seeing the pictures we decided to arrange a consultation, best choice we could have made. We were looking to redo the "Builders Special" landscaping in the front yard.
Dakin came out asked what we had in mind which was very little we knew we wanted turf, some form of step-out in the parking strip, and low maintenance. As to style we were looking at coastal Mediterranean.
We have received many compliments since the job was completed which we have to contribute to Dakin's design and Craig's expert skill. We are amazed at the finished product and plan to have them come back to do the planting and some minor changes in the backyard in the near future.

We had Dakin from Canvas Landscaping and Design out to bid our backyard remodel cleanup after putting in a pool. He listened to what we wanted, brought us options for materials that were within our budget and provided us with a very thorough and easy to understand proposal with both a reasonable and speedy turn time for all the work involved. The crew was personable and did really great work, even finishing the whole job ahead of schedule. Dakin did an excellent job with making a beautiful update to an awkward retaining wall along our driveway. Includes lighting, stairs, and plants. Changes the look of our home to be so much more polished. He also replaced a tree that had died with a gorgeous October Red. Looking forward to seeing that autumn show of color.
