I’d give zero stars, if I could. Steve quoted one price over the phone, after I explained what was going on. Once at my house, he upped the price which I was led to believe included finishing a wall switch. He was paid in full that same day (huge mistake) and had to be repeatedly contacted to get a receipt. His office staff tried to squeeze an extra $200 out of me for him to come back and finish the job. I guess they are desperate for cash to try and scam people. So glad I held back on giving his info to two friends who needed their fireplaces services. Truly shameful and unprofessional.

Steve is one of few knowledgeable fireplace technicians who is factory certified to service a Travis industry insert. I purchased the unit from a local vendor who knew little about servicing the insert. By a stroke of luck, I was able to locate Steve Lewis who is a master at servicing my unit. Additionally, Steve was the only technician who could service my son’s Lennox insert at his home. Three other companies tried and failed to properly diagnose the issue on that unit.

Steve is quite a pleasure to work with and very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all the questions we had and always kept a line of communication with us just in case we had anything come up. We felt incredibly at ease when working with him for the services he was providing. I will always recommend him to my friends and family. Whether you are looking for Electric Fireplaces, Gas Fireplaces, Pellet appliances, Wood appliances, Chimney services, or Dryer Vent services, Steve is definitely your guy!

Johnny came and helped out with installation on ceiling racks. We had a great conversation. He was all around great guy. We had a leaky bathtub that had been bothering us for weeks and a friend recommended Handy Johnny. So glad we called. Johnny came out to our place in Hayward, took one look at the problem, and walked us through exactly what needed to be done and what it would cost before he touched anything. No surprises, no upselling, just honest and transparent from the start.

The price was very competitive compared to other handymen we'd contacted in the East Bay. He got the bathtub repair done fast, was clean and tidy the entire time, and left our bathroom looking better than he found it. You could tell he genuinely cares about doing the job right.

That was about six months ago and the repair has held up perfectly. No leaks, no issues at all. We will absolutely be calling Johnny again for any home repairs we need done. If you're looking for a reliable, hard-working handyman in Hayward, Johnny is your guy !

Found Johnny online and was immediately impressed by his diligence, quality workmanship, and excellent value. He expertly filled the gaps in our concrete driveway and siding with cement, making everything look clean and seamless again. What really stands out is his sharp attention to detail and his commitment to completing the job perfectly and on time. I can’t thank him enough, highly recommend! 5 stars all the way.

Handy Johnny is great at fixing almost anything. He replaced our leaky faucet, and the shower head water would not stop running, he fixed that in a jiffy amongst other little things, thanks Handy Johnny

We booked a repair and he never showed.
Called back 3 weeks in a row and he kept saying yes and still never showed. Acted very nice, but probably just overbooked. Wish he would have turned it down and I could ahve moved on, just frustrated with him not coming through.

My dryer was not getting hot. Johnny came to my rescue and squeezed me into his schedule. He repaired my dryer by going to several places to get the required part, and quickly had me back in operation. Kept me posted on what was required during the whole process. Thank you Handy Johnny!

Juan was able to come help with a handful of other asks that had been on my list for a long time. He fixed a cabinet door that had come off the hinge, replaced the insides of our toilet tank, and fixed two sink issues. We will definitely call on him again.

I contracted Juan for various handyman work and baseboard installation. He always brings an additional person with him even on smaller job(sister or someone else). He did mentioned before I hired him that he only bring another person on big jobs.
He and his sister did an AMAZING job installing the baseboards and installing the dining room lights for the first project.
For the second project, sister did the dining room, 2 closet, a bedroom and pantry lighting while he focused on the entry lighting installation. Again I was very pleased because they worked FAST and things looked great.
For the third project, Juan brought someone else(not an electrician) and was teaching him to do 3 bathroom lights installation(you have to revise the hourly rate at that point). I asked him if he did patching and texturing and he said yes. So I gave the task to him so my painter only need it to paint the areas. It took him almost 2 full days to finish. It involved patching holes from the old lighting fixtures, making new ones for the new fixtures and making the wall look evenly. He did texturized the areas (no misunderstanding there), but it did not look right. In this project he did mention that his best work was not done. He had to come back to tighten the new lights to the wall better because they were loose and fix his patch work for the previous holes. For the wall texture I had to pay someone else to do it.

Consistency is the one thing I look for. And how he went about fixing his mistake(which we do at times, it’s okay) and what he said are the reasons why I did not continue to work with him. Anyone can make a mistake is how you go about it that makes the difference(hence your answer) to this thread. I would never expect you to work for free.
