Long version: Seriously Impressed! I am writing this review after having had our solar system installed for a couple weeks now.
My initial search for a solar company started late last year. Our family realized we weren't going back to the office or school anytime soon and so our electric bill continued to stay above $250. We decided it was time to look at our options.
Some of our friends had gotten their solar system from other companies and sent us their recommendations. I also went on EnergySage, and of course Yelp to get a few more.
In total I looked at several vendors and compared them side by side. This meant making sure they quoted the same brand of panels (we opted for REC370 Alpha series), the same size system, and offered the same warranty. I got quotes as high as $42k (Sun Energy...wth right? outrageous proposal!). This is why it's so critical for you to do your research and make sure you get multiple bids.
Anyhow we chose Forme because their reviews were top notch, their communication friendly and prompt, and their price was competitive if not the best out of the bunch.
Our service representative Bobby was always available when we had any questions. I liked that everything was digital so we were able to sign documents online too. Everything from start to finish was a breeze, they sent me the design over email to review and approve, they handled all the permits from the city, paperwork with SCE, and on day of install they made sure to clean up and not leave any debris around once they were all done. The Forme team was always respectful and followed covid protocols by wearing masks too.
My only concerns were they don't always communicate with you on the time for when they will show up. I had to text Bobby or Terry for things like when the electrician would arrive, or when the stucco was going to be repaired, etc. But honestly this was MINOR compared to the grand scheme of things because they really did a great job on our install. I looked closely at the installation work and it's all very clean and professionally done. No weird wires, no discolored pipes, no odd or ends sticking out, just a really well done install that any home owner can be proud of.
At the end of it and in line with social distancing protocols, nick conducted a zoom meeting with my husband and I so we could learn how to use the app to see our energy production. He showed the different layouts and various ways of looking at the data.
I'm very pleased with Forme and would not hesitate to recommend or refer them to anyone! They're a great company and I'm happy with how our solar system project turned out. Thanks Forme!

I initially spoke with Forme Solar about five months ago to see if solar would make sense for our home. We evaluated a LOT of different solar installers and Forme Solar really impressed us. They emphasized the quality of the installation and focus less on the equipment. Made sense. Great value and great price. We had Forme Solar put a 7.2 kw solar system on our roof. When they came to install the solar panels on our roof, they weren’t intrusive. The part that took the longest was the permit process. It took roughly 2 weeks for the city to approve our plans. The moment I started to wonder if there was a delay, they sent me an update that the permit process was taking longer than expected. #mindreaders They took care of everything.

Thinking about going solar in California? Forme would be a great choice. They've been around the Los Angeles area and are a solid company.

I've had my fair share of experiences with different companies in the past, and generally not been impressed. But Forme Solar was a different story. Nilda, their energy advisor, really knew her stuff and answered all our questions with confidence. She even went above and beyond by helping us find ways to improve our home's overall energy efficiency beyond just solar.

After getting the HOA approvals and dealing with permits, the installation phase kicked off. The install crew, had to battle a week of high winds but despite the setbacks, they pulled through and got the job done professionally. They answered questions and were super nice to deal with.

Still in the first year of going solar but everything up to this point has gone as good as expected. Their attention to detail, long term experience in the business and being a local company makes it a no brainer to recommend Forme Solar!

I wasn't totally sold on the idea of solar power for our home when my husband and I first discussed it. The Forme Solar Electric representatives were helpful in articulating the benefits and most importantly the costs. Throughout the process they were patient and professional, keeping us updated with any changes. Our installation was delayed until we fixed the roof shingles, and they were able to help us with that. Which made dealing with the process easier. Now that our solar energy system is up and running we love seeing the saving! Happy with the system and the customer service we received from Forme.

So to be fair, I am not a customer of Forme Solar, so I cannot attest to their quality of work. The reason I am not a customer is the reason for the review. I have solar on a commercial building that needs service. I contacted Forme Solar and requested them to come out and do a diagnostic inspection to determine the problem and proceed with repairs from there. I was given a price of $350 for the diagnostic and I set up the appointment. The next day I received a call from them informing me that the diagnostic charge was actually going to be $500. I don't do business like that or with anyone who does. It is absurd to raise the price at all, let alone by almost 50% after a price has been agreed upon. It is my experience that this type of business practice will ultimately cause a business to fail. If your potential customers cannot trust you, they will not become paying customers, as in this case.
I am looking for a company I can trust to handle the 4 properties I have with solar. Forme Solar is not the one. Moving on...

I had a great experience going solar with Forme Solar. I was referred by a neighbor who recently had the Tesla Powerwall battery installed and she told me Forme Solar also did his solar. I was able to get an appointment to speak with a solar rep the same day and received a full quote in just a few hours. After speaking to 4 other companies, Forme Solar Electric provided the best value and was the most helpful in getting me the answers I needed. Best of all they were responsive, informative and local. Proud to support a local solar company near me.

Yikes. Wasn't expecting to write a review but had a good experience getting solar. Much better than anticipated. When I was doing my research I asked a few places for pricing and what made them different. From the start Forme Solar was the recommended option when I compared them to other quotes. I was still a bit hesitant but with how well the process and service was I'm thrilled they met my expectations. No wait. Exceeded expectations. Thank you to my account manager Grace who was super helpful. They gave me regular updates and seemed well trained.

Overall - A surprisingly good job

UPDATE: After the review, communication improved Terry the Ceo oversaw and tried to get things to move along. SCE as slow as it was finally approved us.

Ultimately there was still some glitches from the way the installers had used incorrect equipment. A lot more visits to my office than I'd like if planning was better from Forme. So another hole got added to my building.

I was promised by Terry a consumption meter for the panel (a neat feature) to make up for everything (was a nice gesture) but it turns out at the time there was only one for residential therefore just an empty promise. He mentioned there would be a commercial one which he would sell me and the sentiment would have been better professionally if they just offered me a complimentary one for all the trouble and inconvenience.

Overall 3.25 stars. Maybe my expectations were too high but as a small business myself we got to stand out. Leanne and Terry seem like nice people but that only can go so far. Results speak for themselves.

Communication and promises could still be improved as they probably juggle many projects and maybe smaller projects like mine got lost, miscommunicated, etc.

The solar panels work and produce fine and so far no issues since all the corrections. They even offered to do a review on production. Which seems nice. Nothing stands out more compared to other companies after all the inconvenience

All the sparkling reviews and great sales attention made the signing up and getting people to come out and estimate was quick process and Bobby sold us well and kept good contact. I thought I made a great choice.

NOW THE BAD!!!

When it was our time to install. they installed the panels fine but it seems the microinverter which converts the power was incorrect as well as the fuse box installation. they needed to come back and we waited patiently. Finally 1 month after the installation it produces. Now we are still getting billed from SCE when we asked the technician and Donna whether before we get approved after final inspection we didn’t have to pull from the grid and can use the solar energy we produced. Not true. We have now wasted 2 months since installation with no benefit and spending more than we expected. Awful and feel ripped off having spent over $800 on bills we thought we wouldnt have to.

All things seemed good and right until we were handed to the Forme Solar Admin Team, Donna and company, things seemed to have been miscommunicated and misinformation on the process. Lots of back and forth was unclear. Technicians saying one thing and then staff reporting something else. And not mention a large part of the dialogue was over email vs a simple phone call which left even more things confusing. Lost messages relayed to who know where and the delay in time when things could have been answered for final approval to SCE.

When will our solar work and we don’t have to pay our premium?

Our home’s roof was over 15 years old and we were trying to get a reroof. It was tough getting a quote because we had solar. We called our original solar installer and a few other local solar companies on Yelp only to find that they could only install solar panels. What good is that?? So it took a few weeks for us to get bids for both our roof repair and solar panel removal. We ended up picking Forme Solar because they were able to do both at a reasonable cost. We didn’t want to have to deal with two different companies to coordinate removing the 19 panels on our roof with the new roof. They weren’t the cheapest but seemed to be the most reputable. We are thrilled that we ended up picking them. It took less time to do all of the work than it did to get the bids. They even repositioned the solar panels to look a lot nicer on our home as well.
They were responsive and seemed to be on top of their work.

I hired Forme Solar Electric to install solar panels. This was my first experience with solar, and they made it easy. I spoke with Donna and they showed up the next day to check and initiated a warranty claim to replace the panel at no cost to me. I just want to say that it's been 4 years already, and they still honored the warranty for my solar system. It took two months to get the replacement solar panel from Panasonic, but everything was covere

I found Forme Solar after comparing 7 solar companies. 4 were local solar companies, and a few large solar installers like Tesla solar. I went with Forme because they were helpful and responsive. Their pricing was super competitive and the team was helpful in getting the project completed. My success manager at Forme gave me updates. It took a while waiting for the permit but after that point everything went by quickly. Helpful. Responsive. Good information.

Glad I went with black panels and microinverters. Even my neighbors have come by to ask about the roof solar.

Already told a few friends but I would definitely recommend them to others.

My experience is limited to the removal and reinstallation of 12 solar installation project that was installed originally by sunrun. I had to turn to Forme for help. It turns out that the original installation didnt get as great sun so they shifted some of my panels to help improve the efficiency. Donnee did a superb job - punctual, friendly and thorough. Didnt try to sell me more panels so I really appreciate them for their transparency and honesty.

These guys definitely own it and I was very comfortable choosing Forme Solar as my installer because I know they will be there when I need them. I had my system installed in less than 6 weeks and the install crew was incredibly polite and respectful. I am recommending Forme Solar to all of my friends and family!
