I am an architect and have worked with Abe and Manuel of Proyecto on several projects around the East Bay. In my professional experience, they have always strived to do things the "right" way, even through setbacks of no fault of their own. The company was quite new when I first worked with them and there were a few learning experiences, which have been addressed to the point that I now consider them strengths of the firm. Nystrom Design is a local interior design firm, and we recently completed a full-house remodel project with Proyecto. They were involved in the early planning stages with cost estimating and scheduling to ensure that the project would meet the homeowner's budget expectations and timeframe. The project was completed quickly and skillfully. We had a very complicated custom tile pattern in the master bathroom, and their tilers did a beautiful and meticulous job executing the installation. Proyecto was willing to work with us on custom details, and helped us resolve a few unexpected conditions that arose during the process. The Proyecto team did an incredible job on our home, reconfiguring the laundry, building a new wall, built-in cabinetry, and walk-in closet, creating gorgeous and sturdy floating shelves in the hall and living room, and, most impressively, laying new hardwood floors that somehow perfectly match the 1915 floors of the rest of our house. The work is beautiful, and they were so friendly, responsive, and professional throughout the whole process. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Proyecto was fabulous to work with from the moment we signed the contract through the completion of the project and beyond. We were so impressed with their vision, execution, attention to detail, and customer service. They came to the jobsite every day (it was a six month job), were consummate professionals, treated my family with courtesy and respect, and always cleaned up afterwards. We were absolutely delighted with the work that Proyecto did in remodeling our primary bathroom, along with a few minor adjacent projects (a new exterior door, and replacing a sink). For context, this was a down-to-the-studs bathroom remodel that included relocating walls and doorways, plumbing, new electrical lines, insulation, drywall, HVAC, a heated tile floor, beautiful tile work, fixtures, lighting, heated towel bars, and a fancy new Toto bidet. At the same time, this is a 1920s Spanish Mediterranean home, and we wanted to achieve a tasteful blend of old and new, and to ensure our contractor had experience working with older homes in Berkeley. The result? We've done several remodeling projects in Berkeley the last two decades, and this was by far the smoothest experience we've had. The work itself was of very high quality, execution was timely (no inexplicable gaps in the schedule or downtime), and the engagement and overall level of communication from the team were outstanding. Highest compliments to Abe, Lovejoy, and the Proyecto team!

Proyecto just finished a complete down to the studs remodel of our Berkeley Hills home. All of the work is top notch and the house turned out beautiful with true quality and craftsmanship.

Completing the remodel during the pandemic definitely brought its challenges, but Abe and his team were able to ensure that our project was prioritized and supply chain was never really an issue. For our home remodel (including 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen, interior and exterior paint, windows, and additional projects), we researched a dozen design/build companies operating in the Bay Area.

Like most everybody I know, we have busy, chaotic lives, with little time to spare to closely manage all the details of such a huge remodel. We were looking for a firm that could complete our remodel and make our lives as stress-free as possible during the process. Proyecto fulfilled our hopes and expectations, and I highly recommend you consider them for your project.

From the very first interaction, our experience was excellent. Abe (one of the principals/founders) came to our house to learn about our project, offer insights, and begin preparing a cost estimate. We felt completely at ease with Abe. Remodel projects can be very confusing and opaque, but Abe promised to be a communicative, clear, and honest partner in our remodel project.

Over the next two to three months, we completed the design and permitting phase. Thankfully, we had very strong opinions of what we wanted in the design. I’m not sure what the process would have been like if we had no idea what our design style was. They can fulfill any vision you may have, and we came to them with several Pinterest boards of exactly what we wanted. They contract with a local architectural firm and have their own in-house interior designer, Audrey. She was very responsive to our e-mails, answering literally hundreds of questions we had during the process.

Once the design phase was finished, we moved on to the permitting process. Navigating through our city’s byzantine permitting bureaucracy can be daunting, and that is where Abe excels and why working with Proyecto was such a good idea for us. He guided our project through in an organized and calm manner, whereas if we did it ourselves we would likely lose our minds. It took longer than expected to get the permits, but that was due to delays on our city’s side.

Abe and our assigned project manager, Brian, served as our points of contact. They were very responsive, and responded often within minutes after we sent them e-mails and texts. They were efficient managers and kept all the details of our project organized.

The construction work itself was performed to a very high degree of quality. Proyecto has a strong network of contractors and they were all skilled, diligent, and respectful. As in any remodel project, among the thousands of things that are completed correctly, there are bound to be a few small mistakes (often resulting from miscommunication). Where Proyecto is different from other firms is that they understand that they are in the client satisfaction business. The few times we pointed something out to them that we didn’t like, they would quickly rectify or change anything we asked. It was such a relief to know they were so intent on ensuring we would be happy with the final product.

After several months, our home remodel project is complete, and it looks beautiful. The people we worked with at Proyecto, including their partners, are really good, trust worthy people, and we are rooting for their continued success. These guys go above and beyond. Hire them and reduce the potential stress that may come with your remodel project.
