Deck Builder reviews in Pasadena, California

When we moved into our new house, the backyard was just bare dirt. After getting several quotes, we chose Kolsen Deck Builder and it turned out to be a fantastic decision! They built us a beautiful deck, installed pavers, added a stylish patio cover with built-in lights and a fan, and put in some artificial turf and river rock along the side. William and his crew even used leftover pavers to frame our driveway at no extra cost, which was a great surprise. The whole process was smooth and stress-free, and everyone was professional and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend them if you’re looking to improve your outdoor space.

I needed to replace a large second-story deck with a smaller one and wanted the new stairs to the patio area to have a landing. After reaching out to six contractors in Pasadena for estimates, only Kolsen Deck Builder provided clear sketches, a reasonable quote, a project timeline, and a solid work plan that made me feel confident about moving forward. David made sure everything was properly permitted with the city, handling all the engineering drawings and paperwork. He gave me several options for both design and deck materials, which was really helpful. The team managed every step of the project, from pouring new concrete footings to reinforcing the house wall for extra support. Throughout the process, the crew was professional and respectful. Their workmanship was outstanding, and the finished deck looks fantastic—sturdy, stylish, and perfect for the Pasadena weather. I’m very happy with the results and would definitely choose them again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for expert deck building services.

This was our first time building a deck, and the team made the entire process smooth and stress-free. From the very first meeting, William helped us create a design that fit perfectly with our existing patio and gave us a clear idea of pricing. Once everything was approved, the crew quickly started work, and we were very impressed with the attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship during both the framing and the final decking. We also wanted extra lighting for our new deck, and David, the electrician, did a great job making it all work with our current power setup. Communication was one of the things we appreciated most—Grant, the project manager, kept us updated and made sure everything was on track from start to finish. He was always professional and made sure we were happy with the results. We’re really enjoying our new deck and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a well-designed and expertly built deck.

This deck building team is truly outstanding. They are always honest, fair with their pricing, and the crew is professional and careful with their work. A while back, they removed our old deck and built a new, solid foundation for our backyard remodel, and the results were fantastic. More recently, we needed our back patio deck area redone, including tearing out the old structure, building a new railing, and installing a beautiful stamped concrete deck of about 1,000 square feet. Grant, Tanner, and Brandon did a great job managing the crew and making sure everything stayed on track, even with some unexpected weather. The quality of work was excellent and everything was finished on budget, just as promised. They work efficiently and always deliver results that go above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend this deck builder for any outdoor project!
