a few months ago, I had one of those days. I was trying to help my grandfather graft his Bonsai tree from the fires that he's been growing for 50years and we found out it wouldn't survive because of how bad the soil is. The Huntington garden Bonsai master came to help me with it and he said its not worth saving.

The amount of emotions I was feeling was just horrible. The one thing that kept my grandfather hopeful was that his plants survived and my goal was to make sure they did.

Well it didn't. I had a complete meltdown and the bonsai person chopped our tree and said run to a garden and get this planted asap....

So I decided to go to Armstrong. I have a pile of cuttings in my hand and I literally just said I need help with tears running down my face. Let me tell you... They helped. MEGAN helped me. She was the kindest soul I've ever met. It was close to closing and she knew I needed support during this time and she supported me and was so gentle, patient and made sure I left with my cuttings in 2 pots and planted correctly, and taught me about rooting powder and how to take care of them. LITERALLY gave me a 30 minute course to help me save what was left.

Thank you Megan, it was your kindness that helped me get through such devastation. To some it may be small, but to me it really meant the world. The cuttings are still alive and little roots are coming in! We plan to replant them for the future generations in our family.

Armstrong garden has lovely plants and a incredible team. I look forward to purchasing our plants when its time to rebuild..

I write reviews when I think a place and service are both outstanding. And this is definitely the case at Armstrong's in Pasadena. I am a plant neophyte and came in needing to find several different types of plants to fill in different gaps in our front street-side yard. I walked around the beautiful garden center first, amazed at the lovely variety, colors, shade-sun, perennials, annuals, succulents, larger and smaller trees...not to mention all the gorgeous pots, planters, and items to make a yard or garden really special. I came indoors and was greeted kindly by David, who asked if I needed help. When I sheepishly admitted I was a complete novice and needed assistance, then showed him some pictures of what I was trying to achieve, he was so pleasant and helpful. He came up with several different options for sunny, partial sun, helped with determining how large the plants would get in certain spaces, and then shared some planting and soil tips. During the 20-25 minutes or so in which David assisted me, there were several other customers who came inside or were seeking assistance -- David immediately asked other assistants to assist those customers, explaining what they needed and where to locate them. I was so happy with my overall experience -- the last thing you need when you are trying to help resuscitate a garden or lawn is patronizing or dismissive assistants -- David was the exact opposite: Kind, responsive, helpful, and encouraging. I will be back to this Armstrongs for any future plant needs. Thank you, David, and Armstrong!

This Armstrong nursery branch (pun intended) stocks healthy, thriving plants. They are somewhat pricey but the quality of plants and the offer of a lifetime guarantee are worth it.

One of my favorite places to browse for deas for plants, pots and water features. On the expensive side but great for browsing. Getting ideas for some new landscaping I will be doing. They also have a nice gift shop.

A best experience on Valentine's day! Especially with your sister and your impatient mother haha. This place is very small and has a relaxing environment. My sister fell in love with this place that I suddenly passed by taking an Uber. I recommend this to all from my sister, my mother, and I being nature lovers there is hardly any bugs but one or two in a few plants. Nothing can be perfect. These plants are better taken care of from Home Depot and Orchard. I guess they actually put love, time, and effort on the plants. Oh I found a unicorn decor for the beginning of my fairy garden ❤️❤️❤️🦄

As I drive home on I-5, my eyes fill up, thinking of my nephew and niece. Earlier this week, they lost their home to the #EatonFire. I drove down to give the kids a break from the trauma. Instead, they decided to use the day to get birthday presents for their mom.

Their mom, Xiaolin, loves to garden. With the help of Bennett, the kids selected and potted plants to start their mom's nursery again. I almost lost it, when my niece started tearing up when she heard Bennett refuse to take our money and wished her mom a happy birthday. Bennett's mom had also lost a home to the fire and wanted the plants to be a token of support. Thank you Armstrong Garden Center and Bennet!

One of my favorite spots as a newly outdoor plant enthousiast! Amazing selection of outdoor plants and all kinds of accessories. It’s got a great vibe all around - expect to see butterflies and parrots. Their plants range from small succulents to massive olive trees and everything in between. From sun-loving plants to shade plants and from petounias to rasberry trees. Somewhat on the expensive side though and not great customer service. I would definitely recommend!

This a really amazing nursery. Great selection of plants (it’s huge) that are well taken care of. They have sections for: succulents, shrubs, ground cover, edible and herbal, local, indoor. It’s impressive compared to all the other nurseries that I’ve been to.

I've been shopping at this Pasadena location for almost 2 years. Every single time I've been there, I've had incredible customer service.
Their knowledge of plants is incredible, and much appreciated.

Sherry is always so delightful. Always welcomes me by name, she has helped me so much, she is truly an asset to the company. I get disappointed if she is off when I go in. Also, David, he is extremely helpful. I am disabled and he is always willing to pick things up for me. He is always more than happy to help me load the car.
I plan to shop there for all my gardening needs!

I don't think they get a lot of Hispanics here. I came here to buy a couple of wind chimes for a Christmas gift, stood by the registry to ask for guidance, the young lady didn't bother to look up to acknowledge my presence even though I clearly looked lost and came back couple of times. Upon checking out she looked grossed out to take my money and to hand me the unbagged boxes. It was the weirdest thing. Haven't had this kind of service in a very long time.

The chimes are beautiful and the place is beautiful, but the service can definitely need some improvement from this young lady. It is very disappointing to know that people still get treated a certain way because of how they look. SMH.
