They are understaffed, The wait is 3 plus Hrs. Frustrating

Been working on getting a permit approved since may 2021.

Kevin, was extremely courteous, knowledgeable and patient.

I've always found the building department to be extremely professional and helpful.

Never helpful. Like they want you to fail attitude.

Need to work on customer service as there's is well below industry normal. I have worked with all the other building departments in the area for over 25 years.

The gentleman from building called me back. Gave me the #for planning,when I called the young lady said I needed to e-mail them. I have had no response from anyone.

Cannot find a SIMPLE way to order a very simple electrical Inspection by phone or online for a minor electrical circuit addition that requires an inspection. PLEASE!

Absolute worst building department and inspectors to try to work with in the state. Interpret codes wrongly and even make up their own rules. Andy Munyon needs to be replaced.

They suck wait time is over 2 hrs when i came in only 2 people waiting and there is like 15 window for help way slower then dmv they are over staffed and lasy also the workers are walking back and forth and not at there window this is tax payers money wasted every city i been to takes hr tops and were done sacramento is the slowest and worst service fire them and hire new employees.

They are super hard to work with. The citizens portal doesn't work.i have emailed them 2or 3 times so not working can't d submit a permit because there system says that out business license doesn't exist. Got the run around an a different permit. Not sure they know what is going on.

Sacramento County Building Permit on Goethe/Bradshaw requires an internal/external investigation for their business practices and security breaches. They modify ACT accounts "project descriptions" on existing assigned permits without homeowners/contractors knowledge. Inspectors add specific words in a permit when other entities (ie-SMUD) with intent to bring un-necessary delays and incur more costs/fees to a project/repair that requires a permit and inspection. Sac County Building Permit Office offers no information for consumers/tax payers to make a formal complaints for their shady business practices and security breaches.

Waiting time over 2 hours every time, I am tired with that, I am very disappointed. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Strongly agree with other people.
Employees are extremely unprofessional and cannot finish their jobs properly.

I have been in a trade requiring permits and inspections all the time, just as anything in life, there is a cost to doing business, if your time is worth more than what you can pay a gopher to sit in a waiting room 2-3 hours, then hire someone from a college ,Manpower type of employment agency, Craigslist has a "gigs" section where you can hire people as required.
If you do this often you should hire someone part time as needed, I have done this for many years.
One thing that I do that really has improved my inspections being passed is having a young lady there to provide access,give her a 6 in 1 tool and a flashlight and have her stop by Dutch bros or Starbucks and get coffee for them, I say them because after the word gets out, 2 or 3 inspectors will be arriving to see the gal and if there is some issue or a dumb thing overlooked rather than be chewed out, lectured, not signed off etc, Inspectors will perform a small fix to get her permit passed! If it were me there , sorry Bub, reschedule another inspection after you get things rectified!

The phone number provided has you go through lots of choices. When you get to the choice of speaking to the building department or a violations supervisor, it hangs up. Wonderful way to spend our tax dollars!

Barry was very professional and cheerful in inspecting my new HVAC system and water heater. I’m so greatful that The HVAC company set up my appointment for my inspection. Barry called me and told me when he would arrive. He was right on time. Thank you so much.

I have called them four days in a row, 3 times a day and no one returns my calls. I have reached out to 4 different people to tray and get some simple questions answered. I have never dealt with a county or city office so dismissive of their customers. Truly an awful system.

Nov 2022 - Sac county building department changed how they charge customers when using the online permit application. First, the site states they may or may not charge you when you submit the application. If you pay "the fees" during the online permit application submittal, WATCH OUT!! That might not be the true fees due. Since November, there is now the possibility of ADDITIONAL FEES!! There isn't a way to find out if or what those additional fees could be either. It's a wait and see game now. Today, additional fees were from $1.04 and to $84 and one application was paid in full the first time. Also, that's double payment in bank and CC convenience fees. Just love their site states, "If fees seem to high, call......" Wonder if we can call to complain about double dipping.
