We have processed many commercial plans and permits for clients such as Restaurants Tenant improvements, Bakery Deli expansion, included, dealing with in their mental health department and other regulatory agencies of County of Sacramento. Also, accessory dwelling units and many other remodels, additions and conversions from non-living space to a living space!

This building department is the worst I have ever dealt with. If I can actually get through to someone, I get referred to or transferred to someone else whose mailbox is usually full so I can not leave a message. A simple basic residential permit is taking over 6 weeks to get issued. Ridiculous! And if you don't attempt to reach someone to ask for a status check, the permit application will sit in limbo for God knows how long. I just don't understand why other building departments are able to issue within a week. This place is a joke. If I could I would give ZERO STARS! THE ABSOLUTE WORST OF THE WORST! I could go on and on and on and on.....

Still trying to get a permit after almost 2 months. Any little comment or change needing to be made will cause your permit to go to the back of the line again. Comments are ridiculous like, "you will need a different kind of pool permit since this is an apartment complex." NO it isn't, it is and has always been a single family home. Very frustrating. Nobody calls back or address voice mail messages. I dread applying for pool permits in Sac County.

I contacted the Sacramento County Building Inspection office at 827 7th Street to confirm that all previous permits for my property had been finalized—a standard request for any homeowner.

Unfortunately, the representative I spoke with, Amaria, was either poorly trained or completely indifferent to the department's own processes. She initially told me the information must be requested online. When I pressed for clarification, she then suggested I call a different department to request the info, but when I asked for that contact information, she claimed there was none available.

It is incredibly disappointing to call a 'General Line' for guidance only to be met with circular, contradictory information. If you are looking for clear answers regarding permit history, be prepared for a runaround if you end up speaking with her. The department needs to provide better training on their own internal workflows.

Carlos is amazing! We had a shady installer that caused damage to our home with our new air conditioning system. When Carlos arrived on scene, I was defensive, frustrated and a little paranoid about COVID-19. He donned his mask, social distanced, and also took the time to explain separately the issues that our installer wouldn't explain to me and turned it into a wonderful experience.
