This business never showed up for their first appointment. Not only that they had set up a 2 hour time frame and they still didn't bother to call or return my call. And, this appointment was set up 1 week in advance.

There are other places to get better service, it's better to go elsewhere.

When last night’s storm toppled one of the redwoods surrounding our HOA community onto our property Michelle sent in a crew who removed the tree and cleaned up the debris in record time. I highly recommend this Family owned business for its prompt professional service .

Can I give more than 5 Stars? We had Jeffery come to our home today and were blown away at the combination of expert arborist knowledge, attention and advice. I received a quote from Jeff, and just couldn't wait to give them a 5 star review! Jeff came over after a very long day to assess my trees and I learned SO much about proper care and watering! Jeff took the time to share the ABC's of Tree care and I'm a better steward now. I still have a few more quotes to get from other companies.. but I already know that A Better Tree Service has the best knowledge and care "a canopy above the competition". Just quality here...

Website says provides Arborists reports. Came to provide consultation and said they don’t provide arborist letter or report. Didn’t follow up with quote as promised. Didn’t return follow-up phone calls or voicemails. Very unprofessional, don’t waste your time.

Jeffrey Strader is the most honest as well as knowledgeable person in this business I have ever met. I had a few companies come out and they said I needed to cut numerous large branches out of my tree with a nice large price to go with it. Jeffrey came out and examined the entire tree, safety rated it and should me what would happen if the large branches would have been cut exposing the tree to many problems. He could of done what I thought needed to be done and made a lot of money off of me but he was honest and told me not to do it and to enjoy my huge tree exactly as it was!!! That is integrity and I guarantee this will be the company for anything I need in the future and I have already passed his name along to many neighbors. Thank you so much Mr. Strader

I called to schedule a tree trimming estimate, and was given a window of 1-4 pm today for the appointment. I rearranged my schedule to be home for the entire window. At 4 pm Jeff called to say that he could come by at 4:05, but I specifically planned my day to be here during the window they gave me and not after. I understand people get busy, but even just calling during the busy day to let someone know you're running late is better than what happened here. There are a lot of tree trimming services in Sacramento. I'm going with one that respects my time.

We rely on A Better Tree Service for more than just tree work. Over the years they have handled our pruning, tree removal, irrigation and minor backyard construction projects with a high degree of professional quality at very reasonable prices. Jeff Strader, the owner, is more than just a dedicated, skilled arborist. He's also a really nice guy. His crews work fast, but when they are done, your tree still looks like a real tree instead of a fantasy for your cat and your yard and patio are neat and tidy. A Better Tree Service is a great local business; we can't say enough good about them.

Jeff is absolutely fantastic. I’ve used him on several occasion's for pruning large trees and consultations on existing trees. He’s extremely knowledgable and cares about doing things the right way. I’ve always found his employees to be very professional and skilled. He offers a 24 hour emergency service and will go out of his way to Accommodate your needs. Everyone I've dealt with here has been wonderful to us. They trimmed trees for us a year ago, when they trimmed the tree that hung over the roof they also cleaned all the debris off the roof for us.

When I had Jeff back this year to check on the trees he told me everything was fine and there was no need to trim. Kind, honest, excellent work.

I was told that my scarlet oak tree needed to be cut back, little did I know it was in perfect condition. Jeff came out on time as promised and told me that my tree was in great shape! He gave us some tips for the next few years. We appreciate Jeff's honesty and the knowledge that shared about the tree growth. The first time I used this company was in 2021, the service was excellent. The receptionist, the Arborist, the tree trimmers are all exceptional. I needed another consult this year to check on the health and maintenance of my trees. I called A Better Tree Service and was so pleased. This is an excellent company that gives superior service, I will always use them to maintain my trees.

We had a Japanese Maple die on us unexpectedly, so Jeff came out to figure out what had happened. He spent about an hour in total with us explaining how it had died and what we would need to do to the rest of our yard to keep anything else from dying. He was very knowledgeable, informative, and polite. I highly recommend A Better Tree Service to anyone having problems with their landscaped trees!

Awesome experience from the whole team! Jeff was very professional and honest when giving his assessment of a large dead tree in my front yard that needed removal. He explained to me exactly what my options were, including recommending reaching out to SMUD to see if they would take care of it and provided a timely quote if not. Fortunately, SMUD did take the tree down themselves but regardless my experience with Jeff and team was stellar and I could tell they operate with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

Fantastic Service!

In 2018 one of the liquid amber trees in our yard didn't come back to life in the spring.We'd been talking about clearing the cut brush and doing a little trimming for a while, but when that tree died we knew we would have to have a professional deal with the problems in the yard at some point.

Fast forward to this spring. One windy night a branch as big around as my thigh fell strait down. We knew that was our last warning, so I opened up Google Maps and searched for tree service. I selected A Better Tree Service and one other to contact - the other service never even tried. I was quickly contacted and an arborist came by the next day.

He did a thorough evaluation and gave me a quote that sounded very reasonable. We soon scheduled a day for the A Better Tree Service's team to come out.

I'm not sure how many of them there were, perhaps eight. They cut down four trees, cut back a branch that was growing over our neighbor's fence, removed the piles of brush in the yard, and chipped it all up into mulch (which we are using all over the place!). And all the while, the guys had fun. They never neglected their jobs, but they laughed and teased together. I also appreciated that when one of the more experienced guys would point out some lesson about tree health to a junior guy they let me run over and "learn too!"

Over all a fantastic service. I would recommend them to anyone.

Update, August 2019: Once all the above work was done, we were able to see other things that needed care. I won't detail the work this time. Suffice to say they did the work quickly and safely. Also, they made our large Liquid Amber safer to be around and probably extended its life.

So you can see I've lived my own advice! Again, I recommend highly.
