I cannot speak more highly of John Fox and North Bay Construction. From start to finish, absolutely exceptional! John is a great communicator and very responsive. We were fairly engaged homeowners in our 1912 Edwardian in Noe Valley, which was down to the studs in half the house. John was very flexible with adapting to changes in the plans and was keen to understand our vision for the project. John also employs only the highest quality subcontractors, and we were completely satisfied with all of them. Most people do not enjoy going through the experience of a remodel, but with North Bay Construction, it was actually fun and satisfying. The final product exceeded our expectations in every respect.

Working with John and North Bay Construction was amazing! They tackled two bathroom remodels and a large kitchen refresh for us, and the results are beautiful. At every step of the way, John was super attentive and really had our backs. There was nothing we couldn't ask him to do, and I really appreciated that he never tried to nickel and dime us. On top of the great customer service, the quality of the work is top-notch. I can't recommend them highly enough!

For context, this was our first major remodel and we were fairly new to the process. John came highly recommended and he did not let us down. John and his staff guided us though our year-long project with clear and professional communication, patience and understanding. John and team are professionals, on time, on task and on budget. He set reasonable expectations of what he needed from us as clients and informed us in a timely manner of when decisions needed to be made. His craftsmanship and attention to detail are world class. He also has the benefit of having long-standing relationships with his subcontractors. They all worked as a team to get the project completed on time and within the established budget. John has also been an excellent partner to us following the full remodel of our home. There have been small tweaks here and there that have needed attention and John's been incredibly responsive. We would not work with anyone else if we were to embark upon this project again.

We worked with John in 2016 for a major renovation of our home. We had been working with a designer (unaffiliated with North Bay) who had been overcharging us; we were way over budget and feeling frustrated. John and North Bay Construction saved us. We fired our designer and John helped us bring our project back to a manageable place without compromising the quality and beauty of the renovation. They did an incredible job - the work is excellent, they were on time and on budget. Everyone who came to the house (electrician, plumber, stucco, roofing, heating/cooling, flooring) were amazing to work with. 10 years later, we still go to him for recommendations for regular house maintenance projects. His advice is never wrong. You won't regret working with North Bay Construction.

North Bay Construction has been my go-to general contractor for over a decade, and I recommend them without hesitation for both major renovations and smaller repair work.

** Long-term projects and scope **
Over the last 10+ years, they have completed three large projects at my home, adding roughly 2,500 square feet of new space. This has included a two-story vaulted-ceiling entertainment room, a workout room, three bathrooms, a master bedroom, a home office, and an entirely new facade, all integrated seamlessly into the existing house. On top of that, they have handled more than a dozen smaller jobs for me, such as a half-bath remodel, a larger bathroom remodel, several leak repairs, and most recently an insulated storage area.

** Quality, follow-through, and fairness **
Their workmanship has been consistently high-quality, and just as important, they stand by everything they build. On the rare occasions when something was not quite right or needed adjustment, they returned and fixed it promptly with no pushback or debate. Their billing has always been fair and transparent, and they work efficiently without dragging projects out longer than necessary.

** Professionalism and neighbor relations **
North Bay Construction’s team is professional, respectful, and easy to have on site over long periods of construction. They are polite and thoughtful with neighbors, which matters a lot when you are doing large additions that affect noise, access, and parking. I’ve seen them navigate those complex neighbor dynamics with patience and tact, helping keep relationships around us positive during disruptive phases of the work.

** Responsiveness and problem-solving **
One of the things I value most is how quickly they respond when something needs attention. If an urgent issue comes up on site, they are often able to come by within the hour to assess and address it. The team is smart, proactive, and willing to jump in rather than letting problems linger, which has given me a lot of confidence throughout each project.

** Overall recommendation **
After working with North Bay Construction on multiple major additions and many smaller projects over more than a decade, I trust them completely with my home. They combine strong craftsmanship, fair billing, excellent communication, and real accountability, and I plan to continue using them for any future renovations or repairs.

NBC team (John, Judit, carpenters, etc) are highly professional and high quality general contractors.  I would engage with NBC again on all my home projects and look forward to the next one.  The entire experience was a pleasure!  (1) Scope of job:  NBC renovated the entire exterior of my house, including demolition, new windows, carpentry, bolting/bracing, insulation, water-proofing, concrete, stucco, plastering, lighting, paint, roofing, permitting.  (2) Timeliness: NBC worked strenuously to ensure the project was completed on time.  The entire crew, including sub-contractors, committed to showing up on time or early and completed each division/piece on time.   (3) Quality: NBC rigorously vets their sub-contractors.  Every sub-contractor has high standards and is passionate about their craft.  Every team left the site well-organized and clean.  (4) Communication & Organization:  NBC is highly experienced, so the coordination with carpenters, sub-contractors, and permitting was seamless.  They anticipated my questions and needs and were very responsive to requests and changes.  John sent a weekly update on the upcoming week, and checked in regularly during the week.

A much overdue review of my experience with John and North Bay Construction. Last year they completed a bathroom remodel for me, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! From start to finish, they were incredibly friendly and easy to work with. John and his subs were communicative throughout the entire process—I always knew exactly where things stood and what to expect next.

Every subcontractor brought in was professional and courteous, and it was clear that everyone took pride in their work. I appreciated how diligent they were about cleaning up at the end of each day—it made a huge difference.

John and his team were a dream to work with! We had a more complex project and they stepped in on relatively short notice to fit us into their schedule. Throughout the project, John was reliable and transparent. If he said he was going to do something (e.g. meet us, schedule the plumber, talk to the city, etc.) it always happened. We had some minor delays (normal for most projects) and John always took accountability for these situations, bringing well-considered solutions and go-forward plans. Like most homeowners, we don’t do major renovations repeatedly in our lives and have heard so many horror stories — being able to work with a team that is professional and trustworthy, with a high bar for quality gave us the peace of mind to know we were in good hands for one of the largest investments we have made in our home.

I can't sing enough praises about NBC. I had a smaller project (1 bedroom ADU complete tear out and remodel after a fire) and selected this contractor because John and Judit provided me with am honest, transparent, detailed, and thorough bid. Throughout the process, NBC was responsive, communicative, timely, and really surprised me with their level of service. All of the sub-contractors John engages with are experts in their area and very professional. Several years after completion of the project, I'm still very happy with the results and still show off some very subtle contractor-things that spark joy (OCD plumbing lines and back panel, thoughtfulness in planning symmetry around support posts). Any construction knowledgeable visitor always comments on the quality of the work I've had done. I'm looking forward to working with them in the future.

As designers, collaboration and communication are everything and this team is excellent on both fronts. We've had the opportunity to work with North Bay Construction on more than one project. They're organized, responsive, and thoughtful in the field, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

They coordinate well with our team and trades, maintained a clean and efficient site, and delivered high-quality work. I’d absolutely partner with them again and recommend them without hesitation.

Ray Cox construction did me terrible. He put up new tile, but never fixed the leak and he broke my shower fan. I’ve tried to contact him but he’s not returning my calls. Horrible businessman!!!!

Move to a bigger location rather than doing business in the middle of the street every morning!

These guys worked out in front of the house today and left a mess of the yard, also used our hose and did not store back in place. No attention to details. Concrete finish is good 👍

One of your drivers almost kill me and my kids when joining 101 south in San Mateo. He cut me out of the freeway when he was driver his big towing truck. There was on other car behind me that had to get off of the freeway to skip this animal from slamming us to the wall of the freeway. When we pass him he was lifting his finger to us. That is unacceptable, he should be out of the roads ASAP. He is a danger to the public safety.

Just for parking spot they towed my car with one month expired tags. I would move my car if they knocked on my door. I tried to talk to workers but they pretend they can’t speak English. This is not right way to do when you run a business.

I can’t say enough good things about Mission Constructors! They were fixing the street in front of my house in San Francisco. I came across this gentleman by the name of Ryan Watters Project Manager. He is the most professional person I have encountered. I had ongoing problem with a damaged curb in front of my house. I brought it to his attention and he took it upon himself to address the problem and got it taken care of. What a Classy Man! Mission Constructors Rock!

Road Rage:

Today an elderly drove a car at Cupertino , a pick up truck was behind following closely and horning. The latino driver of the pick up truck cut off the elderly's car and stopped in front of her. the latino driver jumped off from the pick up truck in the middle of the road and taunted the elderly. The latino driver did not give up , he turned left and waited at a spot for the elderly to approach, so he could follow her home.
The elderly went to a mall and parked, the pick up truck driver did not give up and approached to the mall, he yelled and taunted. Other pedestrian wanted him to go or call 911. the Pick up truck marked " Mission Constructor Inc. San Francisco CA. Lic : AB973263." the license was expired.

It is a brutal driver, who worked for this construction co. with reckless attitude.

Francisco at Nabi has done an amazing job managing complex earthquake retrofit projects at various properties in the Bay Area.

Watch out for this contractor. They buy your property info from local governments and then send you a letter incorrectly suggesting that you need their services for an earthquake retrofit requirement when your property is exempt. Not cool. I can only imagine what their other shady practices are. Suggest using a different contractor.
