In 2013, BV Electric replaced my bathroom exhaust fans with fancy ones which required installation of a 3-up switch. Those electricians were great.

In Dec 2024, BV Electric was efficient in scheduling a quote and an appointment for repair. Yonny the electrician was very helpful in explaining his game plan on replacing the burnt disconnect switch. Yonny was on time and finished the job in a timely manner. Thank you for the great experiences with the old and the new BV Electric staff.

Jaime Duran of BV Electric did an excellent job installing a NEMA 240V outlet for our EV charger. It was a complex job that required combining several breakers to make room for the 50Amp EV breaker. Jaime handled the job with technical expertise and confidence. He also gave me some valuable tips regarding future electrical upgrades as CA shifts from gas appliances to electric. BV’s quote was very competitive and fair.

Showed up on time and did all the work that we discussed and was very professionally done. The job was all completed smoothly and at a reasonable price.

Highly recommend. BV installed two GFCI outlets for me. I emailed them on a Thursday, they came Friday morning, and were done in less than an hour. To access one of the outlets, they had to move a bookcase, which they did gently and without complaint. Stefan and Jose were both very friendly and enthusiastic. Will definitely use BV again if I need electrical work in the future

Excellent, fast, and professional service. Had them install a bathroom heater/vent along with new in-wall outlets. I had nothing but positive experiences with their staff.

Only complaint would be some challenges in getting the language in the work order to match my request (or what I believe is my request). Additionally, I am not in love with their payment and invoicing system but both of these are trivial issues overall. I would recommend them.

I was referred to BV Electric by another electrician who didn't specialize in what I needed fixed. Alex and Stefan were super professional and determined to solve my lighting issue (it wasn't straight forward). They were both very pleasant and polite (they took their shoes off before coming in without my saying anything!)
Before hiring them, I was noticing there are so many scammy-seeming electricians out there with AI-generated 5 star reviews, so it was a huge relief to get referred to this legit company. I'd definitely hire them again.

BV did a great job replacing the old wiring and main service panel in my home. Armando and his crew were very dependable and courteous. The price was very reasonable considering the scope of the project which took almost three weeks. I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again.

I had a great experience with BV Electric. Their communication as they did the work was great. They frequently checked in and made sure things were going to come out like I'd expected. Crew was on time and worked very efficiently and did a good job cleaning up afterwards.

My interaction with the BV Electric office was excellent. Calls and emails were returned promptly and they were able to set up the appointments for both the estimate and then the work fairly quickly. I did not shop elsewhere but I felt the price quoted was fair for the work involved, so I proceeded to engage them as they had come highly recommended by a neighbor and my real estate broker. They had to open trenches in my primary closet wall to relocate the electrical panel to outside the closet so as to comply with current code requirements. As the attached picture shows, there were a lot of cables involved and they had to work around the existing wall studs. It was supposed to take 6-8 hours. The two guys (father and son) they sent were very nice and it appears they did a good job, but it was challenging to communicate with them some of the time as their English was limited and I do not speak Spanish. There were a lot of delays in getting the work completed in the course of the day, but a good portion of that had to do with the senior guy's van being stolen the day before; as a result he did not have all the required equipment and materials (including the new panel) so each of them went out for long stretches to get supplies, during which minimal or no work was accomplished. I of course want to be understanding of the stolen van situation, but as a customer, I expected the company to step up more and ensure that things moved along faster and more efficiently. In the end they were here for 8.5 hours after arriving late, and had to come back the next day for 90 minutes to finish up. In the end, everything works in the house and I have a proper new electrical panel in the requested location (see second picture). I really did like the two guys who worked on my project, and I think the end result is good, but I just wish the process of getting the job done - and communicating about it - was smoother.

McMillan Electric is the preferred vendor for the Exploratorium, @ Pier 15-17 for the last 8 years. It is a excellent company from management to the crews on the job. 100% professional

Excessive change orders and claimed T&M hours. Their PM staff was fine and quick to respond. No complaints on actual work and their field electricians are competent.

McMillan Electric is difficult to work with, and ultimately they pulled out of the project before it even started due to their own internally imposed constraints.

We had reached out to them to do electrical work in our apartment, following a recommendation from our building management since they had worked with them in the past. They agreed to do the work and took our deposit to get a permit with the city (which they returned at the end when they pulled out).

Communication was sparse; it was hard to get traction for getting a proposal together. Even when a proposal was sent, they had actually sent us a different client's filled out proposal incorrectly.

When talking to them verbally, professionalism and customer service was lacking. Their tone was passive aggressive and made it feel like they were inconveniencing themselves by doing us a favor, rather than trying to serve us as a client who matters.

Originally, they agreed over the phone that they would also cut into the sheetrock in ceiling. In the middle of pushing the proposal through to our building management, they reversed their decision causing us to need to coordinate with yet another contractor to do this work. Moreover, McMillan Electric told us that the other contractor would have to be onsite at the same time and work in parallel with them. This made the job that much more of a logistical nightmare.

Our building requires that work be done no earlier than 9am, which is a reasonable request to not disturb neighbors. McMillan Electric refused to move forward claiming that their union requires work to start at 8am. Instead of figuring out the logistics on their own end, they moved this burden onto us as a client. They told us it was on us to change the rules of the building. They ended up blaming us by saying that they normally don't do residential units and only took this on as a sign of goodwill. Somehow, they were able to follow our building's rules previously but couldn't do so now.

Ultimately, it has been a colossal waste of time where we could have just gone with a different electrician who would have been more professional. We wasted two months of back and forth with them. Would not recommend them.

From the start of the job to the finish of the job the technician was professional, courteous, and very skilled. He suggested things that I had not thought of for the project. The install was quick, professional, and very well done. Overall a very positive experience and I would absolutely use them again for any more of my electrical needs.

Once you get past how rad and bad to the Bone. The place itself is the cool motorcycles and then you meet the staff. They are most excellent and professional. If I was going to recommend an electrical outfit in this area, this would be the one

Called to schedule service. Guy answered simply said “we are booked for two weeks right now,” and hung up. Poor. Willing to change my rating if I experience better customer service.
