We chose SolarUnion after getting quotes via EnergySage from 3 installers. SolarUnion wasn't the cheapest, but they had a great warranty and a knowledgeable team. We wanted a ground mounted array, that would require 250ft of trenching in our sloped backyard. The job was supposed to take 3 days, but once they started digging it was clear 3 days wouldn't be enough: the slope was too steep for the trencher to work, and there were too many roots. The crew worked for 5 days with pick and axe, carefully digging the trench to avoid hurting our trees. Top notch job. The rest of the install seemed super easy, but that's because the crew knew what they were doing. We are very happy with our array
SolarUnion is a very professional group and we were very happy with their installation team and support for successful inspection and all paperwork for PG&E approval. Going Solar reduces our biggest expense and will be a large part of sustaining the San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society going into the next Century. I could always reach them and they responded quickly to all questions. Highly recommend their services.
I am very pleased with SolarUnion. After being courted by numerous Solar companies, I finally decided with SolarUnion for the following reasons: 1) They have a local office. 2) They didn’t overwhelm me with phone call after phone call. 3) They were patient with me when I had to wait off on the project. 4) Their sales rep Karissa G. was very thorough and explained everything in layman terms, because buying solar is like buying insurance, not easy and definitely confusing. 5) my house has a flat roof, many Solar companies avoid working on these types of roofs, the fact that SolarUnion was one out of two companies that could do the work was a plus in my book. And lastly, when I couldn’t reach Karissa, the office manager and owner both reached out to me personally which is a very nice touch. Their prices were reasonable, the work was clean and the installers were very patient with my over crowded garage. The only issue I had was with the inspection, through no fault of SolarUnion or their installers. The city inspectors had so many pre-requisites to finally consider the job as complete. After a few tweaks to the system, the city finally approved it! I finally went live soon there after. After the approval both the office manager and sales rep emailed and called to congratulate me on the approval. That was an extra added touch, although my friends would say of course they did that, after you spent money, that’s the least they could do. No one has to do any of that, and I have never had an installer or contractor ever call after the work was completed to just follow up in that fashion. So it was really nice that they asked. Overall I would definitely recommend SolarUnion if you are looking to install Solar on your property. I wished I did it sooner!!
I found SolarUnion through EnergySage, which I also highly recommend. SolarUnion was the perfect company for me. I have a tar and gravel roof, and a number of solar installers will not work on T&G. SolarUnion had a great deal of experience, advised me at every turn, and did a perfect job. They answered emails within an hour or less, phoned to let me know the county was very slow at issuing permits, reduced the number of panels once they saw my electric bill was fairly low, and behaved like a company that cared more about me than their profit margin (though I'm sure they care about that too!). It was a great experience from start to finish.
The guys at SolarUnion, especially Jeramie in Santa Rosa, were stellar. Got it done in October '22. I left a 5 star review. 2 years went by, and I was unhappy with the true-up costs from PG&E. So I inquired about adding a few more panels - (under NEM 2.0 you're allowed to add a little bit of capacity without knocking yourself out of that tier.) I used their messaging system. No calls back, nothing. I called, finally spoke to someone, and they said an engineer/project coordinator would give me a call. Nothing. I documented 3 emails/messages, 4 phone calls with messages, and two live interactions. So I'm giving up. Like so many contractors I've dealt with (paving stones, HVAC installers, roofers) they tout or imply lifetime guarantees, but if no quick buck is to be made, you're ghosted. So disappointed.
We had a great experience with SolarUnion's solar installation on our house in San Francisco. They were responsive and met their deadlines and took care to keep us informed along the way. Highly recommend them.
