Milpitas Sanitation

Milpitas Sanitation replaced Republic for Milpitas customers in late 2017. We have had the following negative experiences so far. Increased rates. Requirement to separate trash and recycle each into 2 categories. Removal no longer includes yard waste. Doing so requires a fee. Recently I paid this fee for 2 bags and they picked up one bag but left the other. I could go on but you get the idea. If poor service continues I will consider a complaint with the city. The old waste provider was perfectly fine and should not have been changed.

2023 update: small improvement in service. We no longer have to chase the garbage truck down the street to pick up excess trash labeled with bag tags. Yes, that actually happened in 2017. Company is slow to mail bag tags needed for extra trash. I recommend a visit to their office to pick up in person.

2026 update: the latest failure is that their truck keeps missing recycle items when it dumps the bin. The result is cans, glass, papers ending up on the street. We have resorted to recycling our glass elsewhere as having broken glass on the street is a safety hazard for people walking dogs in our neighborhood.

Given how poor the service has been over such a long period of time the city seriously needs to consider switching to a more competent waste provider.

I just got off a call with Emily and had such a great experience that I asked HER where I can best leave her a positive review. Like most people, I don't enjoy making customer service calls. However, Emily helped me with my request, checked in repeatedly when I was on hold to make sure I knew she was working on it, answered additional questions our family had, and did it all with a professional and kind attitude.

Customer service calls typically aren't enjoyable, but Emily made the process smooth and painless. Thank you!
