I thought the pruning of our magnolia had been too severe, but now, come spring, the tree looks great, and there are not all the suckers/sprouts shooting up from the top of the tree as there have been after prunings by other tree services. Very happy!

John and his crew did a fantastic job and their prices were very reasonable, especially compared to other quotes we received. Highly recommend them and will be using again.

John and his crew trimmed and thinned a number of oaks on our property ... including one that had been decimated by PG&E's crew. The trees closest to the house were thick and heavy but, by the time John got through with them, they were light, airy and so much nicer looking. John really has an 'eye' for how trees should look. They also trimmed an overgrown olive which looks amazing.

John's team was fast, tidy and quite reasonable. Our neighbor used them as well on a number of trees (including Redwood) and he is more than happy with the work they did for him.

JD Tree service is the best in the west and I highly recommend to use his services! John and his crew are very hard workers, professional and get the job done very safely and fast. Thank you for your awesome service!

Last year when I hired (Davey Trees) Jeremy showed up on time & did a good job. What happened??!! During this past week he has stood me up twice to do one (brace my Cherry Blossom tree so it wouldn't tip over & almost break every time it rains) of the 3 things I needed him to do...& he couldn't even do that...no phone call...no text...to tell me he wasn't going to show up. I would NOT recommend Davey Trees to anyone.

We have a once-beautiful blue spruce. Davey guys have been trying to save it and it seems healthier. This time they took the dead branches out so it looks less like a Halloween prop. And a fertilization and beetle treatment. Hoping for the best. Prices were way below another tree trimming we had done last year. Left the street and sidewalk clean and no hassle. On time. Friendly people.

VIOLATION OF THE MIGRATORY BIRD TREATY ACT on 2/26/24
This company was contracted to trim my palm trees by PG&E. They did not notify me that they were coming and showed up and butchered my trees while I was at work. Had they notified me, I would have told them that there were protected falcons nesting in one palm, and great horned owls nesting in the other. Because of their negligence and the ignorance of the trimmer, the falcons lost their nest and habitat that they had lived in for years. Not only this, but the great horned owls lost their nest and habitat and I came home to find 2 dead baby owls that were probably days away from hatching. They had beaks, claws on their talons, and were developing feathers. I was devastated and mortified. Our house has been on the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival tour for the last 2 years. These birds meant a lot to me, and I am heartbroken. On top of all of this, they did a horrible job. I had to leave a star to leave a review, but zero stars.

They removed a coupler of 8 foot diameter trees flawlessly.

There are no better people to hire for all tree work. They are professional, keep, and are priced fairly. They are the kind of people who will be your friends. We had a tree fall and another needed work. They were outstanding. No need to contact anyone else.

Davey was hired by PG&E to trim the trees from the high-wires on my street. This definitely needs to be done, but the service the crew did was completely unacceptable - A hack job!
When I contacted Daveys they were very pleasant, but when I asked if they could have a crew come out and properly trim the tree
the answer, was they would hope they do better next time!! A beautiful redwood tree, that has one side in the middle completely hacked out, the tree is off-balance with the heavy side towards my house - I truly could not imagine a worse job - Unfortunately they were not hired by me, so they don’t really care!

Just want to explain my wonderful experience with The Davey Tree team located in Soquel. First off during this last storm here in the Santa Cruz mountains a lightning bolt hit a 120 foot plus tall redwood tree next to my house so, I called Alisha yesterday just before lunch and told her of my concerns with this tree looking like it could come down on my house, especially with the high winds predicted, she immediately had Jeremy come to my place and surmise the situation. He put a game plan together and sent 2 of his crew out with all the equipment needed to fall the 2 remaining split halves of this massive tree. Jacob & Matt worked as team to fall both sections of this tree independently landing them exactly where they proposed. I was totally impressed the way these gents both demonstrated their adept skillsets while moving in unison with precision to get this task done. I might sound like I am exaggerating but, it's the truth, Davey Tree Service saved my Home from almost certain, severe damage and they did this with minimal notice, I will always highly recommend this team!!!

All the people at Davey Tree are super professional and great communicators. I have had chips delivered from them numerous times over the years at three different locations. They are very gracious and flexible and they have a really upbeat and positive attitude. They are pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend them.

After the recent severe storms, we called Davey to remove several large broken branches from monumental cypress trees behind our house. These branches were 50 feet up, and were quite hazardous. Davey gets my highest rating, for end-to-end service. TJ the estimator knew what he was doing, and he was clear and timely in all communications around quotation and schedule. The removal team was efficient, professional, and friendly. Jaime, Manny, and Omar got the job done in 3.5 hours, despite it being complex and dangerous work.

Working with Davey Tree Company has been a dream! We had a 30' pear tree that we tried to save over a few years, but eventually the blight won, probably because we didn't know to hire Davey right away!

TJ came and removed the tree quickly, chipped everything, and even left the yard cleaner than when he arrived! Octavio was just as wonderful when he arrived to grind the stump, making sure we could plant our new avocado tree in the same spot. Octavio even took away a few extra wood rounds we had in the yard that we no longer needed, which was so kind of him. He also blew off our patio and made sure everything was pristine when he left - above and beyond!

They both also looked over our remaining apple tree, which is struggling, to give advice on how to save it. We will be hiring TJ to prune and help us get it back to a healthy happy tree.

Between the storms and blight, we lost 4 very old trees in the past year and a half. It was very sad to have them removed, but TJ and Octavio really made the experience easy. They are kind and thoughtful and you can tell they truly love what they do and are passionate about saving any trees that can be saved!

We will recommend Davey to anyone who needs help saving, pruning, or removing trees!

We asked Davey Tree for advice around treatment options for oaks that have developed persistent aphid infestation and resulting moldy sap drip. Travis helped us identify and diagnose the problem, and was VERY knowledgable but gave clear simple information. Travis helped us navigate questions from neighbors and to find the most bee-friendly options for treatment. Our tech John showed up promptly as scheduled and was super helpful and thoughtful about neighbors. He went above and beyond to make sure we had groundcloth and mulch in place to isolate treatment from pollinators, and was careful to water in our treatment and fertilizer. John was also careful and safe, and knowledgeable about the materials. I especially appreciate that Davey gave us a plan for a one-time treatment to "reset" the problem, not trying to sign us up for a regular schedule. We recommend this company completely and without any hesitation. Thanks to this great team.
