We have a typical yard in San Diego with small entrance to our backyard . Juan had many ideas for our space . He completed a design and spent a lot of time to get it right to our likes and budget. All question we had were answered with facts and information which gave us a piece of mind in all work being done. I recommend Juan because of his honest work and is very experienced in his services. Thanks for everything Juan my backyard is now my oasis!

We woke up to a puddle of water in our living room due to a slope in our backyard. I called Juan and that day he came out and gave us a detailed quote with several different options and prices to grade the yard. Once we agreed on the work to be done, the VERY next day he came out and completed the work quickly and professionally. Will definitely be using him again for my landscaping needs.

Theres a reason they have 5 stars. Juan was kind and patient and my favorite part, efficient. I messed up and piled my dirt to high and after several calls I just googled how to remove dirt and found their YOUTUBE thinking there was no way I was getting someone else to do it. I called their number and they answered immediately and worked with my schedule and budget. I 1000 % recommend

I needed some work on my yard as it had been neglected for a couple years. Juan came out and gave me a great price and started the next day on removing my topsoil and started the grading. He removed a couple stumps as well. I am doing some of the work myself and Juan has worked with me on this as well. Helping me with tips on how to do the work as well as referrals for better pricing on material. Great overall experience and I will be calling him again in the future as well as recommending him to others

I hired Juan's team for Sod removal. His team was excellent to work with. He was quick with providing a quote and it was reasonably priced compared to others. He took the time to listen to what I needed done and explained his process in detail. His team was punctual, got the job done, and cleaned up the job site.

Juan and his team is amazing. I had a fire violation from the city of San Diego. It required that all trees be trimmed, weeds cut down, and all debris removed. He did all of this, and also cleaned up my backyard and cut down some trees. All done in four days which included the weekend. Honestly I thought it would take much longer. My backyard looked like a disaster and now it doesn't. I plan on using his services for future projects.

Failed to show for a scheduled routine appointment. There was no notification and no follow up. We found out about the failure to show due to our tenant complaining about the lawn.

My wife contacted them to make up the appointment. They refused and threatened to drop us a customers, which we gladly accepted. Apparently they think a lawn can go 4 weeks without service in the summer.

They are unreliable, unprofessional, and frankly rude.

Edit after reply for the owner: The psycho that owns this business has been repeatedly calling and texting my wife since this review was posted. It has risen to the point of harassment, and if he fails to stop I will take him to court.

I parked my car and they started working next to it and not only did they threw water on it but fill it with grass they didn't even offer apologies or to clean my car

We love Johnny’s Landscape & Maintenance! Our yard is mainly xeriscaping and artificial turf. During the rainy season the weeds grow thick and fast in and around the rocks and DG. Johnny’s crew does a great job. They are professional and their prices are reasonable. Our yard looks great!

I reached out to Johnny’s landscape and maintenance because our lawn was dying in the middle with green only around the perimeter. I expected to make an appointment and get the problem diagnosed and hopefully fixed. He responded to my image and diagnosed from that image alone what he thought the problem was! He didn’t have to do that. He saved us some money and time, and I greatly appreciated it! Because of that type of honesty, if we find the problem was not fixed or had any other issues with our yard we would not hesitate to reach out to him again. Highly recommend!

We've been happy with Johnny's Landscape for over 7 years. The crew does a nice job maintaining our lawn and trimming our hedges, and have always been consistent. They also make sure our property is secured and gates are locked when they are finished.

We hired Johnny’s Landscaping for a large landscaping project that included turf installation, irrigation, fencing, and cleanup. The overall experience had some positives, but also several frustrations that left me disappointed with the final outcome.

Pros:
• Communication was generally responsive, and I appreciated the use of videos to illustrate the plan of action.
• They executed the relocation of our hot tub smoothly and without issues.

Cons:
• The biggest issue was turf discoloration along our fence line that appeared within weeks of installation. While the contractor acknowledged a potential cause, the resolution offered (replacement of a section that likely wouldn’t match) did not address the customer satisfaction aspect of the problem. For the size of this investment, I expected more effort toward a satisfactory solution.
• It took two months after the final walk-through to complete relatively small punch-list items.
• An irrigation issue arose that could have been caught and fixed with a quick demo during the walk-through.
• The landscaping “clean up” in the front and backyards consisted mainly of trimming bushes and spreading mulch. For the cost, I expected more attention to detail. I ultimately ended up demolishing both areas and plan to do a total hardscape/landscape redo.
• The fence enclosure around the pool equipment was functional, but the paint/stain job was rushed (seams and edges left unfinished, uneven coverage, paint overrun), and the latch sticks. I plan to repaint myself.

Overall, the project was completed, but the lack of attention to detail and unwillingness to address the turf issue in a way that ensured customer satisfaction overshadowed the positives. For a project of this scale and cost, I expected higher standards and more pride in the finish.

After months of attempting to remodel the front yard on our own, we gave up and decided to hire professionals... and it turned out to be the best decision we've made!

Duy and Johnny both came out to our house to get a feel for what we were looking for, giving insightful advice on plant types, design and general maintenance. We got several quotes for the work and choose Johnny's based on price, overall professionalism and ability to schedule our work in a timely fashion. They were very patient with us as we changed our mind a couple times before the installation. Duy in particular was easy to communicate with and was awesome at answering our many questions.

Their crew fully demoed, leveled and installed new plant material, sod, mulch, bender board and boulders all in a single day. It was incredible to leave for work with an uneven dirt patch and come home to a gorgeous, fully remodeled front yard.

We've had many neighbors stop by already with glowing reviews. We're overall very satisfied and would recommend them for any remodeling projects!

We are thrilled with the landscape renovations we had done by Johnny's Landscaping!
