We gave Bentson a very difficult landscape to design as it is under two Elm trees and shaded for a good part of the summer. The ground was a spiderweb of roots and finding plant locations was difficult. The solution was to mound portions of the yard that were exposed to the sun and utilise plants that would create a more woodland design with grasses, for example, rather than a desert landscape. We will see what happens in the second year as the plants grow, but Andrew and his lead supervisor Alex Are hard workers and very attentive to our request. The installation cut our water bill in half. Bentson landscape is a company that can be trusted to do a good job.

Andrew is also an accomplished artist, and I have one of his large landscape paintings over my sofa. Because I already know of his talent using paint, whenever I see a yard project he has done, I take special note as to how it is different than other landscape projects I see done today. So often, I see the large companies making odd pathways, odd dry river beds and odd placement of boulders as if it were a formula. With Andrew's projects, I note how he has thought those things through with his artistic mind. Drought tolerant landscapes can actually look natural, and in harmony with the architecture of the house. Next year, I am adding an ADU in back of my home, and I already know Andrew will be hired to do the landscaping.

Andrew rebuilt my front yard about a year ago. We wanted to remove our turf and replace it with low water landscaping. Andrew guided us through the process including the paperwork to get the incentive payment. The resulting front yard is beautiful and demands much less water. There were a couple of plants that did not make it but Andrew was there to replace them. I am very pleased with the results of this project after one full year.

We are so happy with our new front yard by Bentson Landscape. Andrew was easy to work with and his crew of Alex and Darren are amazing. They worked hard, cleaning up so much dirt, roots, etc. and incorporating new life to our yard! They took into account our likes and requests, including incorporating sod. They installed a high efficiency sprinkler system to help with decreasing water usage in conjunction with leveling the yard to eliminate runoff water. Andrew designed a French drain because the water pools next my house. I love native and Mediterranean plants so Andrew designed a garden to include those plants. I bought some of my favorite native plants at CalBG and he added them to the design. My backyard was just dirt after I had Hartman-Baldwin Design-Build Inc. update and add on to my 1956 house which had been a rental for 16 years. I’m sure you will be pleased if you use Bentson Design-Build Inc.

Andrew and his team are absolutely wonderful! They are SO incredibly gifted at what they do. My yard was a jungle of neglect and they were able to transform it into a sanctuary of peace and joy. They replaced my lawn with kurapia – which I highly recommend. It grew in more thick, and lush than my grass ever did in 5 weeks. I now have an orchard of fruit trees, a dedicated space for gardening, a pollinator garden, a native garden and dedicated space for all my gardening and lawn care tools ect. Everything is drought tolerant and surviving the summer heat. I also had them do some hardscaping – some brickwork and a small retaining wall. They are both not only well made but stunning to look at. The redid my entire watering system and then made sure I knew how to use it properly. I’m new to drip systems so a few weeks later when I panicked that it wasn’t working, Andrew sent one of his guys over the very next day who double checked every single plant to make sure they were getting watered. These guys are not just talented, they have an eye for beauty & aesthetic and are just genuinely nice guys to have around. We had a great experience with them.

We are so happy we found Bentson Landscape. Our backyard was previously so outdated and unusable. Andrew made an amazing design plan and was super collaborative with us through the whole process. He, Alex and Darren were knowledgably about all things landscape related (tress, plants, lighting, hardscapes, softscapes) and so great to have around. We missed them when they completed the job. We can't wait to have them come back and do our front yard.

Andrew designed a lovely drought tolerant landscape for my Claremont home. My front yard was very sloped making it nearly impossible to keep the lawn green. Water just rolled off. Andrew’s design took into account my ideas and color choices. He made great suggestions and willingly made plan amendments. His team was professional and knowledgeable. Andrew and his team did an amazing job with our front yard! After completing our back yard last year, we asked them to come reimagine our front yard!

They worked some magic clearing tree stumps, and an old succulent garden to start clean!

They leveled the yard, installed new irrigation, created a beautiful path from the sidewalk and created a beautiful landscape of natural grasses and flowers! They also cleaned up an old walkway to the backyard that had been damaged by overgrown tree roots.

It feels like we have a brand new house!! And the curb appeal is stunning! We’d highly recommend Andrew and his team!

Andrew and his crew were great to work with. After sharing photos with Andrew, of the look we were going for, he easily quoted us as well as gave us ideas on how to best accomplish. We wanted a small deck and California native plants; our overgrown succulents had taken over and we needed an overhaul. His team quickly cleaned up and created a nice pebble deck, using CORE-TEN Steel to hold it all in place. They planted flowering grass, Kurapia, along with other plants and grasses. They properly irrigated and made sure that the yard will be easy to maintain and keep clean for years to come. We are so happy to have found Bentson Landscape, especially after having talked with so many landscapers in the area that just didn’t work out for one reason or another.

Andrew has completed several projects at multiple locations with excellent results. Each project was completed in a timely manner with full communication from design phase through installation. Andrew’s designs are well thought out, look beautiful, and are water wise. Andrew and his crew come highly recommended.

Working with Andrew and his team was a great experience. He brought my "vision" to life and helped me bring gorgeous succulents and cacti to my backyard. I used to hate my backyard but now I literally spend time walking around in it looking at all my plants because they make me so happy!

The lines of separation make everything look very clean, and he also re-did all our irrigation. We entertain in our backyard often and we have received so many compliments. He also came in on budget and on time, and he even returned a broom a couple months later when we noticed it was missing and asked if he accidentally took it.

We had been struggling with landscaping that wasn’t fit for our lifestyle - high water, high maintenance, dead spots - for years. I would spend countless hours researching plants that weren’t available at my local nursery. Or buying plants, lugging them home, and digging holes only to have them die. I didn’t enjoy going in the backyard because it just reminded me of all the work I had to do. I felt overwhelmed. I wanted peace and beauty. I wanted it to look like an extension of the natural beauty in our area rather than “landscaped.”

Andrew and his team came in and delivered that while optimizing our sprinkler system, fixing our grading issues, building and replacing two rotted out vegetable planter boxes, and dramatically reducing the weeds that grow year after year. It’s now been six years. Our plants have grown in and I still love the work that they did.

So often people think low water equals just cacti and succulents, but there is this whole world of beautiful, green plants - with flowers - that is possible without a huge water bill.

I used to spend hours and hours weeding my backyard. Since their installation, it has become easier to manage.

We had removed our lawn years prior and replaced it with wood chips. While that is low water, it’s also just ugly. Andrew installed this beautiful buffalo grass. In the past six years, I think we have mowed it 2 times and it has withstood our active dog. It is wonderful to have a lawn that doesn’t require a lot of water and yet is soft under your feet.

I now love being in my backyard. It is that peaceful refuge that I wanted. Plus Andrew comes now and again and gives it a good clean up. I highly recommend Andrew and his team. They can create the outdoor experience that you want.

Bentson created a natural dry creek and water wise planting to complement our four mature sycamore trees. The results were terrific. It's low maintenance and saves water. Andrew and his crew were polite punctual and very hard working as well as the massonary crew Andrew hired.
