Home Serve has been a worthwhile investment in repairing home appliances. It is reassuring to know that a repair, when needed is performed by a professional technician. I do not have to worry about being overcharged for service or false repairs.
I have used Home Smart, now Home Serve, for over 15 years and would highly recommend their timely, professional and reliable service.
Recently, I had some minor repairs to my hot water heater. Barry was professional, knowledgeable and timely in his service.

I woke up on President's Day with no hot water, and called Homeserve for a technician to come to the house to look at the water heater. The Tech arrived in 20 minutes. Verdict? Leaking water heater. He wrote up the quote, and before I could sign the contract from Homeserve electronically, the Installation Team knocked on the front door. No lie! Four and a half hours after my initial call, the job was complete. The two HVAC Techs were great people, efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and considerate of my home and belongings. And the cost was half of what it would have cost without Homeserve! And the hot shower was the best! I have never had better appliance service. Thank you Homeserve. (Oh, And wife endorses every word of this.)

I have a home warranty with Homesmart/HomeServe, and when my furnace stopped working, a technician recommended a replacement. Brandon Forte from Homesmart visited to assess the setup and sent over a quote. We then switched to chat, where I had several questions, and he patiently explained everything in detail. As our conversation progressed, it became clear that a few adjustments were needed. Brandon quickly updated the quote with a more tailored and compelling offer, which I happily accepted. The installers were professional and completed the work on time. They did a great job explaining both the furnace and heat pump operations. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the service provided by Brandon, Jose, and his team.

Terrible Experience with HomeSmart - Complete Scam!

I recently signed up for HomeSmart's services and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their customer service is incredibly poor, and I strongly believe that this company is a scam. Here's why:

Firstly, I contacted HomeSmart to request a check-up on my water heater. Despite making an appointment, nobody showed up as promised. To make matters worse, when I called them to inquire about the no-show, their representatives were extremely rude and dismissive towards me. Instead of offering assistance or scheduling a new appointment, they informed me to conduct my own research and figure out who to contact. This is completely unacceptable!

Additionally, since I became a HomeSmart subscriber, they have consistently failed to fulfill their responsibilities. It feels like I'm throwing away my hard-earned money on a service that I don't receive. When I tried to cancel my subscription due to their incompetence, I was shocked to hear that it was not possible. Apparently, I am stuck with a yearly subscription, which feels like a blatant trap to keep customers tied to their inadequate services. This behavior is a clear indication of a scam!

In conclusion, my experience with HomeSmart has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Their lack of professionalism, the absence of any accountability for their actions, and their refusal to issue cancellations are all clear signs of a scam. I advise everyone to steer clear of this company and find a reputable and reliable service provider instead.

Save yourself the stress, time, and money - avoid HomeSmart at all costs!

Almost took me for $8500. They sold me an entirely new AC unit when the current unit was perfectly fine! Thank God I caught these guys before they blatantly ripped me off.

My wife tried to turn on the AC when the temperatures escalated a few weeks ago, to no avail. The air handler pushed air but nothing from the outside compressor/condenser. I was out of town and, having the HomeServe insurance plan, she just called them for service. They dispatched a guy from HomeSmart out who immediately determined the “whole unit is shot and needs replacement”.

They sent a sales guy out the next day and we signed a contract to replace basically everything in the HVAC system to the tune of about $8500.

The night before the scheduled replacement, I had a thought about the circuit breaker. Had I simply failed to throw the switch? Indeed, I had. Yes, I’m an idiot for not checking that first!

I immediately contacted my sales guy to tell him they were either also idiots, or really poor scammers. I also made several attempts to reach PJ Lara, the regional manager for some attempt at an explanation, but she is obviously too embarrassed to return my messages.

Well, 4 weeks later, my home is cool and comfortable with a perfectly operational HVAC system. As usual.

I did, however, hire L&L Heating and Cooling to come out on July 2nd and inspect the system just to be sure of its condition, and told them nothing about my experience with HomeSmart. Their inspection concluded that the system was performing flawlessly.

Good luck HomeSmart. You really need to re-evaluate your business practice. In particular, business ethics. Nobody appreciates being ripped off.

Homesmart is a money scam. Wasted money on them for years with better service from Home Depot. They charge monthly for nothing. If you try to remove the charge, they bounce you between Xcel Energy and themselves with no one knowlegdable or taking responsibility for what they are not providing but yet charging, so good luck getting the funds removed from your bill. The exact definition of a scam.

I have had my appliances serviced by JND Appliances in the last 30 days via HOME SMART per Excel Energy. Chris was awesome and I left several amazing reviews for him. Unfortunately, on his last service call for parts he advised me that a hose had a small leak and the replacement and labor would be $300.00, I laughed and said I could do it for less than $30.00.
I left him to continue the repairs, on last night (November 25, 2025) I purchased plumbing tape and stopped the supposed leak. Unfortunately, as I was pulling my machine away from the wall, I observed a large shoot print in my lower lingerie washing machine, this machine has only been used a couple of times and there certainly was no damage to it. I immediately called JND Appliances and left a voicemail to that effect. I received a call from Brian this morning blaming me for the damage, telling me that my machine was old and falling apart, and Chris would have used the handle to move the machine around. I was insulted and infuriated at his conversation as I only wanted an acknowledgement and an apology. I informed him that my washer was less than 3 years old, state of the art, and doesn’t have a front door handle. He continued with his rant and I ended the call as this conversation was going nowhere. The company has several listed locations, but their main location is in Loveland, CO. They have numerous negative reviews, but as always you think the customer is over exaggerating until it happens to you. I updated my review to HOME SMART and am making you aware to film your service repair individuals when they are in your home, as they will destroy and lie. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY… YOU WILL REGRET IT…
HOMESMART-EXCEL IS AN AMAZING SERVICE, NOT ALL OF THEIR CONTRACTED PROVIDERS ARE!!!
