We were in drastic need of a large scale clean up of our landscaping and replacement of our lawn. Don was extremely quick to respond when I initially reached out and performed an personal visit the next day. He was very helpful and informative during the walk through of the property, provided a plan to get us healthy, and had a team scheduled to come out only two days later. Both our front and back yards look reborn! I have already had multiple neighbors compliment the transformation. Thank you Don!

Don completely transformed my backyard to an outdoor oasis. Trees, shrubs, pergola, outdoor gas fireplace, concrete walkway, concrete steps, and french drain. Not only did he and his team do an amazing job they also identified and fixed several issues that could have led to worse problems. He also has a few good jokes up his sleeve. Quick, efficient, professional and reasonably priced. 10/10 would recommend and I look forward to scheduling more work in the future.

Don King, of Don King Landscaping, has a way of delivering what he said he would deliver, but yet doing it in an unprofessional and untimely manner that he then turns around to make YOU feel like you were in the wrong. Here is what I hope you will take away from this review:
-Don King is unprofessional.
-Don King will not hesitate to take your money.
-Don King is hard to get in touch with......unless you would like to cancel with him and get a refund on something he said he would get to you WEEKS before.
My husband and I are first time homeowners and have 3 children. We are trying to use our money wisely. We have a new build, so we were seeking someone to start from scratch. To summarize our frustrating interaction with Don, we wrote him a check for $450 for a 2D drawing of the basic proposal for the backyard. He said it was "easy" and would take "a couple of days." He cashed our check within HOURS. After over 2 weeks, we asked for an email to show what he had come up with. He wasn't finished. After another few days, we asked him to cancel and refund us our money because in the meantime, we had another landscaper come out who drew up plans for FREE in the time that Don wasn't responding. Don eventually drew up the plans and tried to send them to us via certified mail, which we then refused because he had not responded to us or even told us our plans were finished.
Basically, we asked for a refund for failure to deliver services, he scrambled, finished them and then tried to act like nothing had been out of the ordinary.
Following up with him has proved frustrating as he has claimed that his end of the bargain has been held up and we will not be receiving any of our money back. Four hundred and fifty dollars. Gone.
He also ,very sarcastically, signed his last email with "yours truly."
Take our experience to heart and do NOT give Don King ANY money. You will feel swindled.

Don’s crew did an excellent new driveway, path and steps. They replaced a buckled eyesore. Responsive and finished promptly. We have received many compliments on their work.
Addendum: Did contract for separate job. Paid up front but job not completed and money not refunded although promised to refund

After years of living in our house, we finally decided to get a concrete patio in our back yard.
We contacted Don King Landscaping in Erie, he came by to give us an estimate which was quite reasonable.
Johnathon and his (hard working and very friendly) crew showed up and took care of it all.
Within a week from getting an estimate to being able to make use of it, we now have a great place to sit and enjoy our backyard.
Top notch service and overall we are happy with how it turned out.
Will highly recommend the Company and crew.

Don and his team did a great job for us! And man, were they fast. It was about 8 days from first meeting to completed project. They overhauled our backyard, including lots of beautiful flagstone, extra grass, and drainage. They worked over the weekend, and through a snow day. Don was extremely easy to get in touch with, and he even had his guys blow our sprinklers out free of charge since the freeze was coming. Our yard looks really nice and professionally finished. Don really knows his stuff, and will do a great job for you!

I needed to rip out a bunch of sod and Don King came out within hours to provide a quote. The quote was extremely fair, and he provided some great advice on my project. Within 48 hours the job was done, and done well. They went above and beyond to get the job done and save me time and sweat. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Use caution if considering Don King. We hired him to redo the sod of our front lawn. Initially, Don was very pushy with my husband and didn't even want him to take the time to talk to me about the proposal before signing the deal. What followed after the contract was made was essentially a circus. On at least 3 occasions, Don failed to show up on the appointed day to do the work. And he NEVER called to say he wasn't coming. We had to initiate the phone call every single time to figure out why he had not made the appointment. Once, his reason was "You had company in town, I didn't want to bother you." We did not have guests over and who is he to just randomly decide we don't want to be bothered with a kept appointment??

The missed appointments went on for a couple weeks. Phone tag was endless as he can be very hard to reach. And then it turned out that Don did not want to do all the work that had been agreed upon in the contract. Apparently "front yard" is up for interpretation and he thought it meant just half of our front yard. But he said he would still do it all. But a day or two later it finally ended when Don gave us a call and said he had driven by our house and decided he didn't want to do it and would be giving us our deposit back.

We waited two weeks for our check in the mail, at which point I called him and he realized it hadn't been sent. We then received the check a few days later and are finally done with Don King for good.

I am honestly relieved he ended up bailing because as much of a nightmare as it was getting him to do anything, I can't imagine it would have improved once he started the work on our lawn. The problems were endless with how unprofessional, hard to reach, and unreliable Don ended up being. If you enjoy phone tag, unanswered messages, and unkept appointments, Don is your king.

My project was fairly large in size, about 3700 sq ft of turf to make go away and replace with rock, mounds with mulch and boulders. I could not have been any more satisfied with the results. Don and his crew are like a family. When he works with you, you become part of that family. He is old school. He listens to his customers and delivers. Rare to find that today.

I found Don King Landscaping through the Firestone Home Depot installation services program. Mr. King and his employees are hard working professionals who provide the expertise to get the job done. I am happy with my new concrete patio and separate fire pit area. Shout out to Johnny (project manager) for managing the onsite work. I look forward to working with you and your company again.

Don has worked with me for Many projects and the results has been amazing one time he worked on my yard he made my grass look alive before it was dead. I will love to work with him again

Don and his team did an incredible job helping me with an urgent project. He came over right away and was very communicative and professional throughout the entire process. Don King completed a bed rock patio for our back yard. He is friendly, respectful and on time with his works. We had the best experience working with Don and his team! The quality of work far exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier with the landscaping they did for us. Don and his team are ALWAYS punctual (which is very much appreciated) and very professional as well. Don takes real pride in his projects and it shows in the end results. Was looking for a company to lay new gravel and some edging to clean up the yard. We hired Don King and his team because he was very responsive and he took time to explain what his team could do. They offered a few additional items to be corrected at the same time. The price was reasonable. They showed up with a team of people, they got the job done quickly and it was actually done beyond what I expected. It is hard to find a contractor to even respond in today much less find a company that goes beyond the expectations. I would highly recommend Don King and his team, they have done very good work for me and I will use him again in future projects.

Hired Done for the first time 6 months ago, since that time I have hired him for two more projects. He has always done exactly what we spoke about. I am amazed how fast Don responds and we quickly layout the plan and it starts right away. They have done a great job for me, I would recommend them for all your outdoor needs.

I was really glad to find Don King's landscaping. I wanted a local company with a personal interaction. One of the reasons was cost as in the past my experience with large companies and corporations was expensive and cumbersome. At Don King's landscaping the customer is encouraged to interact with the workers. This makes it much easier to get exactly what you want and feel good about the process. Also, Don negotiated with me and was able to complete my project within my budget. Unlike some of the large companies that make you wait a significant amount of time Don had his crew at the job site soon after we agreed on the price. I very much like that my calls were always answered. I can recommend them without hesitation. Don offers quality work and good value!

Don King has done a lot of work for me over the last 20 years. He has removed grass in my backyard to create a garden,fixed the pump on my well and removed bushes from my front yard. Don and his crew are very efficient. I would highly recommend him.Don and his crew just replace a fence in my front yard. I had a very old wire fence , they removed the that and put up a beautiful chain linked fence, Totally happy with the outcome. Thanks to Don's crew for doing such a great job.

Don King Landscaping has done a great job with my project. Don, Mario and their team have communicated with me every step of the way, arrived and completed the work on time, and exceeded my expectations in terms of quality.

One thing I loved about Don that I have not had from other contractors in the past, was an item was discovered after the start of the project that would require a <5% cost increase to our agreed upon price. Don explained this and showed me what was needed, as well as got my approval before continuing. This kind of transparency and communication is invaluable in a contractor.

Don also worked within my budget -- we decided to phase out our project instead of doing everything at once. And as a result of the amazing work Don, Mario and the rest of their team did on this first phase, we will be hiring them for the ensuing phases without a doubt.
