That guy back there was so rude! Like I just stood there while he talked down on me. Also, what’s with the spit up on the shirt??

Long story short: these guys are great!
I typically repair my own consoles if there is an issue, but these guys have never done any gatekeeping of info and have always been super helpful to me when i have questions or am asking about ifo for a repair or modification. I've purchased quite a few handheld systems like my 3DS from them and they all are exactly what I paid for and expect. They are Also good guys to just talk retro with in general. If you ever need any kind of repair this is the place to go! -
I paid over $150 to have this shop install an IPS screen and a rechargeable battery mod on my original GameBoy, and the results are frankly dangerous.
1. Critical Structural/Safety Failure:
The shop used hot glue to anchor a USB-C charging board to the battery cover. Hot glue is not a structural adhesive; the first time I unplugged the cable, the receptacle shell (the outer metal ring) was ripped entirely off the circuit board because the glue held the shell while the board stayed in the console. This has exposed a mangled insulated tongue (the internal connector pins), rendering the charger useless and potentially creating a short-circuit risk. There are visible scorch marks on the adhesive.
2. Poor Display Installation:
The new IPS screen was misaligned and was sealed with visible hair and dust trapped between the display and the lens. The screen also suffers from subtle flickering and vertical color banding, suggesting poor ribbon cable seating or a failing voltage regulator.
3. Audio Interference:
Since the "upgrade," there is an intermittent buzzing sound from the speaker that was not present before, likely due to poor shielding or "dirty" power from the cheap charging circuit they installed.
4. Physical Damage:
The "installation" of the USB-C port involved hacking a crude, jagged hole into the original plastic battery cover.
This wasn't a professional modification; it was a "hack job" that has compromised the integrity of a vintage console. I strongly advise taking your business elsewhere if you value your hardware. -
They came through on fixing my original gameboy when other people said no. It was worth the hour drive to Denver. I will only do business with them and no one else

Recently ordered a gameboy sp, and I was extremely happy with the customer service, and knowledge about the mods, and products I’ve been window shopping with them for a while and I’m extremely happy about finally pulling the trigger!

Came in with stick drift, had the controller ready in 1-2 hours after stating it would take 1-2 days, very impressive.

Took my PS3 in for a disk drive replacement and cleaning, and they did everything I asked for, and then some. Slightly more expensive than I was anticipating, but the quality of service was well worth it. I will be a return customer.

I recently restored an old Nintendo DSi for my cousin’s birthday and needed a few replacement parts. Retro Repair was the only tech repair shop I called that didn’t pressure me into letting them handle the restoration. Instead, they were incredibly friendly, helpful, and supportive throughout the process.
The staff was highly knowledgeable and answered all my questions with patience and clarity. Their advice made my project much easier, and I genuinely felt like they cared about helping me succeed. Based on my experience, I’d absolutely trust Retro Repair with any of my future tech repairs and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of repair services.
Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or just need expert assistance, Retro Repair is the place to go! -
This repair shop is great! I’ve bought consoles here and had a few thing repaired here, most recently my ps5 which stopped turning on. Very grateful to these guys for getting the job done. When my friends ps5 broke he took it to two other repair shops before this one and retro repair is the only one to resolve the issue. 5 stars!!!!!
