I had a consultation with Sustainable Design Build regarding a basement project, and even though the project ended up being too small for the type of work they typically take on, Mike McCarty still spent a tremendous amount of time helping me.

He patiently answered my questions, shared his knowledge, and provided multiple referrals for mold remediation, testing, and construction professionals who could better fit my needs. At no point did I feel rushed or dismissed. In fact, he went above and beyond to help me move forward with my project even though there was no benefit to his company.

That level of honesty, professionalism, and genuine willingness to help is rare. It was clear that Mike truly cared about helping me find the right path rather than simply trying to sell me something.

I am incredibly grateful for the time, guidance, and referrals he provided. If my project ever grows into something that fits SDB's scope, they will absolutely be the first company I call.

It's great to see a builder that pays such close attention to detail and who really cares about their projects. I have dealt with many builders in the past that are just worried about completing a job even if that means cutting corners. You will not get that with Sustainable Design Build! I cannot recommend this company enough.

We used SDB to do a large remodel. We tore down some walls and gutted a couple rooms. They were very professional did great work to transform our house.

Sustainable Design Build was the Design/ Build firm for a few large scale projects I worked on around Denver and I found them to be very responsive and professional. They received many accolades from their clients.

SDB did a great job of transforming what was on paper to something tangible. Our project was done in one of the hardest years to try and build a house which was 2020. Through all the building cost increases, delays, quarantines, etc. they were able to deliver a finished project that we truly enjoy.

We used Sustainable Design Build to finish our basement. We absolutely love how it turned out! Our project manager was so helpful throughout the whole process and it has exceeded our expectations in beauty, design and functionality!

SDB not only completed the job in an expedited way, but completed the job on budget and in design scope. We are very happy with our new bathrooms in our home. The workers were not only polite but incredibly responsive and timely.

We popped the top on our house and added 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The construction phase went very quickly and finished in about 4.5 months. All of the guys at SDB are friendly, professional and easy to work with.

Last October I had water damage occur at my home that I had just bought a month earlier. I was dissatisfied with my Insurance company and the contractor they recommended and I found Zach on Home Advisor's website. He immediately phoned me and made an appointment to come by. He spoke with my Insurance adjuster and before I knew it, the repairs had been approved and took just over a week. The crew showed up when they said they would, and the communication and respect was top notch from all at Sustainable Design. I could not be happier and more grateful.

So glad we chose SBD for our flooring install. Zach was personable and responsive to our financial limitations. He provided excellent input on some special needs that we had. We delayed our date a couple times which did not seem to be a problem for SDB. The installers did an excellent job and finished in the expected time frame. Our new floors look amazing!!

We just finished the design phase of our Pop-Top with SDB and they have all of the contacts. The team at SDB brought in a qualified designer, structural engineer, asbestos and lead tester, blower door tester, Manual JDS tester, etc. We are about to embark on the build change so I'm looking forward to writing another 5 star review.

1 year update: We have passed the 1-year mark since moving back into our home after SDB added a second floor, remodeled the first floor and remodeled the basement. We have not had 1 issue and the build quality is excellent. 1-year later and we still love our home and the work done by SDB. Thank you!

SDB did a beautiful job on our basement remodel, incorporating our needs into a a design that worked with the limited options a old bungalow basement has to offer. The finish work was top notch. They've also responded quickly and effectively to a few small follow up fixes. We definitely recommend Sustainable Build Design.

We worked with SBD for our pop top in the Berkeley neighborhood in Denver. We blew out a bedroom and expanded the kitchen on the main floor and added 3 beds and 2 baths on the new floor. We definitely recommend SDB. Derek walked us through the design process so patiently and helped us envision what we wanted and needed really before we even knew. We primarily worked with Josh (our PM), Luke, and Tommy and couldn’t have asked for a better team. Our interactions felt more than just transactional. They made us feel like no question was too small or insignificant. Most importantly, the quality of our home is wonderful and it’s well built. We are so happy with our new home. Our one critique is that we would have liked more expertise around making our home all electric and as green as possible. My husband (who works in solar) ended up doing a lot of the legwork for this. Otherwise, we were very happy. Thank you SDB! We appreciate you guys.

We had a fantastic experience with the Sustainable Design Build team. We worked closely with Mike and Derek throughout the project and they were consistently responsive and great listeners- always able to clearly explain why something was a particular way or how things could be changed to meet our needs. Critically they are a company that keeps their word. We ended up having to move half way through out project and the team was very accommodating on figuring out a clean way to wind down the process in a way that was fair for everybody. My wife and I were super impressed with their professionalism and honesty throughout the process and would definitely recommend them to anyone who is considering going through a major remodel and needs help with either the design or construction aspects of their project.

Everyone with Sustainable Design Build has been fantastic to work with. We have worked with them as their electrician and always enjoy working with them. Josh is easy to get a hold of a extremely responsive. I've also seen the work they do for their customers first hand and highly recommend them!

We hired Sustainable Design Build to design and build our basement bathroom and refinish our basement bedroom. Jon and his team did an excellent job with the design, prepared a competitive and fair quote, and got right to work. Having been in Denver for 5 years and struggled to find any reliable contractors, SDB had a stable full of professional contractors for each part of the job (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, Paint, Tile, etc.). They ensured great work and that everything was up to code. For the miscellaneous pieces of the job, Josh and others on the SDB team were responsive and skilled to ensure the smallest details were not missed. When small issues came up, as they do with a project this size, Josh was timely and made sure things were done right. I definitely recommend SDB for anyone looking for help with their remodel and plan to use their services again in the future very soon.
