Custom Home Builder reviews across the US

Lakshmi Jackman is a gem. We worked with her to create the kitchen of our dreams, and the entire remodeling project—from design to completion—was wrapped up in just four months. As anyone who's lived through a remodel knows, it can be disruptive and demanding. A kitchen remodel especially requires trust in your architect, structural engineer, and most importantly, your general contractor.
Lakshmi is exceptional. Her background as a master carpenter gives her a rare depth of understanding, and it shows in every detail. She’s not just a GC—she’s a true craftswoman and a thoughtful leader. She’s built a team of top-tier professionals in plumbing, electrical, custom cabinetry, and painting, and they all reflect her high standards.
The final result? A stunning kitchen and den area that we absolutely love. We trusted Lakshmi from our very first conversation, and she delivered beyond expectations. The time, effort, and collaboration were all worth it.
Thank you, Lakshmi!

I highly recommend Transformations Custom Build for your next home project. We recently completed a 700-square-foot addition on our home in South Austin, and the entire process with Lakshmi and her team was incredibly smooth.

They did a great job managing the project. This included securing reliable and talented subcontractors, successfully navigating the often-difficult permitting and inspection process, and maintaining an incredibly detail-oriented build. They also did all of this while successfully staying on budget. Meeting all these needs is a monumental task in today's market.

Lakshmi followed our architectural drawings precisely and collaborated closely with both us and our architect to find prompt solutions whenever questions arose. Both Lakshmi and Kristen maintained fantastic communication throughout the entire process, always providing timely updates and being readily available for any questions we had.

The result was a wonderful, move-in-ready space we are extremely happy with!

Our kitchen renovation was a complicated project but from the beginning I felt like I was in good hands with Lakshmi; she’s dedicated, professional, highly responsive and an excellent communicator. She’ll never leave you in the dark.. She consistently provides updates and responds to questions in a timely manner. She has high standards. Her team is talented and trustworthy….the quality of some of the work actually exceeded my expectations! We look forward to entertaining in our beautiful new Kitchen! Thank you Lakshmi Jackman with Transformations Custom Build.

From the beginning my husband, Tim and I were impressed with Lakshmi's knowledge and building background. As a daughter of a perfectionist home builder, I have high expectations and Lakshmi and her contractors delivered and then some. She recommended an excellent architect, Diane Kett, for our extensive outdoor living space/kitchen remodel. She was excellent and created three plan options. We were so impressed with our outdoor area that we expanded our remodel to our driveway, two outdoor stairs, and a sidewalk. I can't recommend Lakshmi enough. I've been through SO many remodels in my life, and this is by far the best, and less stressful of them all. Bonus is Lakshmi's sunny disposition and can do attitude. She was extremely responsive and truly cares about her clients.

10 stars but only allowed to provide 5 stars. Our exterior project outdoor kitchen and transformation was one of those projects where we had a general sense of what we just didn’t like and what we would have liked had the prior owners used common sense. Lakshmi and her team listened to what we couldn’t quite articulate and synthesized it into a plan that captured exactly what we wanted. Execution on the plan was flawlesss, and every little and big change that we made along the way was handled with ease and without taking advantage on cost — something that is unfortunately atypical of many contractors. The project dramatically enhanced the aesthetics, functionality, and ability to use our property — we went from the ability to effectively utilize 50% of our outside space to the ability to utilize 75-80% of our space (the challenge was that our home is built on top of solid limestone, and that creates its own challenges). Kudos to Lakshmi, Kristen, Dianne, and all who form a part of Lakshmi’s stellar team.

Most horrible place, never go there, it's a RIP of place,

Horrible service, won't recommend to anybody. Owner is very rude and have a attitude problem.

I just want to express my appreciation to Ali's construction for his excellent service, patiently addressing all my questions in detail, advising me on  adding a room and renovating a basement I feel so good about well worth deal there.

Unprofessional and wouldn’t answer calls during business hours or return calls

I don't think it's cool to promote racism.

Rude, unprofessional, overbudget, and not to mention LATE DELAYED completion. Nightmare to do business with, heed the other reviews and find a competent business man if you need work done. How is he is still is business is a mystery to me.

Saw some of their work in person, not very impressive. They leave a lot of mess around, don't really do a good job of cleaning up and the workmanship is really poor! They even blow their debris away to the neighbors in an area they're working on so that they don't have to clean it up. Their workers are very noisy, don't speak English, well a lot of them anyways, disrespectful to neighboring neighbors and takes a real long time in finishing a job. I would not even recommend them at all to anybody! The pictures in their website are not the ones I really see in actuality!

Almost got run over by one of their employees running a stop sign at full speed, on the phone. He was going fast enough that I wasn’t able to get the plate number, just the business name plastered across the vehicle. Lo and behold, there are other reviews saying the same thing about the driving, so clearly it’s a pattern. If they can’t drive, I certainly wouldn’t trust them to work on my home!

We can't thank Ali enough for our beautiful completely remodeled house!! He is the most creative, most detailed, and most responsible contractor we have ever come across. We are so thankful that he was the one we picked. Thank you, Ali, and the team.

After doing a small project I was impressed and gave them a bigger project. They totally messed up this time. Communication was horrible. Project got delayed by several months with continuous excuses of unable to find crew. Quality went down the drain as they probably sub-contracted to a cheap contractor.
Stay away from these guys. They have done several projects as they claim but I am not sure about their quality on those either. A new home can be deceiving when they show you any finished project but the real quality comes out when you live in the home and find leaks and short cuts in construction shows up.

We called Ali with Ali's Construction for an estimate on build a new home with basement in Palo Alto, Ali came out and we spent time going through different designs before I decided what I wanted. Ali's Construction did a great job building the new custom home for us. Everything is just so perfect now.

Ali's construction helped us rebuild our home in Saratoga from scratch. There are three aspects that I want to highlight about Ali and his team.
1. He delivered great value for money. His quality is second to none. He promised and delivered our home within a budget that others couldn't match.
2. In any construction project there will be surprises. Ali was very professional, and personally addressed these type of issues and ensured that all promises that he had made to us were kept.
3. Having a physical office in the heart of Cupertino also helped. We were able to go and have a chat either in their office or at the site when needed. His team was also very responsive with emails.

Recently completed a remodeling project with Ali. kitchen + two bathrooms. The results look great. Any problems that we ran into during the process got resolved. Ali is very honest and transparent and just a genuinely nice person overall, we really enjoyed working with them. They were also very quick! They told us a timeline at the beginning and were spot on with the completion date. If to be honest as a homeowner I expected to have more obstacles and delay before we started, thank you so much for your hard work and high customer service, will definitely call you again soon.

We added two new bedrooms, a bathroom, completely rebuilt our kitchen and made several changes to other parts of the house. Ali's Construction did a good job and was very professional.

Pros
Ali is a creative person and offered solution that others didn't;
Design, structural and construction under one roof
Very economical compared to other contractors
Flexible - Works with homeowners to reduce cost. We stayed in the house while the remodel was being done
Ali is personally driven to get you good results.
Very professional.

Cons
Add a buffer when they quote you a timeline. Several times the delays are because of their third party contractors.
You sometimes get unlucky with their sub-contractors. But you can hold Ali's Construction accountable.
You will have to be on top of everything. Don't have the expectation of it being managed like a software project. It's very different.
Be sure to over communicate

Overall, we are very satisfied with the results. I would recommend them and would work with them again. We were able to get Ali's attention when we hit the bottom a couple of times and were able to resolve the issues successfully. Most issues were about time taken to complete a job and NOT the quality of the job itself.

We came across Ali‘s construction from one of the many boards that the company put up outside the houses that they build. We saw many boards across Cupertino area which made us to discover Ali. Like every individual looking to build the house, we quickly looked at Yelp reviews and Google reviews and were not sure to go with Ali after reading the reviews. But all the reviews were quite old and looking at the number of houses Ali was doing, we really didn’t think these reviews were accurate. We decided to meet Ali and get the quote. When we first met Ali, he was very professional, showed up on time and looked at the house we were interested in remodeling as well as extending . Ali was able to provide us with the quote and also took us the neighborhood houses that he built. He was able to introduce us to multiple house owners and asked us to take their opinions about their experience with Ali. He was honest and very humble . We really liked Ali’s first impression and did our due diligence by asking questions to real people and not just Yelp review. House building is not easy and many times there are ups and downs but ultimately we have yo look at the overall experience and quality. We truly feel Ali is amazing and his team is very professional. Here are some of the things we are happy with:

* We like the fact that he is always available to answer our question and concerns.
* The only things we didn’t enjoy was the electrical guys as they really gave us a hard time . But Ali and his team took care of it and we were able to move forward.
* We always talk to Ali and his team and avoid talking to contractors directly. I would recommend the same to anyone who is planning to build house. Leave the management part to Ali and his team.
* We were also very happy with Ali and his team’s many valuable suggestions, they were always looking at the floorplan and our material list and giving us realistic feedback if the idea would work or not. They provided so many good ideas for which we would always be thankful to his team.
* We also liked that he has a full team on board like architect, structural engineers etc. so we never had to go outside and look for help.
* Also, Ali provides “allowances” in his contract which no other contractor provides. So this is literally money that you will save on the total price. So do consider this before making a decision.
* As with every contractor, there are glitches here and there, but most of our issues were handled in some way shape or form.
* Overall we would highly recommend them.

We have used Ali’s Construction to remodel our San Jose home in 2024. The teams were very professional, courteous and knowledgeable of the tasks they were performing. The project completed on time and with good quality. The project had many complications and fancy designs that we demanded which were delivered well and the program managers were flexible to our needs. Please connect with me if you need more information.
