I hired Scrivens Construction to do an ADU on to my home from the ground up and they were nothing short of phenomenal to work with. Aside from the end results being amazing, quality, and lasting work the experience with Arran and Jennifer was spectacular. Great company by great people.

We used Scrivens Construction to add a 400 sq mother-in-law apartment to our home in St Petersburg. The process was as seamless as could be - Arran and his team were prompt, professional, and respectful. Arran was responsive and answered our questions and requests quickly and thoroughly. I’ve heard horror stories of working with contractors that are unresponsive, cut corners, and take much longer than necessary with projects - we had the exact opposite experience with Scrivens Construction and would recommend them without reservation to anyone needing quality, competent, and timely work to their home, no matter how big or small the project.

If you are looking for someone to not only remodel your home beautifully, but someone who has an eye for design, it is Arran. He completely renovated our home and went beyond creating the vision we had by complimenting our design with his creativity and ideas. He listened and was available to us throughout the entire process. He was always upfront about the cost and offered options to us to stay within our budget. His employees were respectful, clean , and friendly. Arran was prompt and easy to talk to. If you are looking for a contractor who delivers, you will definitely be happy you chose Arran. We highly recommend Scrivens Construction!

I have been a client of Scrivens Construction for almost a decade and they are the only contractor I will work with. After many attempts to find a responsive, reliable, communicative, and professional contractor, I finally found Scrivens, and have not looked back. They do great work, for fair prices, in a reasonable timeline, communicate with me throughout the projects, and provide transparency throughout the process. They are also knowledgeable when working in historic districts, working through proper permitting, and identifying risks/opportunities for each project. I am grateful for the work they have done for us on our historic bungalow, and we have plans to do a lot more with them.

The team showed up on time, kept the job site clean, and delivered high-quality craftsmanship that exceeded my expectations. Communication was top-notch—any questions or concerns I had were addressed right away. It’s clear they take pride in their work, and it shows in the final result. I highly recommend Scrivens Construction to anyone looking for a trustworthy construction company in the area. You won’t be disappointed!

Aran made some great suggestions on how to get around some issues. Communication on work done and work to be done was clear. All work was completed on time and some under budget.

We called them after Helene hit, before Milton arrived. We have a bottom unit in Isla Del Sol that was flooded, and had to be completely renovated.

After the condo association allowed us back in, after they handled the drywall, Arran and Jen stepped in and took us the rest of the way.

In a time when they as locals were dealing with the same catastrophic damage of their own home, they made everything simple. They were mindful of the questions they asked, and held our overwhelmed hands through the entire process.

They worked with our thin insurance payout budget & respected our working lives, all while remodeling our place into the most beautiful spot we could have hoped for.

Their team went above and beyond in how they did the work, the quality of the repairs, and clean up afterwards. We would get a call every week, at least, with an update, well managed questions that kept it from being overwhelming, and next steps for us.

Some people are meant to do certain things in life. This crew definitely found their calling; helping rebuild their community, to restore peace to such a beautiful area of our country.

You're making the best choice reaching out to them for any work you need done. Thank you Scrivens Construction! Pics to post soon!

Damage Control Construction did a great job on a difficult task. A large elevated window was replaced, and DCC took care of all the minute details, including dry wall and painting. The window looks great.

We presented Damage Control with a complicated situation with the County wherein they were asking us to do the most ridiculous thing. Despite being confused by what was needed, Kevin was able to expeditously review all the notes, and perfom needed the task in a more than timely manner! We just bought a brand new home and will be utilizing them for all of our needs!

    thank you!

I can’t recommend the folks at Damage Control enough. I sold my condo and needed some repairs completed on short notice and Kevin was able to come out and fix what I needed in a matter of days. He was kind, patient, and most importantly honest in his assessment and his work. I will be using them moving forward for all my construction needs!

These guys came through like heros after helene for me and my neighbor on TI! We live in first floor studio apartments and thought we were going to be homeless if we couldn't get back in quickly. First time ever im glad i didnt have much to lose...We have been very lucky 🙏🏽 there are still A LOT of properties all over that have not been cleaned out and treated, so if that's you call them!! Kevin is the best 👍🏽

Local guys with big hearts. Always did their best to keep their word. Communication was top notch. My mold remediation went as smooth as possible. Afterwards, the clearance test passed the first time so I felt safe moving back into my home.

Honest, Reliable, and Cost-Effective Remediation & Construction

If you ever experience flood damage—or even minor water intrusion—call Damage Control Construction (DCC) FIRST.

They also handle non-emergency construction and remodeling, but our experience with them has been in disaster remediation, particularly after Hurricanes Idalia and Helene.

Our remediation following Idalia was flawless, while Helene presented some challenges, leading to a just a tiny single-star deduction. Rather than breaking it down into a false binary of pros and cons, I’ll share why we still highly recommend them, along with a few things to keep in mind.

    Challenges to Be Aware Of:

    1. Emergency Work Happens Fast—Expect Imperfections

Remediation is time-sensitive, which means speed sometimes comes at the cost of precision. While DCC does excellent work, emergency drywall cuts and demo can leave some rough edges. Over time, as they gain more experience, their finishing touches will likely become even more refined. However, no matter how seasoned a company is, emergency demo will always leave some imperfections, so set realistic expectations.

    2. Contents Disposal Requires Personal Oversight
In the aftermath of Helene, some items were discarded that, in hindsight, probably shouldn’t have been. This is not a criticism of DCC alone—it's just a reality of disaster response. If you want a third party to handle your belongings, either oversee the process yourself or send someone you trust to supervise. It’s an emotionally and practically significant task, and having a familiar face with a lot of time to invest be involved can make all the difference.

    3. Temporary Labor Requires Extra Supervision

Finding good workers after a storm is difficult. While the team DCC assembled was willing to work, they lacked a personal connection to us, which led to some carelessness—particularly in contents disposal. Without direct oversight, they leaned toward mass disposal over careful sorting. The solution? If you're working with DCC after a disaster, ask for a supervisor to be on-site and stay in constant communication to ensure accountability.

Why We Would Still Choose DCC (for water intrusion) Every Time:

✔ They will never rip you off. DCC finds ways to save you money without cutting corners, but they are also honest about when there are no shortcuts. With mold remediation, they take no chances.

✔ They are honest about water classification. Some companies will inflate the severity of your water damage to maximize insurance payouts and profit margins. Servpro once falsely classified our water as black water—a decision that could have doubled our expenses. DCC, by contrast, was honest when we dealt with both gray water (Idalia) and true black water (Helene), treating each situation appropriately.

✔ They genuinely care about your health and safety. The main DCC staff treats you like a person, not just a client. They know you have to live in your space again, and they take that responsibility seriously.

✔ They are significantly more affordable than major remediation companies. We compared costs, and big-box remediation companies charge nearly double for a fraction of the care and attention to detail that DCC provides.

    Bottom Line:

Water intrusion is tricky and expensive, but if you want the best results for the best price, DCC is the company to call. Despite a few challenges, we would absolutely use them again and wholeheartedly recommend them to others.

The team at Damage Control, Kevin, Dane, and Sam, helped me restore my kitchen after a leaky pipe flooded our home and caused a mold infestation. Their knowledge, expertise, and patience helped me navigate this restoration process. Their work on this project exceeded my expectations. Throughout the reconstruction, they were consistently professional, answered all my questions, provided me with information and options to make good decisions about what was needed and how to save money, and counseled and prepared me with what would happen at each step. They genuinely care about their clients and I recommend working with them.
