Strongly recommend Steve Braden. He's a super knowledgeable arborist and made excellent recommendations on where and how to trim our trees for the best tree health and vitality. They completed the work in one day with all cleaned up. What we especially appreciate is his tree expertise, not just a "whack it off" operation. His answers to numerous questions were informative and helpful.

Hurricane Milton knocked our big oak down onto our pool cage and outdoor kitchen area; Steven came out to provide a quote and came the next day. He and his crew of B, Phil, and Dennis, took care in every cut they made to minimize the chance of further damage to our house, pool cage, and outdoor kitchen. They completed the removal without any issues or any further damage to our property. I would highly recommend the Hurricane Tree Specialists for any of your tree needs. I will absolutely use them again when needed in the future.

Steve came out after Milton to remove a massive oak that had fallen on our property. He was prompt, courteous, super knowledgeable, and the price was very reasonable. If only I had met him prior to this disaster, and had him prune the tree properly, I may have been able to avoid this loss. Don't hesitate to call him if you care about your trees.

After another arborist proclaimed our Live Oak in "poor health" and recommended removing it entirely, I was happy to find Steven at Hurricane Tree Specialists. First words out of his mouth were "there's nothing wrong with that tree." He really knows his stuff and recommended some "prescribed pruning" to clean up the tree and keep it healthy. When they came out yesterday Steven was the one actually doing the cutting and did exactly as he had said, and his team were all professional and cleaned everything up well. At the end of the day it was a fair price for good communication, professional service, and an overall great experience. Highly recommend!

Hurricane Tree Specialists did an outstanding job trimming our massive oaks and elm trees. Steven, the owner, is an experienced and knowledgeable arborist who only prunes what’s necessary, leaving the tree in a beautiful, healthy shape. Steven and his crew were punctual, super friendly and worked fast to complete the job, cleaning all debris afterwards, leaving our yard better than how they found it! We’ll hire them again. I was very pleased with the tree work Steven and his crew did at our home. He is very professional, knowledgeable and didn't mind answering my many questions. They arrived on time and kept us informed throughout the process. They cut three huge nuisance trees way back (two almost to the ground.) They were very cautious of the areas near my neighbor to ensure they did not damage any of their plants or leave debris behind. Steven and his employees did a great job cleaning up the work area. I will definitely use this company again and highly recommend them.

I had 2 Sycamore trees that were leaning caused by hurricanes Helene and Milton. After inspecting our trees, Mr. Braden was the only arborist who did not try to scare us into acting immediately. He took the time to educate us and explain all of our options before giving his recommendation. After learning that our trees would continue to grow substantially larger than they were, it would not have been feasible to prune or brace them for they would have to come down for getting too big for the yard.
However, we had a big concern about the removal process damaging our newly laid synthetic turf. Mr. Braden said he could not make any guarantees for the trees were large, but he would do his best to minimize the damage. His crew was able to bring them down with no damage.
Lastly, not only was he very professional, his firm was also the most economical. I highly recommend Mr. Braden's Hurricane Tree Specialist!

2025: Updating this review, 3 years later. We had Steven and the crew back to do another round of reduction pruning on our Live Oak. Once again they came on time a crew of four guys, some of whom were the same as from 3 years ago. They did a fantastic job and cleaned up after themselves, leaving the place clean and better than they found it (both our yard and the neighbor's yard that shares the tree canopy). From 2022: We chose Hurricane Tree Specialists with cautious optimism due to their large number of great reviews, and they exceeded our expectations! We had two large oaks done, extensive reduction pruning, but it was done so carefully by Steven, the owner and a certified arborist, that the trees look GREAT. He showed up with a bucket truck, chipper, and 4 other guys who kept the chipper, chain saws, leaf blowers, and rakes going to keep up with him as he pruned about 4 tons of downward drooping outermost limbs. Highly recommended!!!

We have been using Hurricane Tree Specialists for 12 years and have always been very satisfied with the work done. These professionals always follow through on everything, cleanup included. You get what you pay for when you hire a professional arborist! These guys really do go out on a limb for you!

Update - Steven and his crew trimmed our trees again August 1, 2020. I could not ask for better service. They will work with you on achieving what you want and what is best for the heatlh of your trees. This company has consistently given us excellent service over the years.

Steven and his crew did an outstanding job trimming my trees. Steven provided an expert assessment of what was needed, explained everything thoroughly, and gave me a fair and good quote for services. He called when promised, came when promised, did exactly what was promised. It is wonderful to have the arborist on the spot, diagnosing and recommending what needs to be done for the health of the trees, and coming to lead the crew doing the work himself, so I know (and can see) that it is done right. This is how I would describe Hurricane Tree Specialists in Tampa. I bought a two acre piece of vacant land to build my future house on. The property had not been well tended for maybe 10-15 years at least, and there are about 15 large oaks on the property and a whole lot of thickets and overgrowth. Steven met me out at the property on several occasions to give me knowledgeable consultation. I could tell immediately that he knows how to care for trees properly. Well, we are on a budget because of the house build, so we couldn't break the bank over this job. So, Steven gave me some options and showed me where we should prioritize. We had to take down two large oak trees, and do reduction pruning on many others. Also, there was about 1/4 acre of thicket to clear out to open the property up. After agreeing on a job and price, he and his crew of 6-7 guys came out to the property for the weekend and completed the job in one and half days! In addition to doing the work that he contracted to do, he also trimmed trees along a fence line, cut down a large old stump, and removed a dangerous safety hazard of a tree that had broken and was at risk of falling on someone. He goes above and beyond and is the best person you can hire for your tree trimming and tree removal needs!

My mom found Hurricane Tree Specialist asking Google for a local tree company😆 But we're so happy that's what we got since Steven and his crew were AMAZING. My mom was very apprehensive about just hiring anyone but when she heard the full advise from Steven she was more comfortable and confident on what needed to be done. Steven was very honest and didn't try oversell my mom in getting work done that wasn't needed. Him and his crew did an awesome job removing 1 completely dead pine, 1 actively dying pine, trimmed 2 healthy pines, laurel oak and ficus. If you're a true 🌳 person Steven is the guy to call. Their clean up work was superb!!

Steven and his amazing crew took the dead wood out of the massive grand oak on the property (again). The large tree requires periodic maintenance as large shoots die off. They then trimmed it so it would continue to grow up instead of out over the house and driveway.
They also trimmed or removed smaller trees encroaching on the house or the neighbor's yard. And thinned a young oak to grow more favorably.
As always, thorough and professional. They explained what they were going to do and why.
We have been working with this team since 2015.
We highly recommend them for any and all tree work.

A large tree in the front yard randomly broke off to huge branches. No wind, no rain just a gorgeous FL day. Called Steven on a Sunday and he responded the same day. After examining the tree, it appeared to be rotting from the inside and it was just a matter of time before the whole thing came down. The prudent thing to do was take the tree down. Steven and team removed the tree and cut the stump as low as possible. Grinding the stump risked hitting the waste water pipes that run passed that area. As always a thorough and professional job from this team. Hurricane Tree Specialist have been maintaining the massive Grand Oak in the back and the many trees on our property since 2015. I recommend them to anyone that will listen to me.

Steven and crew took down a tree that was resting against a corner of the front porch. It kept banging against the house in high winds.
They arrived in a timely manner. Gave a price my spouse and I agreed on. The tree came down quickly and cleanly.

I've been a customer for about 7 years. They are the only ones I trust to trim my Grand Oak. I highly recommend Hurricane Tree Specialist.

Steve came out and gave us a free estimate. We scheduled the service, and he and his crew showed up on time, did a fantastic job, trimmed the trees in conformance with our Homeowner's Association, and explained what was being done clearly. The job was done professionally, with a complete cleanup afterwards. He answered all our questions and we are completely satisfied with the job and the price. I forgot to take "before" pictures, but the yard looked much more jungle-like. I highly recommend this company.
