We had to trust that they would do the big job right without us around to verify. They went above and beyond what was asked. They cleared all brush as asked and chopped the trees to the requested maximum length. They took the extra step of cutting large diameter logs to shorter lengths to assist us with our part if the cleanup.

The price was very fair and I would recommend them for any job.

Thad and his team are fantastic: Honest, reliable, detail oriented, efficient, hard working, and affable. They give great advice when new issues arise, and execute technically difficult tree removal safely and efficiently. They don't just clear-cut. They are respectful about protecting human-created structures, trees you want to safeguard, and wildlife. After they removed one 150 year old ash, we found a huge nest of flying squirrels inside. Instead of proceeding with cutting it up right away, which would likely have resulted in killing and further distressing the squirrels, they left the tree overnight so the squirrels could relocate before they proceeding to cut up the tree. These men love the forest and everything about it! I recommend them without qualification!

Would like to commend Ed and Jeremy for a wonderful job they did taking down our tree today. They let us know exactly what would be done and everything was done and done well!! I would recommend them highly.

They are rip off artists, bad actors. They do about a third of the job and and then quit. They don't return phone calls or texts. I would highly recommend that you find a more ethical and reliable company to do your tree work.

They left me high and dry. Took sixty percent of the money, did thirty percent of the work and never came back to finish the job. I had to hire a different tree company to finish the job. Please do yourself a favor and choose someone else to do your tree work so you don't get screwed like I did

Awesome folks to work with. Free estimate, fair pricing, cleaned up mess and walked me through before and after the work. Cut logs into manageable sizes so I could split them myself for my wood stove. Took down numerous extremely dangerous dead and overhanging trees without problem. Did not show up on time either day but still completed the work within the 2 day window I was told about. So no qualms there. Highly recommend these guys.

I hired Ed and Jeremy to remove one tree and top another. They told me they would be cutting the partial tree at an angle and capping the top with a rubber membrane to prevent it from rotting out. I couldn't be there when they were completing the work, so my wife paid them in full. Afterwards, I realized that they had cut the tree top flat and left it raw/uncapped. I figured this was just an oversight, and they would come back to complete, however I have left 5 voicemail messages over the past 5 weeks, and have not received any reply. Hopefully this review will get some attention, but I am very disappointed in the level of service and responsiveness. I was going to hire a bigger company to do the work, but wanted to use a smaller local company instead, but am now regretting that decision.

Working with Pieter and his team was a dream. He responded quickly and came out for a consultation which included walking the property together and receiving recommendations not only for the team to take care of but also advice for actions that my husband and I could take to keep our property flourishing and healthy for years to come. I appreciate his approach and concern for the overall health and wellbeing of the trees and plants in our area as well as his clear depth of knowledge and love of his craft. Pieter followed up with many resources and connections to other community landscaping support. He also gave us a thorough itinerary of what would be included in our day of service along with our invoice.
The day he came to do the work with his team, Aaron and Keevon, everyone was so upbeat and excited to be on the job that it was contagious. During a brief chat one of the crew remarked that working with Highlander Tree was the best job he's ever had with the most considerate boss.
They helped us clear branches over our chimney, event space, and power lines, clear out invasive buckthorn, and piled the wood chips and stacked the usable logs for us at the end of the day. They made it out just before a big storm came through and even offered to come back to block the wood logs!

Pieter and his crew embody a rare quality for arborists; a genuine concern for the health and care of your trees and the ecosystems they are a part of. In this case, the job title Arborist is fully earned, which is more than can be said for anyone who picks up a chainsaw.

We had a large dead cherry tree lead leaning over our road and an enormous ash tree not in good health dropping large limbs into the swimming hole on our property. Too large and technical for me to handle. Alexander and Zach of Small Town Tree Service performed an outstanding job taking these down with no collateral damage to the neighbor’s stand of spruce. Chipped and cleaned up the small stuff and cut the large logs into sizes I can handle for firewood for a reasonable price. Excellent communications, prompt and professional. Truly impressed. Highly recommend for tree removal and pruning.

If I could give ten stars I would. Small Town Tree Service did an exceptional job in every way, and I have high standards. Alexander was responsive and communicative every step of the way. He is calm, thoughtful, focused, and highly skilled. He taught me so much about my trees! He and his lovely employee Zack just left and my property is literally smiling. I’m already making a list of what I’m hoping he will do next.
