34 one star reviews isn't enough for this company. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. The owner, Steven Crist is the most arrogant and rude man I have had the displeasure of doing business with.

October 28 I submitted a request for a sprinkler blowout

Nov 4 a technician comes out to blow out my sprinkles, but I received no communication of that prior. "No worries", I thought, "at least it's happening." I go the bathroom after he got there, come back out and he's gone. Job uncompleted. So I think something must have happened, I'm sure they will communicate with me. ZERO communication happens, so I assume they just aren't going to do it.

Nov 12 I hire another company to come do it since I have heard nothing. The new company comes out that day, all is done.

Nov 22 almost 3 weeks after the first guy came out, a second technician from Steven comes unannounced and blows out my sprinkler system, even though it's already been done by someone else.

In my confusion, I paid their invoice thinking it was the previous business. Once I realized, I reached out to Steven and explained the situation, and that I wasn't asking for a refund but would have appreciated better communication to as what was going on. He showed me proof that they had sent out texts from their automated system telling me the night before each technician came out. I never received them because apparently some providers flag their system as spam and don't deliver it. He told me "that's your carriers fault, not mine." Maybe if that's happening use a different system? Regardless, I was more frustrated with the lack of communication of telling me why the service wasn't performed and that they would be sending out another technician to finish the job, almost 3 weeks later.

After arguing with each other like children, Steven never owned up to anything and kept blaming his technicians saying "they should have communicated that" as if that was my responsibility, or "take it up wit your carrier, I sent confirmation." I kept trying to explain that's on him as a business owner, but he over and over again kept avoiding any responsibility while placing the blame on anything else he could. I was not even seeking a refund, yet he never apologized once and spoke in an extremely ARROGANT manner.

I ended up paying two companies for the same job. At the end of the day he is an extremely prideful, poor business owner, who can't even say "I'm sorry for the confusion/lack of communication."

I have included a screenshot of his last text to me below.

DO. NOT. DO. BUSINESS. WITH. HIM. Don't let him keep running a business treating customers like this.

I’ve used The Maintenance Shop for sprinkler blowouts two years in a row, and tried for a third.

Last season, my system’s backflow preventer broke. I later realized it was because the water hadn’t been properly shut off, even though the system was supposedly blown out. I fixed it myself and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Mistakes happen.

This year, I scheduled another blowout. Weeks later, when I reached out about scheduling, I was told they already visited and never finished because they couldn’t find the main and drain. Nobody said a word to me at the time, no call, no text.
If they’d reached out, I could’ve shown them exactly where everything was and avoided another risk of damage.

    Disappointing experience overall.

Communication and follow-through are just as important as the service itself.

I chose this company because of their great reviews, but my experience was disappointing. I scheduled a sprinkler blowout a month in advance. They rely on automated texts saying they’ll come the next day, but they never showed up on the scheduled date. Instead of a simple personal call or text confirming they were on their way—like every other company I’ve used—I just received another automated message two days later with a new date.

They also send a link to a daily route “blog,” which felt unnecessary and cheesy when all I needed was a straightforward sprinkler blowout.

Overall, the lack of communication and reliability means I won’t be using this company again.

Had this company test our backflow. We usually water our lawn in the early morning hours, so we didn’t notice right away that the water had been left completely off after their service. As a result, our lawn went several days without water (starting to die in one area)

When I reached out to let them know, they didn’t even offer an apology. Instead, I was told, “That’s easy enough for you to do.” No accountability, no professionalism... just a dismissive and lazy response.

This isn’t just about forgetting a step, it’s about the total lack of care or respect for the customer. Do yourself a favor and use a company that takes their work (and your property) seriously. AVOID THIS ONE.

**UPDATE** my review is NOT dishonest and yes you did offer to come back out and turn it on AFTER we went back and forth through messages and me telling you how unprofessional it was to tell me to "handle it". You also did not apologize until AFTER I stated "I'm sorry would go along way for customers". Your responses to unpleasant clients should be enough to have potential clients stay clear of your business. I will post screen shots to prove I am not dishonest.

I have been using The Maintenance Shop for the past 2 years to test and repair my backflow preventer. This year, I had them out to do some repairs to my sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is over 40 years old and very “DIY” by various previous owners. I ended up having the Maintenance Shop replace the valves and sprinkler box in the front yard, and a zone that hadn’t worked since I bought the house over three years ago suddenly works. Other sprinkler guys have been out to look at my system and just shrugged off the dead zone as a pinch in the line due to tree roots. Not only does that zone now work, but I don’t have to dig up my front bed to try to find a pinched line that doesn’t exist. I will be having them out again next spring to replace the remaining old valves and sprinkler box in the back yard.

For over a decade, I've relied on The Maintenance Shop for dependable work and recommended them highly. However, their recent project handling was deeply disappointing.

The task was simple: relocate two sprinkler heads and replace a sunken sprinkler valve box to eliminate a tripping hazard for elderly tenants. The team moved one sprinkler head but deemed the other impossible due to tree roots, likely because they lacked proper tools like a sawzall, which could have made it a quick fix.

The valve box replacement was even more frustrating. The new box protrudes several inches above ground, creating a worse tripping hazard. The internals were left untouched, with a Maintenance Shop certified tested tag placed on a still half-buried backflow. I would have though uncovering it would have made their coworkers lives easier next time. It's unclear why the box wasn't set deeper, trimmed, or swapped for a suitable alternative.

When I contacted the owner to discuss completing the project, I received no response--only invoice emails. This is a sharp departure from their past quality work, leaving me hesitant to recommend them again.

Quoted 7 hours at $55/hr for valve replacement and sprinkler adjustments
After three weeks, got the bill for 26 hours of work at $65/hr. Didn’t complete the first time so kept going back for an hour or two here and there. Zero professionalism, zero oversight, zero communication, overall just bad at everything. Used an exterior extension cord to power timer, not what I asked for. Left old wires and solenoids in the lawn, pvc and old timer box left on the patio. Been using them for 6 years, will never use them again.
$800 quote ended up at $2,200 w/$1,700 in labor charges. Could have run a whole new system for that. Had to dispute to get the $55/hr rate that I signed and approved. Stay away and hire anyone else

    Beware of SCAM.
Scheduled a sprinkler blow out and received an email stating I have been added to schedule. No date was provided when I am scheduled for service. After a week of not receiving any communication, I tried calling the number on their website several times to confirm the date. No one was answering the phone or returning the calls.
2 weeks after submitting blowout request, I had a guy show up to blow out sprinklers. I told him, I reached out several times to confirm the date and no one ever answered or returned the call. I told him I no longer need his service since I had sprinklers taken care of. He said ok and left.
Now I received a call from COLLECTIONS agency for not paying a "non-cancelation" invoice!
    Unbelievable.
I was never provided the date, no word from them for 2 weeks, no service provided and then get sent to collections.
Very creative way to scam you or they'll ruin your credit history.

I had a old and defective sprinkler manifold and Steve responded quickly and had Jesse and Kelly over to dig out and replace the defective unit. They were hard working, very knowledgeable, and kind to my family. Steve followed up with me after to ensure I was happy with the work done. They are well priced, great people that have integrity and great work ethic. If you need any work done contact them first, I know I will!

Thanks for losing my paperwork and not reporting to city of meridian. Just had my water shut off because of a non report from you.

They billed for a service they never performed and sent the bill 8 months after they said service was performed. Very unprofessional when called to find out what the bill was for.

Used Pacific Backflow for almost 30 years. Stopped returning phone calls. I take that very personally after this amount of time.

They are over priced. I used them for years but I won't use them again. Many more on the list with better prices and are more professional.

They have checked our back flow for 15 years. We have lived here. They come when they say they're going to you and do a good job.

Had our yearly required back flow test done. Paid cash. and then they charged my card. They will not return call, nor email.

I have used Pacific Backflow for many years. I find them to be fair and honest in there work and price.
Pacific backflow is very easy to call and talk with on the phone and schedule there test with.
I would recommend them too any person I know to test there backflow, they turn their paper work in the city very fast.

They pulled out all of the stops to get somebody to do my testing as quickly as possible. The technician was professional and efficient. The price was reasonable, the response was timely, and the service was great!

If zero stars were an option, that’s what we would be going with here. There was a “glitch” in the system and our backflow report (completed 6/6/19) was never sent to the city of Meridian and we were told that you no longer had the report. Our water got shut off and there was no apology or attempt to reconcile the issue. Ended up having to go with a competitor to get the job done right.
