Impressively well stocked garden center with a friendly mom-n-pop feel

Lori was right. Don't waste your time here, this is how little customer service means to them. They cannot even respond with the person's correct name. Who's Tiffany??? (see photo)

Effingers is a great place to shop and feel at home! Clean, organized and helpful! I wish I could give them more than five stars!

Nice helpful people. They had what I wanted for my vegetable garden. Will go back when the weather warms up and get the rest of my plants

Great service! Very helpful and informative on selecting a flowering tree and how to care for it. Sargeant Crabapple is a stunner! Thank you Mr. Effinger!

Had an absolutely mind-blowing selection. If you were looking for something or just browsing, all the staff was super knowledgeable and willing to help. Worth the drive, worth the price...great local business to support.

Honestly, I don’t know how many stars to give this place. Thursday, my fiancée and I visited this nursery. Upon walking up we were instantly greeted and asked for assistance. We were there for about 10 minutes, we were advised to come back tomorrow, the soil we needed would be available.
We didn’t come back the very next day, we came today which is Saturday.
We walked up, a lady who seem to be an “employee” was talking to a couple. The couple left, so it’s myself, my fiancée and another customer who was off picking flowers. As we were looking for the “workers” (later, after our 2nd visit, we assumed them to be the “owners”) who helped us on Thursday. (because they were extremely helpful and courteous)
We see, who we assume is a “employee” She looks in the opposite of our direction, walks to a section where I suppose flowers were in desperate need of watering, started watering the flowers without acknowledging us whatsoever. After walking further into the nursery, still looking for the “workers” from the previous visit, still no acknowledgement from the “worker” who was only 15ft away. My fiancé says, “do you want me to see if she can help us?” I then say to the “worker” “do you work here?” “Are you assisting anyone?”
She replies, “Yes, I work here, do you need help?”
I asked, “ do you greet customers?” Her answer lead me right out the door. She replies, “ Yes I was assisting some people earlier. My reply, “thanks but no thanks we’ll go somewhere else.
I would like to tell you, if you read this “Ms. Worker”
whatever personal issues you have within yourself, put them aside and make yo money. Money is green if you didn’t know....now ya know!
I hope the “workers” (assuming they are the owners) I was initially looking for, retrain her. Maybe she will buy what we intended, to make up for your loss. -
Friendly and knowledgeable staff! Great selection of houseplants! Fun place to go spend an hour or two wondering the many plants and garden decor.

Effinger's and I go WAY back -- as in, I used to come here back in high school with one of my teachers, helping her choose plants for her (mind-blowing) garden that she'd plant annually.
Now, of course, I'm old and working on my own garden, and Effinger's is my go-to for native plants. They've got an incomparable selection of native perennials, trees, shrubs, and ground cover, hummingbird/butterfly flowers, and annuals as well as fruits and vegetables. They have a separate section for water plants and indoor plants.
Everything is super well organized and easy to navigate, and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. If they don't know the answer to something, you'll usually happen upon a customer who does. The plants are all healthy and top-quality, and I've rarely had a loss (that wasn't my fault, anyway).
I've a brown thumb, but Effinger's has made it easy for me to establish and nurture a garden over which even my old teacher would nod and beam. It's a work in progress, but then again, aren't all gardens?
From all varieties of clematis and roses to shade-loving hostas and lush succulents, Effinger's legitimately has it all. Worth checking it out! -
Effinger’s is my favorite local nursery! They are all very knowledgeable and more than willing to take time to answer questions. Thank you for being so friendly and helpful. This is our go to spot for all things garden!

Called in and asked if they had American Holly trees in stock (Ilex Opaca). The man that answered said he had about 50. Excitedly, I drove 1 hour to go pick up 10 of them. When I get there he tells me that they’re not American Hollies, but Oakland Hollies that are small hybrids and not what I asked for. He knew the whole time and lied to me over the phone. It was ridiculous and wasted me 2 hours time and gas. I will never go back there, really shady customer service. Be warned that they might lie to you.

Love this place and I always leave with more plants than I had planned. Excellent source for heritage or uncommon peppers and tomatoes, wonderful selection of plants for butterflies and hummingbirds. I've been sending people here for unusual plants since I found and bought Corbaci pepper plants last year!

So. Many. Flowers.
Walked in for the first time, not knowing what I wanted. Sylvia must have seen the puzzled look on my face and jumped right in to help me. Sylvia was so helpful and kind. She helped me choose the correct variety of lavender and a few small flowering shrubs for the amount of sun in my yard. I left feeling confident and pleased with purchase. Thank you Sylvia for helping me shop and for the good conversation. -
The staff is fabulous and their plants top quality. They had everything I could ever want and plenty of advice when I asked questions. It's great to support a local family business, too!

Expert staff and amazing variety. We had staff members on 3 different occasions stop us to offer suggestions and ask if we needed anything. They have many greenhouses and each are labelled so it's easy to find whatever you need.

I am never coming back here!! Wednesday July 12 I came at 3:30pm half an hour before they closed. A middle aged women wearing blue sunglasses and a light green shirt was extremely rude to me. She first started accusing me of being a recent caller and said it was most likely me because me and the caller had the same plants in mind. I then told her that I wanted something that was easy to take care of and that would come back every year, she started to laugh rudely in my face while saying “ if you want plants yOu hAVe tO WaTEr tHem evEry day” I never once mentioned anything about watering. She then sarcastically says “ oh of course YOU definitely know more than us”, at this point I am saying to myself what is wrong with this lady?!? As we were walking down to the hosta section I let her know that I didn’t know a lot about hostas, she AGAIN says “I know you don’t, you don’t want the responsibility of a plant” I pick the plant I want and go to checkout she goes off again about how she is tired and that she is so frustrated. As I am done with checkout she tells me to have a good day I don’t reply because she was very rude, SHE THEN HAS THE AUDACITY TO SAY WOW AND GIVE ME A STARE!!!!

I was excited to check out this new garden center and was quickly disappointed. I went in on a Monday morning and was 1 of 2 customers there. I had 3 or 4 employees walk right past me, one of which almost ran me over while rearranging plants. She then acknowledged my presence by saying hello, but offered no apology and continued to work. I couldn't believe the lack of customer service especially after just leaving Dintelmann's where I had numerous employees approach me. If you value your time go to Dintelmann's and let them show you how you -the customer should be treated!

Effingers has so many beautiful plants! Every spring I head over to find all the "hard to find" plants for my yard, and they always have what I need. The staff members are helpful and very pleasant!! There are so many greenhouses to walk through you won't want to leave!

Effinger consistently delivers excellent customer service. They also have plenty of varieties of whatever plant, tree, shrub, etc you are looking for. They carry local greenery choices. That's often not thought of when looking for trees or shrubs. However, you'll know those will work in your yard since they are native to the area. They also have other types not native. You can purchase every type of soil amendments here. There is a large assortment of water plants for your pond. Go check them out before buying at the chain stores. You will not be disappointed.
