Constraction reviews in Chicago, Illinois

We worked with Stephanie and Kamil to achieve the kitchen of our dreams (and turn the former kitchen of our 130+ year old home into a large dining room) and we could not be more satisfied with the results! I'm not sure where these dissatisfied reviews are coming from but I can say they absolutely delivered the highest quality results we requested at a great value (and relatively on-time). Not only were Stephanie (the project manager) and Kamil (the on-site daily crew leader) a true delight to work with, but their crew members were also very pleasant, skilled, knowledgeable and capable. We have worked with 4 or 5 other contractors on miscellaneous projects since we bought this house 5 years ago, and 123 is the only contractor we've worked with who we would hire again for future projects - they delivered high-quality results at a reasonable value.

Our work was directly with Kelsey and "The Miguels", the father and son team doing most of the work.
We found it easy and quick to arrive at a design we agreed to and were able to refine the work along the way without any hidden "gotcha" fees. Kelsey did a good job of staying on top of the work and regularly communicating with us.
The Miguels were thoughtful, thorough, and most importantly, particular about the work aesthetic and quality that was delivered. My building staff remarked as to how polite they were, how well they cleaned up after themselves, as well and friendly. I believe they have been approached by staff to do work for them as well.
Of course there were hiccups along the way. But Kelsey and Miguel were very good about addressing them head on.
We would definitely hire them again.

I highly recommend 123 Remodeling for kitchen and bathroom renovations. Their designer Kelsey came up with creative solutions for both spaces incorporating our input and requirements. She was very attentive to details throughout the whole process. The workmen were skilled and respectful and followed the project plan flawlessly. We love the outcome and appreciate the support from 123's staff during the process.

123 Remodeling renovated my master bathroom. The home was built in the 1960's and there were a lot of challenges with uneven walls and floors, pipes being too close to the surface of the floor, etc. They helped come up with creative solutions to address these challenge without spending additional money. One tip I'd give anyone working with this team is that during re-model a lot of questions come up. A homeowner needs to be available to answer them so the decision that are made are agreed on by everyone. Working with them in this way, 123 did a very nice job and I've been pleased with my new bathroom.

Angie was an amazing designer! She helped us through every step of the way during our kitchen remodel. She was always open to our ideas and provided honest feedback. Our kitchen turned out better than we could have ever expected!

I recently hired 123 Remodeling for a kitchen renovation, and the experience exceeded my expectations in every way. From the initial consultation to the final touches, their team demonstrated great professionalism and craftsmanship. They listened carefully to my ideas and provided valuable insights that enhanced the overall design. The project was completed on time and within budget. I would use 123 Remodeling again for other projects around my home.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Bathroom Remodel by 123 Remodeling & Kelly Shanks

I couldn’t be happier with my experience working with 123 Remodeling and Kelly Shanks as my Designer and Project Manager. From start to finish, Kelly was professional, creative, and incredibly attentive. She took my vision for a dream bathroom and not only brought it to life but elevated it with thoughtful recommendations.

This was a complex project due to the age of the building, but the execution was flawless. Any delays were solely due to product lead times—not 123 Remodeling. Kelly kept everything on track with excellent communication and fast response times (often within 10 minutes!), which made a huge difference in reducing stress.

The workmanship was outstanding, with exceptional attention to detail. Unexpected challenges, like a hidden concrete slab under the old tub and the need for a rear-injection toilet, were handled swiftly and professionally. The final result? A master bathroom beyond my expectations.

If you're looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and highly responsive professional, I highly recommend Kelly Shanks and 123 Remodeling. They turned a stressful process into an enjoyable one, and I now have the bathroom of my dreams!

We worked with Stephanie and Leo at 123 Remodeling for our gut-rehab of our master bathroom, and they were great to work with. Stephanie made the design process super easy for us. Choosing design options can be pretty overwhelming with the 1000s of choices out there and it was great that Stephanie gave us a range of options and easily come up with more options for us based on our feedback. I feel like no one says they have a good experience with remodelling their space, but 123 Remodel made it simple and stress free. We trusted them to work on our project the days we were out of town and they were on target with their initial time estimate.

There is always something that doesn’t go to plan when remodelling, when that happened with us Leo’s team came by right away and fixed the issue.

We decided to go with 123 Remodelling as they are a full service operation. They do all the ordering for you, liaise with all the vendors and contractors, sort out any needed returns/exchanges - and honestly this was so great.

We would recommend and are very happy with our new bathroom!

The 123 Remodeling team did a fantastic job remodeling two bathrooms in my home. Angie provided design and project management expertise and turned my rough plans into reality, from finalizing the layouts to selecting tile, lighting, paint colors -- everything. She has a great eye and sense for how things will fit together. And no detail was too small -- she cared as much about things like grout color as she did about the big items, like tile. She also helped keep the project rolling on schedule, and was super responsive to all my many texts and emails. Leo and his team did the construction work and were exceptional. They are highly experienced and were able and (importantly) willing to give advice when our plans weren't optimal for the space. The tile -- even the herringbone pattern -- was done impeccably. Leo was also incredibly patient when I changed my mind a few times, and the project was still completed within the timeframe they initially gave me! I really couldn't be happier. I received a bid from another contractor for this project that was a little less expensive, but I'm so, so glad I chose 123. They were worth every penny.

We worked with Austin and had a great experience with our bathroom remodel and interior door replacement project and 123 Remodeling. He played a key role in guiding our selections, picking up on our vibe and making very helpful recommendations. Austin tailored his process to be flexible with our sometimes erratic travel schedules. He kept the project moving forward, orchestrating many moving parts.

We have been living with our new bathroom for several weeks, and continue being very happy with our investment. High quality work, crew was also great to work with. This bathroom is a tight space, we live in a large, old loft building, and they executed the work smoothly.

I included before and after photos. Nobody can remember what the old bathroom looked like, the new one is such a huge improvement. We love our gorgeous new bathroom!

Cannot recommend 123 Remodeling enough. I wanted to redo my bathroom and had some ideas but needed an expert to help bring it to life. Austin and Raul were a delight to work with! They completely demoed the old bathroom, reconfigured the plumbing and transformed the space. Austin walked through all the details with me and Raul and the crew were efficient and super professional. We will definitely be using them for our future projects.

I found 123 Remodeling through a Google search and I feel lucky that I did. I was impressed by the quality of the work shown in their portfolio and they delivered. Kelly is communicative, responsive, creative and a pleasure to work with. Kamil and his team are skilled and do top quality work. And now I have a beautifully remodeled bathroom.

After talking with several design build firms and independent designers/contractors about our master bath remodel, I randomly found 123 Remodeling through a Google search. I was impressed with the photos on their website as well as the positive reviews. I selected Angie to come out and provide a proposal. We were strongly considering another vendor but really connected with Angie and made the decision to go with them. We are SO glad we did. It was one of if not THE best customer service experiences we’ve ever had.
First of all, Angie is a rock star! I had a lot of anxiety and was frankly overwhelmed over the scope of the process but she reassured me that she was going to make it fun and boy did she deliver. From start to finish, she followed through on every single detail. She came up with a beautiful design and provided a spreadsheet for me to track all our expenses. I was amazed at how she really cared about our budget and always provided lower cost options for our purchases. She’s talented, professional, detail oriented and just the most delightful person to be around.
Stanley and his team executed the work. I could not have been happier! He was reliable, polite, and best of all, his work was impeccable. And I am PICKY! He took no shortcuts, communicated regularly, and made sure that the house stayed clean and organized while he worked. He was patient with my questions and requests and always polite. All of my concerns, large or small, were addressed promptly and to my satisfaction.
The results are stunning. I will be recommending 123 Remodeling to everyone I know. What a pleasure it was to receive such excellent service in a time when mediocrity is the standard.

We worked with Angie Joy @123 Remodeling, to remodel 2 bathrooms and a primary bedroom in our downtown Chicago condo. She was fantastic.. efficient, creative, knowledgeable and incredibly flexible. We could not be happier. We have remodeled several homes and she was, by far, the best designer we have ever experienced! And the contractor (Stanley) was of the highest quality.. cabinetry work, tiling, plumbing, etc. And above all, Angie and Stanley always were honest. We highly recommend them!

I recently completed a full gut renovation of the bathroom and a kitchen refresh in my 1-bedroom, 1-bath condo in Chicago, and I cannot say enough good things about my experience working with Angie Joy (designer) and Stanley (contractor).

The bathroom project included removing the bathtub and replacing it with a walk-in shower, new flooring, cabinetry, lighting, paint — essentially a complete transformation. In addition, they completed a kitchen refresh that included painting, removing and replacing countertops, installing a new kitchen faucet, and updating the hardware. Both spaces turned out beautifully and feel completely upgraded.

Not only was the quality of work excellent, but the project was finished ahead of schedule, which is almost unheard of in renovations.

What truly set Angie and Stanley apart was communication and trust. I was not physically at the condo during the remodel, yet I always felt completely informed and confident in the progress. Their communication was clear, proactive, and consistent from start to finish.

I also live in a building with a very strict HOA and tight security requirements, and they handled every rule, procedure, and restriction professionally and without issue. This alone was a huge relief and made the entire process stress-free.

Angie’s design guidance, Stanley’s craftsmanship, and their shared professionalism and attention to detail made this an outstanding experience. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone — especially condo owners who need a team that understands logistics, building rules, and how to deliver high-quality work without hand-holding.

If you’re looking for a designer and contractor you can truly trust, Angie Joy and Stanley are exceptional.

They did an excellent job from start to finish. He responded quickly, showed up right on time, and got to work immediately. What really stood out was his attention to detail, he took the time to make sure everything was done properly and didn’t cut any corners. You can tell he takes pride in his work.

Throughout the process, he checked in to make sure I was happy with how everything was turning out, which I really appreciated. The quality of his work was top-notch, and he kept everything clean and organized while he worked. On top of that, his pricing was very fair for the level of service he provided.

Overall, a great experience. I would definitely recommend Sebastian to anyone looking for someone reliable, skilled, and professional. Thanks again
