Great store. Nice people. Ask for Kristy, Luanne, or Matt. Fred has been there for a long time. Great local business. They have access to Nova Floor, Raskin, Johnson Hardwood, and a bunch of other products.

I loved working with Fred! Great showroom selection, they took the time to explain the differences between each product, so we were able to confidently make the right decision!

I had many questions about new flooring. The clerk I spoke to was very knowledgeable & answered my questions. An expert installer will call me & will come to my home to measure & give final quote. This is really good service! Very personalized.

Scharm was wonderfully knowledgeable and also had a great selection. They were patient and really took their time during our consultation. I highly recommend them as a local carpet company.

We had Scharm look at a shower flooring issue we had. Many other companies looked at the issue and wanted to tear out my entire "like new" shower. Scharm studied the issue and said they had a solution which required no tearing up of the shower and they fixed the issue. I am a perfectionist and found that Scharm exceeded my expectations for the work they did at our home.
I would highly recommend Scharm for any work to be completed and have found, where many companies today have inexperienced workers who take shortcuts, Scharm does a thorough job the first time and they do not have to return to fix an issue they left or created.
If you are looking to have a project completed and want a someone to do an exceptional job, I would strongly recommmend Scharm.

What a Wonderful experience. When i walked in the showroom to my hardwood floor being installed. I never realized how many versions of carpet there is and the poor quality that Menards and Home depot sold compared to the quality that they give you. All of the people made this a great experience. I never felt like I was being up sold. I will definitely use them again :)

I came in there looking for a special transition for a job I was working on. The woman that was working there was extremely nice and very helpful.
She helped me to come up with a solution for what I needed.

Fred's team installed a runner on my staircases and other carpeting accents for my hardwood floors. They did a great job and the small touches like binding on the carpet look great. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a small business experience versus a big box store.

We moved to our home two years ago and are slowly working our way through our improvements list.
Scharm continues to be a valued partner. Last year when we needed to replace the worn out stair runner (two levels including two landings) and the transformation was amazing. They are very professional and easy to talk with about ideas and concerns with regard to materials, budget and an efficient timeline for completion. This year we wanted to address our tile flooring that had 20 years of ground in grime in the grout as well as several cracked tiles. Matt and his crew made all of the repairs, deep cleaned the tile and grout and worked with us to select and complete the perfect color seal for the grout lines. The transformation is incredible! I wish I did this two years ago. It looks like a brand new floor! Additionally, the floor will now be easier to maintain. I look forward to working with Scharm on our next project.

We had carpeting in two bedrooms done just last week and it was a great experience! Quality product, very respectful and helpful installers, and good communication about timing and follow up to make sure we were satisfied with the install and product. The installers moved the furniture out (we got the little things) and moved it back, making sure it was in the place we wanted before they left - such a small thing that really means a lot! Highly recommend!

I have bought carpeting and flooring from this company. They are easy to work with and have decorating ideas that are so helpful in making choices. Their installers are amazing. Quality all they way. This is the only store I would buy my flooring from! Highly recommend.

I went to Scharm for a stair runner after seeing how great of an experience my mom had with Scharm. Luanne was very patient with me and helpful as I selected some samples (they have a fantastic selection to pick from). It was nice that I was able to bring samples home to see how they looked with my stairs. Fred came out to measure within a couple of days and two installers came to install the runner within a couple weeks. It was a fast and easy process. The installers did an amazing job and were very professional. I love the new runner and would highly recommend Scharm.

Very helpful in the store. Showed different options and styles. installation was done in one day and the installer was a great person. the kitchen floor looks beautiful. I get many compliments . I had my living room and dining room done by Scharm and it also was a great experience. They are helpful and know their products. I would recommend them 100%

We had a wonderful experience with both sales and delivery/installation. We needed an old-school flooring business like this to help us with carpet selection all the way to installation. They explained the different types of carpet materials that would work best for the room we needed it for. Speaking of which, no room is too small for their business. We only needed carpet for a small 7x10 room, and they said no problem! They even provide the installers. No need to look for a separate company. We are so pleased and will definitely use Scharm's services again.

I am a lifelong Des Plaines resident. I Always heard about Scam flooring. I was in talks with Matt about a repair ( who disappeared ) and ended up with Jake. Weeks later, Jake came and looked at the area to estimate a repair. I never heard from him. After weeks of leaving messages, I called the store directly and spoke to Mr. Scharm himself. Explained that I emailed Matt and then Jake. Gave photos despite them being here to take photos. Mr. Scharm came to my home and never gave me a quote on my repair. Months went by, and I just popped in the store. A blonde woman took my info and said I would be contacted.. ( guess how talkative ended ) I then called (MONTHS LATER ) to follow up and was rushed off the phone! The woman who answers said they didn’t do the repair I was asking for. Just as a reference. I clearly explained the wood flooring that needed repair and was told clearly that it was in their wheelhouse. She basically told me that she couldn’t help me. My 6 inch repair is now almost 12 feet of floor separation. What a waste. I will never work with this scam of a company. They just waste your time and I don’t trust the work that would come from them. Go to a big box store and get treated like a human being. Mr. Scharm, you should be ashamed of the business culture you have created. I understand why everyone leaves your employ.

We purchased carpet for our stairs the "old fashioned" way, from a 2nd generation family owned business that believes in providing a great experience from the showroom floor through installation. Schram met a "tight" timeline to have our stairs carpeted before the Christmas holiday. The showroom experience was cordial and informative. We picked out some samples and took them home to see how they looked in our home. Kristy and Kelly then guided us through the rest of the process and kept use very well informed about timing. Fred, the owner, came to our home to "measure" the job. A week later two cordial fellows came and installed the carpet. We had an outstanding experience, I hope you do, too. Gary C

Showroom staff very friendly and helpful. I'm retired and have had a home for 40 years and never bought carpeting before. They were tremendous with everything they did. Installation was quick, clean and professional. I highly recommend Scharm Floor Covering.

Excellent quality work and customer service across the board! The first step in rehabbing our new home was working with Fred and Kristy to obtain measurements and discuss options for hardwood flooring and carpet, and their communication was prompt and thorough. Pricing was fair and transparent which gave us confidence throughout the process. Thanks to Sile's team for their fantastic work refinishing and staining hardwood floors, and thanks to Ray and his son for flawlessly installing new carpet.

Great Experience! I had a really hard time finding a carpet type and color I liked, but had a specific style in mind. Scharm helped me with the process, answered all my questions, and even did a bit of research to get me the carpet I found on-line.

Totally professional, courteous, and cooperative service, from shopping for our flooring choice, to measurement, to removal of old flooring and installation of new. Flooring is a massive, painstaking and dust/dirt laden job, but the Scharm team were everything we expected and more. Kristy, Fred, and the install team (Herb/Tony) all get high marks. In total, a great value on a home renovation the wife and I were not looking forward to. Bravo! August 2025
