We had a paver patio installed 2.5 years ago by SM Lawn & Landscape and have had major settling problems ever since the installation. They came out multiple times to reset the pavers, but never fixed the root problem of the settling. I believe the root cause to be an unleveled surface causing insufficient water shed and/or not installing a drain tile that was needed to take water away from the retaining wall. If you are in the market to have a paver patio installed, find someone else...

Sean returned my initial call promptly, bid the job efficiently, and worked with me to meet my exact designs. He gave me a schedule and stuck to it. I enjoyed watching Sean and Tyler operate the small bobcat working in a pretty tight space. They saved the plants I wanted to keep and hauled off the ones that needed to go. The retaining wall may be small but it is straight, sturdy and well planned.

SM & Landscaping did our front and side yard in Troy, Il. We were very pleased. He listened to what I wanted and was easy to work with. He did grading and added fescue sod, black granite rock, and solid brass lights and of course shrubs and 2 trees. I would highly recommend his company.

We were absolutely thrilled with Sean and his team! They redid our entire landscaping front, sides and back in Edwardsville and it is SO beautiful! We have a new retaining wall that we are getting so many compliments on and our landscaping is everything we envisioned and more! A few years ago, I reached out to Sean to add additional patio space and add landscaping to my back yard. He and his crew were the best from start to finish. He added pavers to increase the patio size...created a perfect landscape design along the back of the house. Sean and his crew were respectful of the property and were a delight to work with. Later had them come back to my Edwardsville home to update the front and sides of my home. Sean is almost done with what I think was a quick and easy project request, a couple of earth-moving jobs in my backyard.

I think my request was a little more challenging because my request was all about the extras of getting it done soon and quickly and actually, for a competitive price. WOW, not sure what it is but from the get-go, talking with Sean was right on target.
He heard my needs and responded to them. Basically, very responsive to my time constraints. Responsive to my questions about how to approach the project and what the best actions to take would be for my end goals. Responsive to working with other contractors and their completing their projects on site, during and after his work there.

Communicative and feel like the whole job was on-target and completed with high-quality and efficiency.

Sean and his crew reworked the landscaping on the west side of our home by repairing a drainage issue and extending a retaining wall as well as replacing some aging plants and trees. They were very professional and easy to work with. Sean was responsive to our requests to adjust the scope of the project as work was underway. We would highly recommend Sean and his crew.

We recently had Sean and crew put in a retaining wall. They did great work and went the extra mile. They ensured our drainage pipes were rerouted properly and that the wall was prepped properly for a fence to be installed on top of it. The retaining wall was part of a pool installation project, and Sean worked well with the pool company to coordinate all the specifics. We’ve used SM for years for landscaping, large tree planting, yard regrading/seeding, and much more, and they’ve never disappointed!

Sean and his crew accomplished an amazing transformation of our backyard. Before even beginning the job, Sean spent a great deal of time discussing our vision for the landscaping and using his expertise to help guide us along the best path to make it a reality. We live in the city, so our narrow and compact yard was no easy canvas with which to work. However, the finished product was even more striking than we had imagined. Sean was communicative throughout the entire process, and we cannot say enough how impressed we were with his attention to detail, professionalism, and eye for the aesthetic. We love our new oasis!

Slemmer installed a terrace and stepped walkway for us. Excellent team to work with. They listened to what we wanted and worked with us to meet our needs. The crew were all friendly, respectful and receptive to our questions. I would definitely use them again.
