I got four different estimates for a small 3.15 KW Solar system. Tyler gave me the most reasonable estimate. He worked with me on the design and integrated my wishes. The installation was completed in the timeline he proposed. He took care of the village permit, Comed net metering application and helped me with the SREC rebate program. The result was an out-of-pocket cost of 40% of the estimated price = (full price upfront payment) minus (30% Federal Tax credit which declines to 26% in 2020 and ~ 30% SREC rebate) The breakeven point of the investment is only 4 years. Now is the best time to install Solar and I would recommend Tyler and his team to anybody who is interested in it.

Tyler at Refiency was fantastic to work with. We leveraged his expertise while building our new home in Lisle. He was able to work seamlessly with our general contractor and architect. He helped design a 7.3kW array with some of the best equipment on the market.

Refiency coordinated all permitting requirements with the village and is handling all paperwork with ComEd as well as the Illinois SREC program. He has made the process so simple and straightforward.

Decent price, but you get what you pay for. Customer service is lacking. No communication for weeks on project status. Unreasonable install delays. Timeframe from contract signing to install and power up took well over six months. Well, even design back and forth during the quotation phase were unreasonably long. Post install, no communication on incentives. Install itself is less then appealing with conduits all over the roof. Permits were pulled only after the physical install was complete. Again, you get what you pay for.

Tyler gave a clear and concise bid to start the rehab then communicated any changes and updates to the budget. Their subcontractors have done great work and been fairly priced. Reficiency has now done multiple projects for us and each has been completed on time and on target with the budget.

Tyler, president of Reficiency Solar, was terrific from start to finish. He helped us with the technical details of a solar system and pricing of the various options. The installation went smoothly resulting in a system that has a clean, attractive look. We also found Tyler and his crew to be very friendly and conscientious. I highly recommend Reficiency Solar.

Highly Recommended
In mid-August we contracted with Reficiency Solar (Tyler and his team) to install a +6kw solar system for our home. If you are like me you’ll do plenty of research prior to signing a contract to learn what’s possible both within your expectations and budget. From our initial meeting to commissioning the finished product with the power company Reficiency Solar exceeded our expectations and delivered well within our budget!
Here are some of the ways they did that…

Managing the Process - Every detail was handled efficiently and professionally from obtaining city permits and inspections, getting materials shipped and installed to finally getting the system linked and authorized by ComEd. If there were bumps in the road we didn’t feel them. The original inverter was damaged in shipping but Tyler worked magic to get a new unit shipped within two days despite the current supply chains issues.
Quality of Materials - While other contractors bids included materials with lower ratings at higher prices Reficiency came in with top rated REC panels and an SMA Inverter. That original inverter that was damaged Tyler upgraded to a better unit, at no additional cost, to keep the project on track and now provides the opportunity to expand in the future.
Quality of Workmanship - With many house projects there is what you can see and what you can’t. When our city inspector came out to check both the seen and unseen (what’s inside the meter box and inverter) he specifically called out the excellent work in those unseen elements. I take it as great sign when the inspector is offering compliments.
Look of the Project - You feel good when the people working on your home treat it like their own. That was the case with Reficiency. They worked with the specific intent that the finished product looked good; from how the panels were symmetrically placed to the color of the conduit matching the siding. Even taking the time to ensure everything was clean and tidy spoke to the level of professionalism this company represents.

Reficiency Solar delivered outstanding service, products and value for our solar project and is highly recommended to our family and friends!
