Solar Energy Company reviews in Sandwich, Illinois

All fixed!!!
-
This company was sub-contracted by my solar company to replace an inverter, and they left a sloppy mess where clean conduits were supposed to be. They were called out a second time to fix the first problem and they made things worse. I now have to perform my own conduit repairs to repair the damage done by their electricians.

From my initial phone conversation with Eric and Jen, I knew I had found the right company to do my detach and reset. Had nothing but problems with first company I dealt with and was discouraged that I may not have much luck with the process. Jen was attentive and returned all my calls. I stopped in and spoke with Norm and Jen and got the information I needed. It’s hard to find a company that truly cares about customer service, but IRE came through for us. Thanks again! Would highly recommend for anyone with solar needs.

I was very impressed with IRE - they installed solar panels on my house in La Grange. They also did a nice job remedying an issue getting the SREC credit. I would highly recommend IRE for anyone interested in getting solar panels

We contacted IRE to install some lights in our shop and a 220 dryer outlet. They came right out and did an assessment and gave us a quote. They then worked us into their schedule in a tight timeframe we had. Extremely professional from the first phone call to the end of the project. They exceeded our expectations.

Work completed was replacing a 30 space main panel with a 42 space panel, running conduit and 220 wiring to Garage for electric vehicles as well as additional plugs and lights in shop. Mitch and Eric did a great job! Great communication, answered all my questions and completed work on time with a very competitive price! Would highly recommend independence for noble energy

We chose IRE as our solar panel provider/installer because they are a local, family-owned company with the best price and warranty for what we wanted. We are VERY pleased with their work and service! They took care of all of the details, from permits with our village to installing them around our schedules. We highly recommend IRE to anyone looking to purchase solar panels for their home or business!

Wow! Mitch and Eric were absolutely amazing. I needed my foyer light swapped out with a new one and after calling many electricians and services they were the only ones who were super responsive and by far gave me the best quote. They were affordable, professional, clean and very careful. Going forward I will be using them for any electrical services and will be referring them to my buyers/sellers if they need help! Thanks again Mitch and Eric!

IRe did a great job in installing my ceiling fan. They came on time, we’re very polite and professional. Cost of work was reasonable. Very neat and clean work. I highly recommend Mitch and his partner who did our work in Bolingbrook in mid September 2021

I had very disappointing experience with Norm/Alex and IRE.
It started with solar proposal which took much longer than others but was quite attractive. I explained that warranty is important to me and that's why we agreed to upgrade panels and micro inverter to have full 25 years warranty. I also explained that my roof is 16 years old and they said they will come to take a look.
During site visit they stated they are not the roofers so they cannot comment on the roof however they can install solar without problems and give full warranty.
When we moved to contact i asked about few parts which were very favorable to them and shifting all kind of liabilities towards me (or limiting their liabilities). I also asked about part stating that they will not be liable for roof damages which was contrary to previous discussion. I also asked about warranty which states that labor is covered only for 10 years despite previous discussion of 25 years coverage. Surprisingly I couldn't reach them via phone for few days and they were not responding to my requests for call so this was email discussion. They ultimately stated that they are not interested in my project.
I never experienced this kind of customer treatment. They were surprising difficult to contact or discuss with before they got my money so I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to work with them after they get your money. -
EDIT: Norm and the team finally got back to me and generously resolved a production issue by adding complimentary panels, micros, and additional stanchions. I am genuinely thankful for their help throughout this process.
IRE was responsive and prompt from project start (April 2022) to installation (September 2023.)
The install was fairly seamless, although they deviated from their initial installation plan and put our ground-mounted array in a place that receives considerable shade by 4pm, which looks likely to put annual production well below the initial estimates. They've requested we wait roughly a year to better estimate the shortfall before correcting it.
Unfortunately, a year recently passed and about 5-6 emails over the course of a month have gone completely unanswered and unaddressed by IRE. I'm thankful I haven't had any issues with the system, because I'm not sure anything would be fixed under warranty within a reasonable time frame. Really disappointed with communication and after-sale service. -
IRE responded to my house regarding an error with the system, diagnosed the issue, and unfortunately, it was due to squirrel damage. The damaged items were replaced, and we are back in service. The sales, service, and technicians were very friendly and responsive. I recommend IRE for solar services.

So, I have been patient with them. I know they did not install my system, but they were recommended by Generic for repairs. It took a bit a time, but I understand that they need to get panels similar to mine. I had damage from squirrels. But I asked them to add one more panel to make it 14 instead of 13 installed by the original company. I was quoted to replace one bad panel and add a “14th panel”. I get maybe they could not fix the “13th” panel. That’s fine, But I have no communication from Eric about why they couldn’t used my “13th panel and used the additional 14th because they found that the 13th was bad. I have contacted him several times with no call backs or emails explaining why they did what they did. I am willing to pay for the “14” panel understanding that the 13th was bad, but all a have heard was crickets. All I ask, if they don’t want to work on my system please tell me so I can find another company. My experience with Independent renewable energy has been terrible. But could have been better with a bit of communication.

In the spring of 2024, our solar system stopped working. That was when I found out what it meant to be a solar orphan. The company that installed our solar system went out of business, and it was hard to find someone to help us get it back online. Then Independence Renewable Energy adopted us, and we were so happy with their service. They fixed the problem, gave us some great advice, and set up a squirrel fence to help keep out the squirrels.
We had some connectivity issues a year later, and they came to the rescue again. Thanks to Katherine, Norm, Eric, and their team for keeping our solar up and running. My biggest thanks and recommendations go out to Independence Renewable Energy!
