We recently worked with Norm and his team from IRE and cannot begin to thank them all for the excellent job they did, from working with Norm on designing a suitable system, to having Eric and his team on-site for a 'second to none' solar installation. We would strongly recommend IRE if you are considering going solar, you will not be disappointed.

I contacted them to repair a problem with our solar battery. They came out and changed out some fuses in the unit. It worked for about a week before the problem returned. I've been trying to contact them since then, over a month now, but they won't return my calls. If you can find another option that fits your needs you should go with that.

Amy and Kat are amazing.. We had LOTS of questions ..many dealing with technology issues. They answered quickly and were always delightful to work with.

I highly recommend Independence Renewable Energy. My roof was damaged by hail in February 2024. We couldn’t get my solar panel leasing company remove the panels in a timely manner. Fortunately IRE was approved contractor and they removed our panels, unfortunately they found critter damage to our panels.

Our leasing company came out numerous times to inspect the damaged panels and IRE backed us up with the inspections. They installed the panels that weren’t damaged and refused to install damage panels due to fire hazard that our leasing company said to reinstall even after they saw the damage condition the panels were in.

Bottom line these guys were highly available and responsive to getting our system working again. I wish we used them for our solar system, 5-stars!!!!

Great team that installed my panels in 2020. Very friendly and professional crew. I was very happy with all aspects of the process. 4 years later my panels are still pumping out electrons. My electricity bill is typically around $16 (due to the fixed costs and fees so I don't think I can get it any lower).

These people Independence Renewable Energy did a fantastic job removing and re-installing our solar system. It all started with micro-inverters not reporting and built into replacing our roof. The original company went out of business. We had no one to do the work. Enphase recommended them and the rest is history. The also repaired our system for little critters eating our wires. They install a guard around the solar panels so that this will not happen again. Did know that these critters would do this. Independence Renewable techs came fixed and safe guarded our system. These people are a treasure for there are not many solar people out there that will repair others just want to sell the system and not support it. Thank You Norm and his team for the great work.

I was a bit concerned at first since IRE was a subcontraced service company from the company that originally intalled our solar system. However, the contract they presented my was very detailed and their crew completed the job in two phases exactly as specified in said contract. If I need service in the future I will call IRE!

As a phone shopper getting information about solar installation in Morris, IL. This is the first company to have someone answer the phone and explain the process to me. I have made a lot of dud calls prior to calling them. So, good job on that!!

We were stranded after Power Home Solar went Bankrupt. We had a Generac system that had problems. Norm talked with me and Eric has gotten our system humming finally 3 plus years after installing the system it is operating great and fully. I only wished had used them for the original install. These guys are terrific.Since April our bills were approximately 16.45 16.35 .74 cents and 37.00 These guys are great. Thanks for the excellent service.

Wonderful experience! We needed more capacity, but also had a glitch in our existing system that had been installed by a company no longer in business. IRE took care of both, at a reasonable cost and with an minimum of fuss. Would recommend highly!

If you want solar in Northern Illinois, don't look anywhere else. I work in the utility industry and have turned down more solar proposals than I can count over the past few years from other companies. I had read too many horror stories of fly-by-night installers, poor quality installations, and companies leaving their customers stranded that didn't make the investment worth the risk. That all changed when I met Norm and his team. Norm provided a straightforward proposal, was transparent (and honest) about the variables that would impact my pay back period, and assured me his installation team would provide a quality installation that met my expectations. His team did just that. The installers were professional, addressed my requests while on site, and knocked the install out in just 2 days. The back office team over communicated, kept me up to date on the project each week, and answered every question I had along the way. A few months in and the system is performing better than I anticipated and I couldn't be happier.

We had IRE install a solar system on our house in early 2024. We shopped around with different companies prior to choosing IRE and chose IRE as they were very open and honest with the process, pricing and expectations. I contacted other companies to get quotes and didn't get a great feeling that they were providing me with honest, fair quotes.

Throughout the whole quoting, planning, installation and turn up phases of the project, IRE kept me informed of progress, assisted me with paperwork and set the expectations for the next phase. At no time during the process was I left wondering what was going on. I was always in the know.

The installation was done within the timeframe that IRE projected and the quality of the installation was superb. I have to say that I am very particular about how my house looks and they made sure to properly place the solar panels in the most optimum location and made sure to not expose any conduit. The architecture of my house is such that almost all conduit is hidden from plain sight with only a short run of conduit on the back side of my house running to the switch box.

After the system went live, I immediately started getting the benefits of net-metering exactly to the expectations set by IRE.

I was so satisfied with IRE that I recommended my son contact them as well. My son and his wife are now in the process of getting solar installed on their house by IRE.

I highly recommend IRE! And oh yeah, working with Norm is great!
