I needed a large Willow tree removed from my backyard and wasn't sure how to select a good company. I called the village of Skokie and asked for recommendations. They offered many referrals and I called eight of them to get quotes. The prices came in ranging from $2,000-$2,800 including debris removal and stump grinding. Montoya's came in about mid-range.

The reason I chose them was because I really appreciated the way Desta (the crew supervisor) explained everything to me. She was patient and thoughtful and her knowledge of trees is extensive. She told me she could have her crew at my place within ten days, and followed through. She even agreed to have her stump grinder operator grind a few extra small stumps for me at no additional charge.

I highly recommend Desta and her crew. Salvador (her lead guy in the tree) was also amazing. He and his men made the job look easy.

I'll definitely call them again.

I called this company to get an estimate on removing the dead branches on my neighbors half dead tree. The arborist (a girl with a name starting with a "D") told me, " the tree was fine. Looked great, not dead at all. "A month later the tree fell onto my property, smashing down on my lawn, and crashing through the family room roof of my house. And I was worried about the branches falling. I got the whole dead tree on my house instead. Obviously the woman knew nothing about trees, or was just lying to me. My neighbor was their customer. So remember my experience with Montoya when looking for tree companies. Stay safe.....stay away from their diagnosis.

If you're looking for tree service, highly recommend Montoya. Have used them for over 20 years and just had team over to do my Dad's house. Trimmers are extremely professional, polite and their workmanship and knowledge can't be beat -- not to mention very fair pricing.

I reached out to Montoya to set up a quote for tree removal.

During my initial call, I was able to set up an appointment for Friday at 9am. On Thursday afternoon I was contacted by their representative and alerted that there was now a scheduling conflict for my appointment. I received no apology for the inconvenience, but was instead offered alternatives for re-scheduling. I ended up taking the option offered to me of noon.

At noon on Friday, no one had arrived. Six minutes past noon, I was texted again by the representative and alerted that she would be late - not arriving until 12:40pm. This was frustrating as I was notified after she was already late and that again I received no apology for the inconvenience.

I accepted this situation and - once again - the appointment time (set and re-set by the Montoya team) arrived and the representative was late. I ended up cancelling as my initial interactions with their business have been ones of delay and disappointment. Regardless of what their actual skills and services are in regards to trees, I cannot moved beyond these poor interactions as a new customer just looking to get a quote.

Great service for trimming my trees encroaching on my house wires and roof. I've used this service for 4 years. They are very professional and clean up afterward.

Very happy with Montoya Tree Service. They came yesterday and removed a dead tree, trimmed 2 overgrown trees, and removed quite a few overgrown bushes as well. Very efficient and did a great job, can’t even tell there were 8 foot tall bushes there before. The arborist was also very informative and helpful when she originally came for the quote. Thank you!!

We had three very very large trees removed from our property and they were amazing. The price was incredible, the workers were talented, clean, and efficient. Their arborist, Desta, was wonderful during the assessment. Definitely used Montoya if you have tree needs.

We used Montoya to remove some trees and trim major and minor branches from electrical lines. Desta was great in educating us about tree care. The crew was very professional and did a great job with cleanup as well! They arrived when scheduled. They were reasonably priced. Everything looked great once they left. We will definitely contact them again and would highly recommend them.

Yesterday, Montoya came out and did a combination of tree removal (2 large trees), trimming a dead branch from another tree and removal of some invasive Buckthorn growth. We couldn't be happier with the experience. The team arrived promptly in the morning. I reviewed the project with them and they went to work.

Watching them work told me that these guys knew what they were doing. Everyone knew what his job was, and this made for a very efficient operation. In 4 hours they were finished and had cleaned up the work area. The very large trunk pieces wee stacked in the front yard near the street. They told us that these would be picked up today, along with the stump grinding. As discussed, the pickup truck and grinder showed up at about 8:00 this morning, and finished the project.

The quality of the work was excellent. One thing that stood out was the extent the crew went to to be sure that the work areas were clean when they left. I would recommend Montoya to anyone needing tree work done.

Had half of a tree come down in my backyard during a storm. Called Montoya and they were out the next morning to give me a quote. Quote was very reasonably priced. 2 hours later a crew was out to the property and taking care of the work. They were quick and got the job done well.

Not only was the price of cutting down four large trees extremely affordable but it was done exceptionally well. They cut down a HUGE tree that was extremely close to electric wires, a fence and our neighbors house and the tree was removed with no damage to surrounding property. They also cleaned up the debris in our yard and it looked better than before they did work in our yard. It was an extremely skillful crew and they were extremely efficient, completing the job in an extremely timely manner. We are so grateful and relieved to have found them!

Whole experience was great. From the phone call with Jackie who was very pleasant and informative to Javier who came out on time. Explained what I needed done, gave me a quote on site. Even though I was on vacation when the job was done, everything was done perfectly. Crew went over and beyond. The cleanup was impeccable. I will call no one else for future work.

Absolutely amazing we are so pleased with the work they did. We had a silver maple that needed major trimming. We can’t thank them enough ,very professional cleaned up afterwards extremely nice. We’re very pleased.

Needed a lot of tree trimming done. They came by same day to give me a reasonable quote and then came by a few days later to do the work. It was done really well and they did a great job of cleaning up afterwards.

The team did a great job removing a tree and stump grinding at a very reasonable price. Would definitely use in the future and recommend to others!
