What locals say about Appliance Repair in Brownsburg

Paul Dowdy was terrible tech. Dryer not working. He immediately dismissed it as electrical without actually looking into diagnosing the dryer. Due to his immediate dismissal, I had to pay an electrician to tell me the electrical was fine and it was the dryer. And now they are unable to come back out same day. I attempted to reach out to the local posted phone number, but spent 10 minutes dealing with automated AI garbage before finally reaching a person who could only read from a script and refused to be helpful. What a joke of a company and technician.

Pedro Alvarez was a wonderful technician! I was very happy with the service he provided. he explained everything thoroughly and was polite. He didn't mind answering my questions. I hope Sears will recognize him for a job well done. It is hard to find good employees today and you should do whatever it takes to keep him. Customer Service goes a long way. The cost for the repair was a huge disappointment but that's not his fault.

As soon as he walked it he wanted the service call paid for ,fine, but he looked at our unit for 10 secs said the coil isn’t hooked up I’ll see what we can do. Then who knows how long he messed with it because when we looked out the window 20 mins later he was gone. We had our dog locked up and he didn’t even say he was leaving so we could let her out. He didn’t tell us next steps, how to fix it, if he fixed it, he just left.

I had two repairmen in one day (Sears was unable to send someone who could both do the annual A/C maintenance and the compactor repair). A/C service was fine, but technician on the trash compactor was unable to fix the problem after five minutes of "work" -- then I received a receipt showing no charge, which I figured was fair since he spent very little time and accomplished nothing -- so I was OK that he couldn't fix it as long as there was no charge as shown on the receipt! But then my credit card bill arrived and showed $100 for that "service". When I called to complain, no refund was available (they offered a second service call, but since their own technician said it couldn't be fixed, we had already ordered a new product. The technician never mentioned the option for a second technician to come or for replacement of the appliance. With no adjustment to the $100 charge, I asked to cancel the service / monthly plan and was forwarded to someone else and was disconnected on that call, and then disconnected again when I called again -- so disconnectedTWICE !! THIRD person (actually fourth if you count the original person) I spoke to asked why I wanted to cancel (this was the fourth person I'd told the story to them). This last person argued with me for almost 15 minutes and did not listen to my repeated and absolutely unambiguous requests to cancel. in the process they mentioned that the technician said our dishwasher was working fine -- but we don't have a dishwasher!!! Then she then insisted on reading me a long speech about the loss of benefits and the fact that there would additional charges of well over $100 just to cancel! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PLAN. Sears is inconsistent in its ability to provide service as promised and will not stand behind its service plan. The company is also frighteningly stupid in its policies -- if they had refunded the $100, they'd be getting $50 a month in continued premiums for far longer than two months. Instead, they chose to keep their $100, charge me more to cancel, and never so much as "we made a mistake" or calling in a supervisor.

We were connected to Sears Appliance Repair through our home warranty for service on our HVAC system, and the experience was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Despite receiving multiple email reminders that our appointment window was between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., the technician, Michael T., showed up at 5:45 p.m. Michael T. "tested" our subcooling levels, asked for his $75 fee, and then promptly got into his van without providing any diagnostic reports with specific numbers. When we inquired about the subcooling number, he vaguely responded with "like 14 ish." This was concerning, as our unit's optimal subcooling level is 10, and we knew from a recent tune-up that it was closer to 3. After going back and forth with our home warranty to send out another technician, we were unfortunately assigned to Sears once again, with Michael T. as the technician. The arrival window kept getting pushed back, forcing my husband to take PTO for the full day. Eventually, I worked with the home warranty to dispatch our service to a more credible business and ultimately canceled the appointment with Sears. Our service today confirmed that the subcooling level was under 3, indicating that refrigerant was required. Michael and Sears could have taken care of this for us weeks ago while he was here if he had an ounce of integrity. Adding to our frustration, Sears operates with an AI-only customer service model, meaning we were unable to connect with a human to request a new technician. Overall, the experience was terrible. I have advised my home warranty company to bar Sears from their dispatch options if at all possible. Unprofessional and untrustworthy, they seem to be just there to collect a service call fee without providing genuine service. Avoid if you can.
