We used this company through our home warranty and they went above and beyond. The spotted the leak in our system very quickly, and worked with our home warranty company to cover the issue. We only had to pay the initial service call fee. I was highly impressed with their service and even more so with their follow up call making sure I was satisfied. 10/10 APW! Would highly recommend.

We are very happy with APW! They were very professional and worked wonderfully with me to complete our job quickly. AC, furnace, tankless hot water heater, and water softener all accomplished in a timely manner. They were very tidy about my home and careful about my pets.
The financing was smooth and easy. We received a great interest rate and payment plan. I am very please and would highly recommend their services. -
I used this company to get a new furnace, AC and tankless water heater. Today, Doug came and did a complete humidifier service and blower cleaning w/duct cleaning. He did it quickly and made no mess at all. He also took care of some loose wires that were sitting on the furnace that I asked him about. I hadn't seen them before the last maintenance was done. Everyone I have had any dealings with at this company have been professional and courteous and they have done a great job at all times. I appreciate their professionalism .

We had APW come out to take a look at our old water heater. They did a thorough inspection and made their recommendations for replacement. They also took the opportunity to review our other systems as we were looking to potentially replace older units. They were very professional and courteous. They explained what they were doing and gave us honest options. To boot they even came a day early due to a cancellation. Appreciated the opportunity to work with them and will look to work with them in the future.

I had my AC, Furnace, Water Heater & Humidifier replaced the 1st week of January by Jason & his team and they did a WONDERFUL job!
When they removed the legacy system they even cleaned up the concrete under it before they put in the new system! Talk about WHITE GLOVE SERVICE!
These guys are PRO's! All the way from Carol who calls to schedule the appointments (love her bird dog tenacity), to Phil who sold me the system and did the initial assessment, to Jason's team who installed the system! My favorite thing is the service plan! They come out twice a year so I don't have to worry & they ship my filters right to my front door! Phil even came out and followed up on the installation a couple of weeks after it was installed, very different from a lot of the "Thanks for the money, now bye Felicia...." salesmen out there!
If you need any HVAC or Plumbing, I highly recommend APW! They are a class act! -
Great experience all around! Jamie was an amazing help finding the system at the budget we needed! I really like how he approached as a practical homeowner and not another salesman trying to make the biggest commission. Brian and Mark were very professional installing the equipment very clean looking and well put together! I initially had a problem with space but they were able to still give me everything I wanted within the space constraints! 100% would recommend!

The company did have to send a second person out, as my issue wasn’t initially resolved. However, when I called again, the representative was very professional and customer focused. They sent the master technician out and he was personable, took the time to diagnose the issue and validated the toilet was properly fixed. I appreciate working with a company like this. Thank you giving us our master toilet!!

Jason has been awesome through the whole process from purchase to installation. We appreciate how quickly APW was able to get out here and assess our problems, as well as, sell us a quality product. The crew that came in were courteous and worked hard to get our installation completed. If they didn't have to drill and tear equipment apart, you wouldn't have known they were here.

The technician was very nice and explained the issue and fixed it quickly. I had a problem with the scheduling. I had the appointment between 10-12. At 12:30 I called the operator and she said that my appointment had been moved because of an emergency. She then said that the technician would still be able to make it today and that we would get a text or call when the technician was on his way. Again no text or call. The technician was fine but I don’t enjoy spending half a day of vacation trying to figure out when he would show up. Difference between a 3 star and a 5 star/return customer would be a simple phone call to let me know before my appointment that the technician would be later.

When they price the heating and cooling systems as two separate prices, you know you are about to loose some money.
7k for cooling system and 5k for the heating system???
*(For those that don't know they are apart of the same unit. The same one that cost them $1500-3500)
This company is full of very polite and professional people. My observation, as a man who has been in commercial maintenance for 6 years, the prices are very inflated for repairs. I was quoted $3000 to replace a filter dryer (a $20 part around a 3ish hour job). I had another guy come out and fixed it for $400. The unit replacement costs are fair by market standards but are still inflated quite a bit. You get the benefits of not thinking twice about the unit if replaced by APW or other pro company, but it is not friendly to a middle class family budget. They will finance and work with you to a point, but you have to choose what is best for you. I would recommend them to anyone where money is not a deciding factor. 5 Stars for customer service -2 for pricing. -
I’m giving APW 2 star because there has been an unfortunate series of events that has caused my experience with them to be less than enjoyable. This rating is not coming from a disgruntled customer who they inconvenienced by being late or customer service was rude. No. They are getting 2 stars because they did a BAD job installing my new HVAC system. BAD. Really, really bad. The job was so bad, that since installation, I’ve had to have technicians back out to my house an additional FIVE times to fix things that the original installers completely botched.
If you want the short version of this review, here it is: We hired APW for a completely new HVAC system. We paid $14,000 for a particular package that met our needs after getting quotes from other companies. We were promised a high quality, clean installation and customer service. They “take pride in their installation” – direct quote from our sales person, Kain. We did not get that. There were holes and gaps left in our furnace, screws that were missing from furnace attachments, drainage pipes that were not attached properly and leaked in multiple places, and a huge mess was left behind.
If you hire them, treat this company like a math problem and triple check that they have done the work that was promised and get everything in writing.
Throughout the process I’ve heard multiple times from the techs who came to fix issues that “APW prides themselves on their install BUT we have new guys that don’t know our install process.” To me that tells me they have a training discrepancy with their install crew. Train your technicians APW because this has been a headache! -
Bought an ac, furnace and water softener system in October 2017. Main goal was to have ac ready to go for the summer but that didn’t happen. Went the entire summer of 2018 with window units because their A/C unit couldn’t cool the house below 85. Wasn’t until things cooled down that they finally did some type of repair, so now I am waiting till 2019 to see if it works. 6 visits easily in total, all that was done was system testing to say that the system was working, wasn’t until the final visit they found air leaks and decided to seal them up. 2 other company’s have stated that the unit/air handler is to small for the home. I would tend to believe that, considering my window units worked fine; by APW standards, I guess 1 window unit should cool the home. Calling their office/appointments is a whole other issue itself.
The plus side I suppose,
Never had issues from their techs, I would assume that the message was never relayed from the office of the issue I was having.
Haven’t had any issues with the water softener -
1. On the day that masks became a Wyandotte county order, we had to ask our “Comfort Specialist” to put hers on after entering our house.
2. The Comfort Specialist assured us she would be here the morning or install. She never appeared and we never received any communication as to why this happened.
3. The Comfort Specialist quoted us about $2600 for our buyout option from our home warranty company. Having been on the job for 5 years as she stated, she should know that we only get a buyout from pieces that are deemed broken. In this case, our coil, which means we now receive less money from our warranty company than choosing to instead do a credit through APW. Probably what they wanted to accomplish anyways.
4. Our Comfort Specialist sold us on the fact that APW could put a humidifier in our attic. Not only was she wrong, she then tried to sell us a “steam humidifier” for $1700, only for us to find out later from one of APW’s techs that even the steam humidifier won’t work in the attic. This is after the comfort specialist had apparently talked to some managers and was going to offer us the steam humidifier for only $675 or give us a $675 credit. We refused since we believed we deserved more compensation. Since she has worked for the company for 5 years, you would think she would know this about the humidifiers.
5. We had to ask three separate times between the front desk receptionist and our comfort specialist to have an invoice sent. Our final invoice is still incorrect because it shows that a humidifier was installed when it was not.
6. After our new system was installed, the tray under our furnace kept collected 1-2 inches of water, forcing the a/c to shut off. We returned home 3 days after it was installed and found the house at 86°. We called our comfort and told her the situation and she told us someone would be out first thing in the morning. It took 3 phone calls the next day for us to have someone come out the next day and look at the a/c and say they fixed it. Someone wasn’t out to our house until 1pm.
7. The following day, the A/C is still shutting off after a visit from the same techs who installed it. We are finally able to have a manager (Jason) come out and he diagnoses the problem as the wrong coil being put in.
8. We finally get someone to come out and fix the issue so that the a/c doesn’t shut off the whole time.
9. We put our complaints in and we’re told we’d receive a call from the COO by the end of business on Monday. We called 4 times after not receiving a call on that Monday requesting to speak with them and they are conveniently not available each time.
10. Out of the blue, we are told we have to have a post inspection done before “our options can be discussed”. We get that done and request a call from the COO that day (Thursday) and a call never appears and when we call, they are out of the office again.
11. We were pushed off and had not received a call back once after requesting work or requesting a call in order to say our complaints. We had to call every single time. This is not the Dixie difference we were promised. This is not good customer service
12. We wasted more than a week of our time dealing with waiting for someone to fix our brand new system.
13. We did finally speak to someone after they “discussed our options” which included our demand that we be compensated 15% for our troubles. They did give us a 15% refund, but it was like pulling teeth to even talk to someone about it. We should’ve read the reviews and not gone with the first company our warranty company suggested. They still haven’t replaced something they said they would since they did install two brand new systems, but for some reason left some of the old parts on. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU. -
They came in and gave us a quote on a blower motor for our A/C. Price was outrageous… $850 to clean the blower fan, $500+ to replace the parts, then of course labor cost. On top of all that the technician wasn’t personable at all. Needless to say we had a second opinion done, managed to get everything done for less than $400. Would never recommend this company to anyone… clearly just trying to rob hard working people.

Technician Jason told me my unit was dirty. He told me if I pay him $500 now he would clean the unit then report to the home warranty company it was clean in the claim. If I didn't he would report the unit dirty and it would be denied. He also told me the repair bill would be $2000. I got a second opinion from A B May they said they could repair the unit for $670. There are close to a dozen other reviews for this business starting the same thing I experienced

The actual system is nice(when it was running!), finally updating my houses hvac system nearly cut my electric bill in half so it was well worth it(so I thought). I would have given a 5 star, however I just was not happy with the miscommunication that went on while getting it replaced. I do NOT still recommend them. They at least held true to the quote I was given even after nearly 5 months.
Edit: I would've updated this sooner but I got too busy with other things. Anyways. I had my HVAC system replaced around summer time of last year. Not even 6 months later one of the systems stopped functioning and wouldn't heat. After calling to try to set up an appointment with them they said I was not in service range. If that was true why come out and offer your warranty if you break the contract yourself by not coming out like agreed. Was at least satisfied with the work prior but after all the drama I have had to deal with this company I now make sure to tell everyone I can to never use these people. -
I have used this company this year through the home warranty over 10 times for different issues and locations, however, none of those times this company's techs showed up on time nor fixed anything. They also Rescheduled us several times pushing us back 1 to 2 weeks a way when we had a leak that needed to be fixed immediately. It seemed like They would show up to collect the service fees and then tell us its non covered items by warranty when it was. or they will have to come back because they don't have all their tools on them but of course they never call or come back again. I remember they have collected over $900 in service fees but they provided us with 0 service. I called their manager ( Keith) and spoke to him but he didn't offer any solution to the problem. He said you need to speak to another manager. then I decided that's a waste of time. I notified my home warranty and asked them not to assign this company to me anymore. It was a very bad experience dealing with them, I guess when you are a client from the home warranty you are dealt with differently.

We have American Shield Home Warranty. This company was who we got set up with due to water leak. This company only comes to Independence one day a week, it took them a week to get here after putting in request through home warranty. Once here advised what issue was and that we had to create an access for them to fix it. Once that was done they came out to “re-diagnose” what they already diagnosed and advised “other issues we had to get fixed and that home warranty wouldn’t pay for it (which I expected them to contact home warranty to verify before making that decision) Made us pay for all of that including a $65 re-diagnose fee which should not be charged. After contacting home warranty multiple times a week for weeks advising them of the charges, APW still had yet to fix the leak and it was now going on 4 weeks, we got a second opinion and the water leak was not what APW advised was the problem and just so happened to be one of the things they made us pay for that they claimed home warranty wouldn’t pay for. To top it all of the new plumbing company advised we didn’t have to make the hole in wall and it was all done for nothing. This new plumbing company is also fixing the problem In 4 days compared to almost the 4 weeks it has taken APW. We finally smartened up with this company and had enough of their games. We did get a refund after advising them I didn’t want them to do anything. This company scams people who have home warranty. DO NOT use this company. In my multiple calls to home warranty I have advised them they need to drop their contract with this company. You will be out lots of money if you use them and they will tell you it won’t be covered when in all reality they never checked with the home warranty.

The techs at APW we’re all very nice as was Jenny in the office. However, when the tech diagnosed my AC he indicated that the unit needed to be replaced. Upon further investigation with the previous homeowners warranty that was not the case at all. The tech simply didn’t tighten the valve cap and my unit lost all it’s coolant. I had to have another company come out and fix APW’s error and pay for another service call and more coolant. When I spoke to APW about the error they refused to make it right. I feel like the tech was trained to do a sales job on me not provide good quality work. It’s really too bad that rather than keeping my business for years down the road they chose to not stand behind their work. I will not be recommending APW to anyone. I guess if your looking for the Dixie difference you should have your check book ready. They clearly weren’t worried about me as the client or any kind of integrity in their actions.

We needed a new furnace and American Home Shield sent APW who could never get their act together. Lots of stalling on getting approvals and later I found out APW wanted to charge me over $1000 more than the home warranty service said was appropriate for all the EXTRA un-covered new duct work etc that is inevitable in new installations. Finally AHS sent another company that completed the work in a timely and efficient manner and my share was reasonable . THEN we had an AC problem and here comes APW again, tried to do the repair a couple of times and then quit the job telling us the problem was a shoddy install of the furnace by “the other company”. The last tech they sent to my house was arrogant and rude. He kept referring to me as “Boss” and after I kicked him off the property he promptly called the “Women Owned” APW owner stating I had been profane which was false but a good excuse to cover yourself from a complaint. Anyway lady owner was just as rude and reading all these negative reviews makes me wonder how they stay in business!

Steer clear! Beware! Unprofessional technicians and they commit FRAUD in order to make an extra buck from you. Save yourself time, money and a headache and go somewhere else. On top of my negative experience, when I told them I would be writing a review to reflect what I thought of them and their service, they called me back immediately and offered me $300 dollars refund (on the service I paid for that I didn’t actually need) if I would provide them a 5-star review. After much thought, I decided that it wasn’t worth the money. I think that you should take any 5-star reviews for APW with a grain of salt.
Among the list of things that were negative with APW:
• With completely normal water pressure readings, they insisted that I needed a pressure regulator valve. They first quoted it at $300. I politely declined. Then the told me that the other repairs would not be covered by the home warranty company if I didn’t install this valve. Then it was quoted at $600. Conveniently the same amount that the other repairs (tub spout leaking when shower head engaged) would have cost me if my home warranty didn’t cover them.
• The technician visited my house on 2 separate occasions. On both occasions he asked to use the bathroom after he had shut off the water. He took a dump in my bathroom both times and allowed it to fester until he turned the water back on at the end of his visit.
• Upon completing the repairs, there were wrappers and trash from the parts left all over my bathroom.
• The women in the office are also very difficult to work with. The technician is standing in front of you telling you one story and when you call them, they’re telling you a different story. Super frustrating.
My experience with APW plumbing was through my home warranty company who assigned me to APW. If you have the same misfortune, call your home warranty company and demand a different plumbing company assignment.
