Landscaping reviews across the US

We have been working extensively with Valley View Landscaping and the experience has been amazing. They have done grading, installed grass and many trees. They also did all the landscaping around our house as well. Maria has fantastic ideas and has an eye for what may look good for each property. Pricing is competitive and the service has been outstanding. We have also used them for installing a deck and eventually we plan to install a patio with them. Communication, value and the overall experience has been exceptional.

Dishonest company with poor workmanship.

We hired them to redo the front landscaping and walkway at our home based on a recommendation by a trusted source. Things started great. We had them redo our brick walkway and add a patio next to the front stoop. They brought a sample brick and told us it was the closest match available. We were confused, but since we trusted them, we assumed that our other brick was too old and that an exact match was unavailable. The walkway was over 30 years old. After they installed the patio, it quickly became apparent it was completely different. It looked nothing like the existing bricks. Then it faded even more to look almost grey. It looks ridiculous. We found out later the exact brick was still made and that they must have just had some leftover bricks; they must have wanted to off on some unsuspecting customers. It turns out they have a landscape supply business, too. Which I was unaware of at the time. So they knew those bricks that matched ours were available from a different supplier, which they admitted later after I got samples from a brick supplier in Milwaukee. Not once did they mention that to us. They refused to fix it without charging us 2k to replace it and new bricks. I even offered to buy the new bricks if they would install them to fix it. No, go; we were stupid enough to believe them and are stuck with a 10k walkway and patio that do not match. Of course, they say we agreed to these bricks. If they had been honest and said the same bricks are available from a different supplier, and you can get them yourself, and we will install them, I would have done that in a second. Who would want a mismatched set of bricks for that price? I got no sensible response when I asked them if they would have installed these bricks at their house if it was their patio at their home. They had nothing to say; they literally would not answer that question. That is simply dishonest and intentionally deceptive.

There were other issues throughout the process as well. They covered a gutter drain when adding new topsoil and leveling the yard. We had water coming in the basement all winter, and luckily, I found it in time. I asked them to fix the pipe in the yard, and they refused to accept that they covered it. They insinuated that I hired a second contractor to come and add fill after they did their work. It's completely absurd. The area was covered by a dense thicket of shrubs at the time. All they had to do was add an extension to the buried pipe—more denial and calling me a liar.

They buried the low voltage line through the lawn less than 1/2" deep, and you could see the wire in some places. I'm unsure how that will hold up to aerating the yard next year. I guess I'll be paying for a new line run out the right way.

They have a tough time planting trees. Every tree they planted was too high or below the ground level. One Redbud was so far below the ground level that the root flair would be completely covered if you leveled it to the soil surface. They returned and raised it but damaged a root, and 1/3 of the branches on the tree died. They offered to replace it at my expense. Again, they denied it was their fault in any way.

They were supposed to remove all the walkway joint material and replace it with new poly sand. They did not do that correctly, and weeds grew in the cracks within a month. Much of the poly sand has even sunk or washed away. This is not what we agreed on. They said just spray it with weed killer. I wouldn't have paid to redo it if I wanted to do that. That's the whole point.

I'd hire these people to mow your lawn, but don't give them 36k like we did to do complex tasks correctly. I would steer clear of this company for hardscaping. Once unsatisfied with something, their demeanor quickly changes to denial, which will cost you. It's too bad you can't trust people anymore.

J&S did a excellent job mulcing and refreshing our yard. They were very meticulous and professional. We would definitely recommend them. We look foward to working with J&S for future projects.

J & S are very professionally mannered when it’s face to face but I have come to find out that in my new lawn that they did, they didn’t do the fabric all the way around my yard for mulch before planting flowers/ bushes. They also didn’t till like they said they were going too because I have already noticed weeds coming thru the mulch where they didn’t put the fabric. Also on the estimate it said that they would let you know if the price will change and they didn’t until I received the bill. Next thing is they didn’t the work on a Thursday and by Friday I received the bill. Now that same weekend we had horrible flooding and I was dealing with my house basement a complete disaster. By Monday they were calling me to ask if I received the bill and when payment will be coming. When I stated that we received it last week Friday and dealing with issues with the flooding and then brought up how my final bill is different and never was notified, she didn’t even blink an eye and stated well we would like payment asap. Now I have to still spray for weeds since they didn’t do there job with the fabric like they should have and my fiancée did all the work with getting the old bushes out of the area that they were going to redo! Will not be using them again.

We couldn’t be more pleased with Joe and Sapphire and their company. We’ve had them do multiple projects at our home and both were completed as agreed to and on time. They’re also very good at cleaning up after themselves which isn’t always the case with contractors. I’d highly recommend using them for your next project. We definitely will.

Did a great job. The neighbors used a different local outfit for the same weed and feed service and our yard looked better.

Every time the lawn gets cut at my apartment building it’s a disappointment. They don’t trim around things & they don’t come once a week like they are suppose to. This week they decided to blow grass all over the side of my boyfriends truck along with the street. If it were up to me they wouldn’t be mowing our lawn.

I have never hired them but as they have done my neighbors lawn cutting plenty they always cross the property line and today I was sweared at very un professional people working for them

Did a great job on rerouting water flow. Gave us what we think was great advice and went above and beyond in adding several other items the day they showed up for previously accepted work.

Damian and the team did a phenomenal job developing the lawn around our new home. They arrived when they said they would and worked efficiently, Damian even staying afterward soaking down the new seeding--would use their services again, 100%.

Initial work "completed?" on a smaller yard in May. Reworked in June. Still waiting for the grass to grow in Sept. (Weeds & crabgrass doing nicely though). I guess $4-g's just doesn't go that far. Do it yourself or look elsewhere.
