Nero's Heating and Air

I called for winter service for my furnace, I was able to get an appointment within a few days. The technician Ray was very punctual and professional.

My HVAC cooling cabinet was leaking excessively, so I hired this contractor through Thumbtack. They sent a technician, Julian, the next day. He arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the issue, and got to work right away. He vacuumed out the water, cleared the clog in the drain pipe and installed a new pipe, and installed a safety stopper. He said I needed the stopper.

While I appreciated the fast service and now have working air conditioning, I later found out that the stopper was significantly overpriced and likely unnecessary. From several other HVAC contractors told me the part should’ve cost about a tenth of what I was charged, and that simply clearing the clog would have solved the problem. Instead, the stopper alone added hundreds to my bill.

While I’m happy that the issue was resolved and grateful for Julian’s fast work, I’m giving 3 stars because doubling a bill for ‘optional’ extra parts should be the customer’s choice. If I could return the stopper I would. Julian does great work but this HVAC company is very expensive to hire.
