Every single plant Valley View Farms files under "groundcover" is a noxious invasive weed. That's murder on the songbirds, butterflies, and entire ecosystem outside your yard and a lot more work and trouble in it. They also lower property values. Google "invasive plants in Maryland" and things like their Japanese pachysandra and Vinca minor will top most lists; you don't have to take my word for it.

They even have plants that work as groundcover, like Moss Phlox (which is evergreen at this latitude and native), in stock but not filed there. They could easily include other plants like Golden Groundsel (Packera aurea) that are also native, evergreen here, spread aggressively to cover ground just like the invasives, and will grow just about anywhere. It's exceptionally disappointing, as they also sell other non-native invasive plant species like Nandina.

Because of this, despite their frequently robust selection of food plants and house plants and their smattering of native cultivars, I cannot recommend this nursery.

If you have to shop here, please do it carefully with any shrub, bush, or perennial especially - these are plants that persist from year to year and are positioned to do a lot of damage. Protect your home's value, your neighborhood, the environment, and your own future time in contending with such plants.

Nice local owned store and ive bought many items here despite being pricey compared to other plant nurseries. Reason for the three stars are the bugs found on several plants and i actually left without buying even tho I really wanted that lady palm it now cost $99 (used to be $70) and was sitting too close to this cast iron plant covered in bugs. Buyer beware of higher prices and lower quality.

This place really has everything outdoors, especially for spring! From a big variety of trees, bushes, plants and flowers, there is much to choose from. The also have a ton of outdoor furniture and decor for all tastes. They also have a building next to their koi pond. It's full of outdoor statues, birdbaths, outside decorations for all kinds of settings.

Definitely can find ornaments for every personality in your family

Great variety of plants, trees, garden amenities and more. Pricing is on the higher end compared with Home Depot garden centers which have comparable inventory. Nonetheless, a nice place to show for all your garden needs.

It’s always nice coming to Valley view farms.. the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the different plants and offering to help. They have a wide selection of plants, trees, pots and also wind chimes

This is a great place to get into the holiday spirit!

Despite the rain, we had a good time walking around looking for a pumpkin and mums. Our daughter enjoyed the small straw maze. I enjoyed the Christmas bobbles!

They helped me out in a jam. This was my first live Christmas tree. We had used an artificial tree for 10+ years due to nostalgia of the one I bought for my husband while we were dating. Unfortunately, he died last November and the artificial tree was not holding up well, so I bought my first fresh tree. It was leaning and I couldn’t figure out why. They sent the delivery guy (Zach/Zack) back out to help me. There was a branch I didn’t notice making the tree lean. He cut it off and saved the day. I truly appreciate the service. I couldn’t have done it myself. My kids will have a nice Christmas now. Thank you, Valley View Farms. ❤️

I bought 8 frostproof gardenias this past spring and they’re doing amazing! When I bought them, they were very healthy and already considerable size, they weren’t the real tiny ones you would get at Lowe’s. I planted them exactly like the directions said in the first week of April (and gave a small boost of fertilizer last week) and I’ve got blooms coming in like crazy! Even though I moved down to Anne Arundel I will keep coming back for healthy plants for my dream backyard!

I planted this weeping willow in memory of my dog who passed away. It’s a peaceful spot now, and the tree brings comfort every time I see it. As it grows, it feels like a part of him is still here with me. It’s a quiet, beautiful way to remember him.

Wow... we drove from PA to Valley View Farms and was worth the hour long trip. They have everything Christmas. The quality of items are top notch and they are so beautifully displayed. The staff was excellent. They open the doors for you when arriving and leaving. Their selection of live wreaths and roping is always incredible. We bought 4 beautifully decorated sprays for on family grave. Valley View Farms is a must for Christmas.

I spent over $500 here buying plants this summer. 2 plants totalling over $60 died and they were indoor plants. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this happen with this store. I’ve lost so much money here. They offered me half off on one plant. Home Depot and Lowe’s are the only pls d to shop because they would’ve accepted and refunded these house plants I had for a month.

Great selection of plants aquatics and hardwoods. We come often for aquatic plants and supplies we cannot find elsewhere. Prices are a bit high but sales people are very knowledgable. Could use more parking and accessibility as others have stated.

We always know when Christmas is around the corner with the best display in the area at Valley View Farms. 2021 is no different! J

My favorite go to garden center. Valley View Farms has a knowledgeable and helpful staff. The garden center carries everything you could possibly imagine to create a beautifully landscaped yard.

They carry a wide variety of pond supplies, aquatic plants and fish.

There Christmas Shop is beautiful with everything you could imagine for decorating your tree.

4/2/2022 - Still the highest quality plants around. You get what you pay for so pay for the best. Valley View Farms never fails to amaze with their beautiful plant selection. The outdoor living area is awesome they have a large selection of patio sets and outdoor decor.

They carry all of your hardscaping needs and pond needs too.

I love Valley view farms. Everyone there are always very friendly . I am just getting into plants and have so many questions. I went back there on Saturday 9/13/2025 to purchase the same house plant again because the 1st one died very fast and I was so hurt so I had to get another one. Tina educated me on how to care for a house plant and I had so many questions but she had no problem with answering all of my questions. Tina even gave me a short test at the end of my questions and I passed. I thought that it was so cute and funny. She also said prior to me leaving that I could call back to ask additional questions if I have to. She was the sweetest and most helpful and patient with me and u greatly appreciated it. I could not thank her enough and she said that she was only doing her job. I know that everyone there are good at there job but I was so impressed by Tina and she will be my go to person. The cashier was very friendly also. Please recognize Tina for her outstanding customer service. Go Tina you're my #1 See you all soon ❤️

I am a fairly new plant mom and my colleague turned friend told me I would be “official” if I had not been to Valley View Farms lol, so here we arrived early on a Saturday morning and the trip to this oasis did not disappoint!

The place is huge!!! It has some of everything a person or business would ever need regarding plants & plant life. I was overwhelmed by the variety of plants they have on deck. The selection of flower pots was amazing and had unique pots that you won’t find at your local big box stores.

If I were to have purchased everything that I saw and wanted in there, I’d need a mansion, it’s sooooo many gorgeous things here, even outdoor furniture sets that are very nice!!!!

I was told that things here are on the expensive side but the things o saw and the quality of the item was on par. I will be making coming here a part of my annual routine.

Always an amazing visit! Loved all the Christmas goodies!
