Admittedly, I did not hire this company to provide any service. However, my neighbor did. The trouble with this company is that while providing service for my neighbor, they totally disregarded their impact to my property, including: (1) leaving many fallen branches all over my lawn for me to clean up, (2) climbing my fence to get on my lawn to swing the ropes on my neighbor’s trees, and finally, (3) the worst offense, parking their vehicles on my lawn tearing up newly seeded grass that I spent hours hand sowing. Interestingly enough, I have signs (yes, that’s plural) next to where the newly seeded grass was laid down that say “do not drive or park on the grass” and yet this company‘s employees totally disregarded the signs. Either the employees can’t read or the employees are inconsiderate. I suspect it is the latter based on their collective actions. How hard is it to walk over and discuss needing to get access to my property to provide the service to their client, cleaning up any mess made and respecting multiple signs?

For what it is worth, I don’t hold my neighbors responsible here. It is up to the company to make sure that in the performance of their service they don’t impact the neighbors of their clients. This company didn’t do that. This is a warning that you may have angry neighbors come after you if you hire this company as they employ people who are very disrespectful individuals.

I have lived in my home in Rockville for over 50 years. My home backs up to a small, mature woods. A week ago, an estimated 100 year old, 65 feet tall white oak tree uprooted and fell on the corner of my house, badly damaging the roof.
I immediately called Shifflett Tree, who sent the owner of the company, Ernest Shifflett, to my house to survey the damage within a couple of hours. The next morning, he returned with a crew of about ten, several trucks, and a 60 foot crane truck, to safely lift the tree off the roof without causing any additional damage. Limbs were ground up in a chipper, the main body of the tree was sawn up with chain saws and hauled off in a truck.
It took Shifflett Tree only about 3 hours to do all this while I watched. The fee was reasonable, given the magnitude of the job.
I have used this business whenever I have needed tree service over 50 years and have never regretted my choices for Shifflett Tree.

Competitive rate, professional communication and first rate pruning and removal in both my front and back yards. Have used multiple times, cannot see myself going with anyone else. Such a pleasure to get personal service from a locally owned family business as well! Highly recommended!

super professional, they pruned a massive oak tree in our front yard that desperately needed it (it had never been trimmed before). we wanted them to remove all the branches overhanging the house, but didn't want to jeopardize the tree's health. they came with a large crew for one tree (8 people total), worked efficiently, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. they aren't going to be the cheapest service out there, but when you want something done right it's worth it to use someone that knows what they're doing.

Shifflett have been our go to for at least 25 years. Always good service, fair price, no mess and professional staff. Give them a try. Family owned and run plus they are local.

I would highly recommend Shifflett Tree Service. They were the company recommended to me when a tree fell on my house during Hurricane Sandy and I have used them several times since. I have a lot of trust in the quality of their work, which is so important where trees are concerned. They recently took out a dead tree on my property and in addition to being efficient and professional, they did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards.

They were always on time when they said they would be there, and they did beautiful work. I believe their price was fair and the works was spectacular. NOTHING for me to do - everything was nicely cleaned up. They trimmed 5 very large trees in my yard in 3 hours - they brought a proper sized crew for the work. VERY impressed. HIGHLY recommend.

Extremely professional company and experts at tree removal, waste disposal and clean up. After calling a few other tree companies, I settled on Shifflett. They are a well oiled family owned business who from start to finish was terrific. On the scheduled removal day, they moved in with military precision (and at 730a, as promised). From removal to trimming of other trees to the stump removal, they were great. Highly recommend!

Shifflett Tree Service responded to an emergency situation within 30 minutes. They were able to quickly evaluate the needs to remove the tree that was leaning on my house. Great service. Very friendly, family run company with a great team. They came out to our house today and took down 3 trees, then pruned some others. Their team worked like a well oiled machine. They were finished in only 2.5 hours. Everyone on the team was very friendly and personable. The did a great job cleaning up after they were done. Plus, they were very reasonably priced. It's a pleasure to see a family owned business that still does things the right way for so many years. They say what they'll do, and then do what they say and more. Shifflett Tree Service are true professionals and experts in efficiency. Communication was great and they really exceeded our expectations. We needed SEVERAL branches taken down from 2 of our aged white oak trees and they were able to do the work in less than an hour from start to finish (finish including cleanup). Thank you Candace, Uncle Danny, Grandpa and highly skilled crew for making our backyard a safer area for our boys.

We had been getting bids from other tree service companies and I happened to see a Shifflett truck in our neighborhood while walking my dog. I called them and scheduled an estimate for the next day. I am so glad we went with this company.

- not really a con, but you do have to wait for Ms. Utility to come mark lines so any work can be safely done, which can take up to a a week.

Excellent tree service provided by this family-operated business, which cut down two mid-size trees and one small tree for me in May. Scheduling was quick and easy. The crew worked well together, cleaning the area throughly after job was done. Friendly, courteous service. The price was very reasonable. Highly recommend.
