I've used Raine & Sons to replace a convector and the work was done professionally. My convector works as expected; it's been 6 months it was installed.

Screwed up the job one day, said they would be back the next. Didn't show the next day. Or the next. Rude horrible customer service. Hire someone else.

I used them to connect the water line to my refrigerator based on a recommendation from Maryland Sewer & Plumbing in Baltimore. I paid a deposit in advance, yet they were 8 hours late getting to the job. They claimed they needed as many people as possible to go to an emergency at an apartment complex but didn’t have the common decency to call me to reschedule. They finally sent an employee who they had fired who brought his drug addict friend.

I had a toilet flange replaced. Parts: 1 foot of 3” PVC Pipe, 90deg elbow, a fernco clamp, and glue. $360 for those parts. You can’t tell me those parts even with REASONABLE up charge is that much. Even if you count the useage of a hammer drill, and 4 anchor bolts, STILL doesn’t come out to 360$. Don’t recommend, don’t use this company. They will steal your money right out from underneath you..

Raine & Son was hired to fix our hot water heater (not replace). We we're
billed $2,507.31 for materials. After significant fighting we gave up and paid the bill. Excerpt from correspondence from Raine & Son

"Unfortunately, our accounting software is very antiquated and we are unable to offer line itemization on our invoices which is why it shows in bulk. While we are hoping to address that soon, for the current invoice the material that was charged for is listed on the tickets. I would be more than happy to provide you with copies if you’d like. As far as listing material costs, our material is entered in bulk pricing and adjusted out in our software so I have no way of obtaining induvial prices. Again, we’re hoping to this will change soon, but I know that doesn’t help you with the current query. If you’d like the copies of the tickets that list the material used, please let me know."

I am a tenant of some apartments and received a very racist comment from your team. He said, "Speak English and you'll see how she
doesn't understand." Very arrogant and disrespectful.

During our surprise inspection, WSSC told the plumber he filed the wrong permit application - he should have filed the "long form".
To which the plumber replied, "I guess I did it old school."
    "No it's just wrong."
BURN - inspector wasn't even going to let him play it off.
These guys don't return calls. They don't tell you when inspections are scheduled. They wouldn't even move quickly to TAKE MY MONEY.

Incredibly poor follow-through and customer service. Plumbing was sloppy too, but passed inspection. There are two places where pipes jut through the space where drywall should go, making proper drywall work impossible. First they said they had to bill our credit card before they could schedule a WSSC inspection, then they took 10 days to bill us. All in all it took 5 weeks to get this project inspected and closed out because they twice failed to properly file permit applications. They would not tell us when inspections were scheduled. One was a surprise, one was an "all day" range because "the guy who scheduled that isn't in today and I can't tell you when it's scheduled for." I don't know how they stay in business. I was also told once that the delays were because, "I've got a lot of customers wanting me to do things for them right now."

We had a scheduled appointment with them between 11am and 2pm yesterday. They didn't show up. When we called they said they were still working at their first job. We called throughout the day and were given no updated time frame or details. After 6pm we had to call and tell them we were no longer available. We requested that we be their priority the first thing the next day, and THEY REFUSED. I just called and asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and they HUNG UP ON ME.

Update: They didn't hang up on my second call. This number is just for their message center and they are not allowed to give the number for THE BUSINESS. They are going to "forward my message." Terrible business operations.

Called first thing to have them clear a clogged sink. We were told we were the second job of the day. We checked in every three hours to be told the tech was not available and they could not give an estimated time. Each time they were confused we weren't a management company but a private home. We eventually canceled the service after the tech finally called at 9:45 p.m.

Try to avoid these people at your own cost. They will promise a lot and complete only half of the job. Such a waste of time and money. We will have to redo the whole project the next year. They are very unprofessional and slow.

    Don’t use these guys!

These guys were contracted by my apartment complex to fix the plumbing in the unit above mine. They arrived to begin work around 10am.

When I got home from work around 4pm, I saw this big tarp full of scraps of old rusted pipe and mysterious liquids, spread across our floor. The plumbers were moving between floors, so I didn’t get to speak with them right away. When they came back to my apartment, they assured me they were almost finished and would clean up soon. I periodically peek outside to see their vans are still outside.

7pm rolls around and I haven't seen the plumbers in hours. My wife and baby are in our bedroom since 5pm to stay away from the strong PVC glue smell. I checked outside and their vans were gone. Meanwhile, I still have this tarp full of filth occupying half my apartment. They left without cleaning up or even closing the closet doors.

I called their office to see if maybe they’d gone to the hardware store to get parts. The office had no idea where their crew was and told me they’d find out and get back to me. Needless to say, that return call never happened.

Around 9pm, I decided it was time to move on with my life and I cleaned up everything myself. I had to vacuum all the scrap pieces of ancient rusty metal that didn’t quite make it onto the tarp. I also had to use an air purifier and open all my windows to vent out the smell. To date, I still haven’t heard back from their office!

If you like shoddy customer service and cleaning up your after the contractor, these guys are the guys for you. As for me, I’ll take my money elsewhere. I used to work for a HVAC/electrical/plumbing company and we never would have treated a customer that way.

Edit: I just looked inside the closet of my apartment at the HVAC system. I added a photo of the nice pile of old insulation and rusty metal shavings the technicians left in the closet and neglected to clean.
