Constraction reviews in Silver Spring, Maryland

Capitol Hardscapes did an excellent job replacing our old asphalt driveway with permeable pavers. Chris and John Scango were helpful, informative, friendly, and responsive, answering all my questions and making sure the work was done precisely according to our wishes. Their crew, headed by Pedro, was highly skilled and always ready to explain what was going on. They cleaned up the site perfectly, left no debris at all, and coordinated well with the town's code enforcement officer and arborist to protect nearby trees. I highly recommend them and would have them back for any further work needed.

So glad I chose Capitol Hardscapes for my project including paver driveway, adjacent retaining wall and new steps connecting the driveway to my front path. It looks amazing, greatly increasing my home's curb appeal, and is extremely functional. The crew was reliable and professional, worked hard to deliver maximum aesthetics and communicated with me throughout on options and questions. Very professional job - absolutely satisfied and recommend this family-owned, local company. Lots of praise from my neighbors!

Chris, John and their crew no doubt were experienced, professional, friendly and helpful. When the crew showed up at the jobsite, they each knew their own responsibility and they complemented each others very well. Chris and John were flexible and accommodated last minute minor changes. As a result, our driveway turned out beautiful/gorgeous. Capital Hardscapes is highly recommended.

The Capitol Hardscapes team created a gorgeous walkway and steps for our front entrance. They worked to finish the job in only two days!
Also, Chris Scango, the owner was very considerate. He really listened to what we wanted and kept us closely informed about the timeline of the job.

As a landscape architect, I have experience working with several local paving/hardscape companies. I am fully satisfied with the above and beyond project management and high quality results from Capitol Hardscapes. I recommend working with Capitol Hardscapes without reservation. I am particularly impressed with their communication during construction, the seasoned talents of the crew and their intelligent approach to the numerous details involved in the project. During pre-construction, Chris listened carefully to our design intent and he brought excellent stone samples for our selection. During construction, John was on site every day. We can't say enough about the crew - any 'site surprises' were worked out flawlessly. Additionally, Capitol Hardscapes oversaw the Montgomery County Rainscape permitting and we will receive a healthy rebate. Installation was timely and as expected.

Our new retaining wall and permeable paver driveway are attractive, well built and environmentally forward. Hardscape projects are a long term and pricey investment - choosing Capitol Hardscapes was the right decision.

Chris, John, and the team from Capitol Hardscapes did amazing work, during the heat of summer, to build a paved parking pad, with new retaining wall, at my home in Northwest DC. Capitol Hardscapes was a wonderful partner and the quality of the finished product was exceptional.

The Capitol Hardscapes team was amazing from start to finish. We’re incredibly responsive and easy to work with. We couldn’t be happier with the patio and walkway they put in for us. The work was exactly as described. The team who did the actual installation were wonderful and fast. Can’t recommend Capitol Hardscapes highly enough.

Capitol Hardscapes did an A++ job for us, re-paving our walkway and driveway. Chris explained the process patiently and handled all the arrangements with MoCo's Rainscape program. Crew was very professional and tidy. Pricing was very fair.

Capitol Hardscapes did a great job replacing my rear driveway with permeable pavers. Their price was competitive. The team did a neat job replacing a 400 sqft driveway in four days. They inspected the job when it was finished, did some touchups, and left me with extra pavers and gravel if needed for the future. They are also a partner with the District's RiverSmart program. I highly recommend them!

We recently hired Capital Hardscapes to design and install a patio and outdoor fireplace, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish!

From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, their professionalism, attention to detail, and craftsmanship truly stood out. The team worked with us to design a layout that perfectly fit our backyard and lifestyle, offering great suggestions while respecting our vision and budget.

The installation process was seamless— the Capital Hardscapes crew was punctual, courteous, and kept the worksite clean every day. The quality of the materials and their meticulous craftsmanship are evident in every stone. The patio has transformed our outdoor space into a beautiful, functional area we can enjoy year-round, and the fireplace adds the perfect cozy touch.

We’ve already received so many compliments from friends and family, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. If you’re looking for a hardscape company that combines skill, reliability, and outstanding customer service, look no further than Capital Hardscapes - highly recommended!

Capitol Hardscapes repaved our front walk and created a terraced walkway down the side of our house. While their price was more or less on par with other estimates we got, their work is exceptional. John, the project manager, was extremely responsive to any questions and changes we had during the project and was great about consulting with us on important details. The finished work is beautiful.

We’re very pleased with our recent experience with Capitol Hardscapes. We had a problem with our existing concrete walkway: a slab was being pushed up by a root from a nearby tree. Capitol Hardscapes replaced the existing walkway with a beautiful flagstone walkway and steps, and without cutting the tree root. They worked quickly and were easy to communicate with. The new walkway greatly enhances the appearance of our house. We highly recommend Capitol Hardscapes.

I was impressed from my first conversation with this company representative, and their work was efficient, detailed, and professional. I appreciated the excellent communication and quality of the workmanship. From the team lead to the crew, it was a well-organized project from start to finish, and I plan to consult them again with future project. Our driveway and the retaining walls look fantastic, and it only took a few days. Hands down our best experience with a contracting company!

Capitol Hardscapes was a pleasure to work with and did a stellar job with our patio. They were honest about our options and pros and cons of the many different materials we could choose from, provided expert guidance to help us decide what would best fit our space and aesthetic, and did a great job delivering on our vision. Our patio looks great thanks to them, and pricing was transparent and fair. We would absolutely recommend working with Capitol Hardscapes if you’re looking for a great patio!

Capitol Hardscapes rebuilt our patio. It was a complicated job with multiple levels, walls, and planters. They were very responsive and sorted out all of the details before we went to contract. The final cost was predictable because everything was covered in the proposal - no change orders. I highly recommend Capitol for you next hardscapes project.

Capitol hardscapes rebuilt our walkway and porch. Guidance and communication from Chris was precise and transparent. The crew was professional and punctual. We ran into an issue and Chris’ team handled it very well. We are very happy with the end result.

Chris and the team were exceptional from start to finish. From pre project consultation, to demolition, overseeing our concrete walkway construction, and carefully regrouting our front porch slate patio, Excellent Job! Also their concrete subcontractor Pachecos Construction did an excellent job! Capitol Hardscapes highly recommended!

Capitol Hardscapes did a five-star job in replacing our patio. We worked with Chris to design the new patio, which included an expanded footprint and sitting wall with nightlights. The Capitol Hardscapes crew was very professional and did a great job with the installation. We could not be happier with our new outdoor space. I would not hesitate to recommend Capitol Hardscapes to friends and family.

It was a great experience with Capitol Hardscape installing our permeable driveway. They were one of the contractor on the Montgomery County rainscape program and had one of the best rates and experience. Working with Chris was smooth and accommodating. He was transparent on their pricing and process from beginning to end of the project. The foreman working on our project was super nice and hard working. We were very satisfy with the result of our driveway and highly recommend Capitol Hardscape!

This is our second project with Capitol Hardscapes and we have been thrilled with the results both times. Chris and his team are honest, trustworthy, and committed to doing a good job and to customer satisfaction. His crew is highly skilled and friendly. They were very responsive to any concerns and questions I had throughout the process. The results speak for themselves. (The work was finished late November - so planting in the bed will happen in the Spring.)

Roofied my toilet paper with a hospital because I said they can't cough I didn't even directly hire them they were hired by a different company.
