Helms came out today to replace two porch lights I thought weren't working. Turns out it was the switch, but I had them change out the lights, anyway. They were right on time, in and out within an hour, extremely courteous and very reasonable charge. Would recommend and will use again next time I need any electrical work done.

Bob is the kind of contractor that everybody wants and would like to work with. He is very knowledgeable about his trade, totally honest and extremely responsible. I have been using him for over 10 years. Each time he does a job for me he explains what the code requirements are, what he will do and how he will do it. He never takes shortcuts or seems to be in a hurry. His estimates are dead-on accurate, although one time he did a job for me based on a satisfactory estimate. When it came time to pay the bill, it was for less than the estimate. When I questioned him about it, he said that the job did not take as long as he thought and he passed the savings on to me. When he has an employee working with him, he makes sure that individual also works to the same high standards that he does, including a careful cleaning of the job site. You will not find a better electrician anywhere!
Called Helms Electric to run a new electrical line for an AC unit and they were willing to come out same day. The electrician was in the neighborhood already and arrived 15 minutes later, which was great! The new outlet was split from an existing one (aka a circuit extension) and only a small hole was created in the drywall. The work area was left just as clean as when he arrived and the finished product looked very professional. The electrician (and his apprentice?) was also very pleasant and neat; he explained what work was being done and why it was being done, which is always appreciated. Pricing felt competitive, but on the high-side (keeping in mind I'm tight-fisted); he was willing to honor an Angie's List coupon, which was nice. And sometimes paying just a little more for fast, professional and convenient service is worth every penny. I will gladly call for further work in the future and would recommend to my friends. Overall 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.
I AM IMPRESSED! I highly recommend using this company. They scheduled the next day, arrived on time and wore a mask at my request. Bob listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. He and his helper Blake (who is very charming) work in sync and were quick! They cleaned up afterwards as well. The pricing was very fair.
