We've worked with Top Notch twice over the last 5 years: first on a small bathroom renovation, and more recently on an extensive first-floor remodel. Both times, they've been professional, trustworthy, detail-oriented, on-time, on-budget, and a pleasure to work with. They gave us great advice about where to save money, connected us with an excellent network of vendors (architects, kitchen designers), and were always kind and responsive to any of our questions or concerns along the way. We truly enjoyed working with their full team, and we'll definitely use them for any future renovation projects.

I would recommend Top Notch to any friend looking for a general contractor. We completed a full gut renovation with an addition with Top Notch. Both Ohannes and Moses were very thorough during the quote process (we talked with 2 other builders) and it was clear they had the experience, professionalism, and team that we were looking for in our project.

Going through a massive renovation project is a bit scary, but throughout the project the whole Top Notch team was very communicative, transparent, and able to handle the inevitable challenges that come with renovation project (supply chain issues related to COVID, numerous departments within city hall, etc.) It was very helpful to have Mike N. on has our project manager. We felt very comfortable knowing he was on-site working with the various subcontractors and coordinating with our architecture/design team. He was easy to get in touch with and responsive to our feedback and requests.

Overall, we are very happy with the work that TN did for us and would highly recommend them.

I had an excellent experience working with Alex and Chris Jennings at Top Notch's electrical department! We had many light fixtures to replace and the process from beginning to end was very smooth. Alex was very detailed in not only his work but also the quotation process, ensuring an accurate estimate and no surprises during the completion of the work. Communication was excellent! They also went above and beyond, working in July heat with no A/C and squeezing in a few extra weekend hours to complete the painstaking, detailed work of attaching hundreds of crystals to a chandelier. I look forward to working with them again for future projects!

Top Notch did a fantastic job replacing the roof on our church building. The communication was great, especially with Brian our project manager. The job was done within a week, enabling us to keep our normal Sunday Gathering schedule. They listened to our needs, and got it all done without disturbing our use of the building throughout the week. Highly recommend, and we will definitely use them for more projects in years to come.

Before we started our renovation project, I told our architect that I expected that we would hate our contractor by the end of the project. After all, EVERYONE hates their contractor, right? I was assured that Top Notch was different.

Needles to say, our architect was right. We just moved into our home last week, and we absolutely LOVE Top Notch and will recommend them to anyone and everyone who will listen. They are conscientious, communicative, and most of all, SO DAMN GOOD AT THEIR JOBS.

Our project manager Brian (with some great support from Jacob) was incredibly organized and planned the project meticulously. There was never a slow day on the site and anytime we visited there was a team of subcontractors coming in and out. TWO different neighbors commented to us about how quickly our project was moving forward. The subcontractors were also incredibly skilled and committed to high quality work.

Brian was also so communicative. In addition to the monthly updates on CoConstruct as well as our bi-weekly meetings, Brian was available to us any day and time that we contacted him, even when we sent a frantic message on the weekend (sorry, Brian!!).

The entire Top Notch team was also committed to helping us achieve our goal of a net zero home. Our house was built in 1890, is attached to our neighbor's home, and to add one more hurdle, we wanted complete construction without displacing our first floor tenants who had lived there fore ~20 years. Top Notch was up to the challenge. They tackled every obstacle with creativity, diligence, and good humor. No matter what we (or the house or the city of Somerville) threw at them, they found a way forward.

Both Brian and Ohannes put quality and customer care as their top priorities. They cared deeply about the end product. They wanted us to be happy, but they also wanted to know that their work had resulted in a beautiful and high quality home. And it did! We invested a lot of our time and finances into creating the home we wanted for our family, and Brian and Ohannes more than met our expectations.

We decided on Top Notch after meeting with several contractors. Ohannes and Moses’ (owners) willingness to work with us and share ideas before we committed to them, and seeing the quality and scope of their other projects gave us the confidence that they could be trusted partners in our project.

Our Project Manager, Mike N.’s kind demeanor made the process easier. He was always available to get answers to our questions, and give advice. He also gave suggestions on construction ideas and materials along the way to ensure we would have the best experience for when we live in the home.

The team is detail oriented and has very high standards of quality. They made sure all work was done to perfection and to our satisfaction. They conducted quality checks with Ohannes and Lou frequently through the project, and we certainly appreciate the high quality construction details on a daily basis. As with any big construction project, we faced some hurdles. Top Notch has the ability to take accountability, stay true to their word, and conduct matters fairly. Their “make it right” philosophy is something appreciated very much, and solidified our trust in them. Toward the end of the project Mitch and Brian were also extremely helpful and approachable about anything and made us feel valued. If we had any concerns, Mike, along with Mitch and Brian, listened and would tackle any issue right away. We are so grateful to the team for building our home.

We hired Top Notch to perform some major renovations before we moved into our new home. They walked us through every step of the process from the beginning and we always knew what was going on. Communication is so important when working with a company and we couldn't be happier with how well they do it. The quality of their work is also top tier and they pay attention to even the small details. I would definitely use them again on any future projects that come up.

Brian and his team did a great job renovating our basement. Their work was very thorough and they completed the project on time. They were also very responsive with our various questions/requests so our experience with them from the moment we reached to the completion of the project was five stars. They also powerwashed our porch and steps after the renovation so the house wouldn't be so dusty. We highly recommend them and will definitely hire them again for our next home improvement project.

I cannot say enough good things about Moses and his crew at Top Notch. My kitchen renovation was a small job for them but I never felt like it wasn’t important. Their knowledge and perfectionism was amazing. Moses expected nothing but top quality workmanship or it was done over. Any question or concern was addressed quickly and efficiently. Our home in Charlestown, which is nearly 200 years old, required significant structural repairs. My family had to temporarily relocate for seven months while the work was underway. Despite the complexity of the project, the team completed the job on time and within budget. Even when unexpected issues arose, they were handled swiftly and professionally.

Top Notch did a fantastic job upgrading our electrical. Communication was extremely clear and proactive, a real rarity with contractors in my experience. The work they did was precise and excellent, and they went the extra mile to leave all the parts of the house that got touched better than before, even relocating some plumbing that was unexpectedly in the way of the project. We went into our renovation fully expecting the usual headaches — budget overages, timeline delays, and spotty communication — but Top Notch was great at every turn.
