I was extremely impressed by the professionalism, thoughtfulness, and expertise of Johnny and Paul when they came to assess the enormous ancient trees in our backyard. The two of them took nearly an hour out of their day just to discuss the health and safety of our trees. These guys truly care about trees and want to preserve their health and longevity, unlike some other companies which seem to be more interested in making money from cutting down trees. Johnny and Paul never pressured us in any way to hire them for their services, and gave us a very honest and helpful assessment about our trees. We couldn’t have been more impressed!

We Carpenter Costin now for the past 3 years...We have used their tree removal service and have been very happy. This year we used them to not only remove a tree but to lay an patio with pavers and run irrigation. We are very happy with the finished product and will use them again, possibly to redo the driveway and walkways

Our side and back yard project turned out better than we could have imagined! It was a pleasure to work with Johnny who was very responsive throughout the entire process and very thoughtful about the plant selection. Highly recommended!

Johnny came out to assess our Japanese maple and we were very impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, and advice. Our next visit was from Ritzy who took great care with air spading and treatment in hopes of preserving this tree. Ritzy was kind enough to share photos of the operation as he worked. Johnny also made great recommendations about other tree care issues, and followed up with a prompt visit from Sam and Luis within the week. They pruned several of our trees and were professional and efficient as well. We would recommend Johnny and crew highly.

This was the worst decision I’ve made for work at my home. I paid them 3 weeks ago and they have only completed half of the work. I hired Carpenter Costin who gave me a quote to remove 3 trees, grind all stumps, and remove all wood. The work was supposed to be completed at the end of November. They came out and cut down two trees on November 30th. When they finished for the day they asked me for the check (which I foolishly gave them) and they cashed that on December 4th. They left half the wood. After several calls they at least came back and took that away a week later. Today is December 19th and 1 of the trees is still standing and the stump work has not been completed. After calling them 3-4 times a week and being fed excuses like “you’re on the list”, “we’re shooting to be there tomorrow”, “our stump guy hasn’t shown up and we don’t know where he is” They finally informed me they would not be able to complete the work and offered me a $300 refund. A $300 refund, for the 3 stumps and 1 tree they didn’t cut down and for lying to me for three weeks. Thanks.

I’ve attached pictures of the quote and my backyard. The tree you see standing in the backyard was supposed to be cut down. Those 2 stumps are the other pieces of work they didn’t complete.

I now need to find another company to come out and finish the work that Carpenter Costin couldn’t handle.

Hartney Greymont/Davey Tree Company did an excellent job of extensive pruning of trees surrounding our house, which was a difficult job. The team listened carefully to our needs and exceeded expectations in workmanship, vision for the health of the trees, and the cleanup was flawless. Responsive, timely and did a great job. All personnel I dealt with were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Had them trim a variety of trees and shrubs on my property. They even pointed out, and addressed, some pest issues on a few trees. When a minor issue arose it was promptly acknowledged and addressed. Would definitely do business with them again and would recommend them.

Johnny went above and beyond, visiting our property multiple times when we were unsure of what we wanted. The crew even took before and after pictures for us!

This pruning crew did a terrific job, being very safety, conscious, provided careful and delicate pruning, were responsive to my requests on the spot, & did a great job cleaning up.

Hartney Greymont (recently acquired Carpenter Costin) Tree services did an excellent job again. Michael Lydon lead the project with an onsite assessment and quote - followed by Micael and Ryder completing the onsite work of Sugar Maple and ornamental shrub work pruning, cleanup and fertilization. Very pleased and highly recommend this company. Did more work in the fall with tree work and landscaping. Mulched the ground around ornamental bushes, fertilized the Maple tree and pruned it to a nice shape. Very pleased with Jonathan O'Neal managing the job and team. More work planned for 2025. Hartley Greymont is a top quality company from the sales arborist Nate to the workers Chris and Sam, and on to the office help from Mari and Bonnie. We are thrilled with the work that was completed. The men worked very hard and quite efficiently. They even worked through the rain. My yard, front and back, had expert care. I am so proud of the way my property looks. We look forward to having the team back next summer to complete stage two of our project. Great company!!! Very dependable!!!

We have worked with Josh and his team at the Danvers office for over 10 years now. We started with tree maintenance, so when we had a significant storm like yesterday there were no large branches down or damage. We also use the Hartney team for lawn care and landscape work (flower beds, seasonal maintenance and even help with our front walkway). They have helped us with many projects over the years and have turned our front yard from looking like a desert to being lush and green. We greatly appreciate the work that Josh and his team do to help maintain and protect our property.

Very efficient in removing each branch of the huge tree with many of the branches overhanging a busy road. Each crew member operated their separate equipment with precise coordination, skill and safety.

Very unprofessional company. They pruned my neighbor’s trees and made a complete mess of our newly paved road. I saw them push and drag their trailers (with hitch jacks still on the ground!) while attached to bobcats. Barbaric. I called the owner to let him know of his employees conduct and he simply replied with “I can’t control what my employees do.” I wouldn’t have evwn pisted this if I had any semblance that he would have taken my phone-call seriously.. Unbelievable.

Rudy came for a quote, and was able to communicate the current job was done early so they came to take out my tree! I was nervous it was ready to fall. Quick and efficient.
