Does not stand behind work. Starts off well but does not follow up. Does not supervise and manage quality of subs. Does not correct errors. Left at end of job without completing and has not followed up on items. Would not recommend this company.

We worked with Bob Walker, General Contractor and Partner at Construct Associates, for the design and build of an extensive renovation of our new home, beginning in January 2015. The design and estimate were thorough, well thought out. His experience in the field is obvious. He has a respect for a home's history and the neighborhood in terms of design/architecture. Yes, the estimate was higher than we expected, but Mr. Walker's detailed spreadsheet/explanation of costs accounted for many things that other companies we interviewed did not. We also knew a few of his clients, were able to see some previous work, and they all were consistent in praising Mr. Walker's honesty, experience, and standing by his work. Mr. Walker was practical & straightforward. A few items ended up being less, a few were more, but the costs did not go much over the original estimate we were given up front. Friends doing similar work at the same time with another company we interviewed were hit with many "surprise" extra costs, and more stress. Once Mr. Walker starts a job, he does not stop until it's complete. They are very timely and organized. His Head Carpenter/Project Manager, Terry Heffernan, was professional, talented, hard-working, and neat. They completely stand behind their work and are perfectionists. As a new homeowner and renovation "newbie," Mr. Walker & Mr. Heffernan noticed imperfections that I did not, and re-did them. Bob Walker ran his subs like a well oiled machine, and you could see they had a long-time relationship with him. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that, mid-way through our project, I brought in an experienced designer to help me more quickly and efficiently choose colors & materials (for items that Mr. Walker honestly told me he couldn't help with), and Mr. Walker did have trouble adapting to/accepting some of her ideas. He had not worked with her before. She suggested (and I agreed to) some subtle changes to some of Mr. Walker's yet to be implemented design plans, and he had difficulty listening to other options. But after some time, he accepted these changes, and acknowledged that he liked the finished product. They were simply two confident, experienced designers with different styles, but it all worked out in the end, and our home reflected my style. I would recommend (and have recommended) Bob Walker to close friends. Two years after our initial renovations began, we have had no problems with the quality of the work (including carpentry, flooring, electric, plumbing, HVAC, painting among others), and will hopefully be seeing the Construct team again soon, as we are planning another phase of renovations.

We wanted more light in our living room and the folks at Construct designed a wall of windows that fit the décor and angles of our room beautifully. We were impressed with how well everyone on the team worked together and with the high quality of workmanship they exhibited. The dusty mess we anticipated never happened. Our furniture and floors were covered with plastic and cloths and a vac was used to clean up. The living room was less dusty when they left than when they arrived! We recently had an energy audit done and the thermo sensor indicated that the windows were installed well and that there was no air leakage. We are VERY pleased with our windows and feel fortunate that we followed a friend's lead to use Construct.

I want to share my story because I would have been a returning client however I experienced terrible customer service working with Stephen. I’m not sure what’s going on over there, but the proposed designs for my renovation project had several elements that I did not ask for. The interaction between the designer and Stephen was awkward, no one seemed prepared or took my tight deadline for the project seriously. What’s more shocking is what I was charged for the designs I was presented with. When I asked for an itemized bill, there was no response. $1700+ for an incompetent design proposal is ridiculous and unexpected. In my experience, Construct Associates lacked communication, attention to detail and basic customer service.
