I purchased a load of stone for my 76 year-old mother's vegetable and flower gardens from GT Excavations Corporation. George and his brother went out of their way to help my mother and I with our small project, even opening their gate during hours when they are normally closed. Pricing for the stone was also generous. GT Excavations Corp clearly prioritizes their customer's experience rather than their own profits, a refreshing conclusion in an ever-encroaching corporate America. I highly recommend GT Excavations Corp!
The negative experience I had with this company was so all encompassing that I'm shocked they're even in business. Literally nothing about the entire process was even remotely more than a 1 star performance. They were hired by the sellers of a home I purchased to replace the septic system. Rick, the lead guy, was a very poor communicator. It was like he was going to try and do the entire project without talking to me at all initially. Finally I get the guy to agree to a start date, but then afterward nobody on the crew could even say "hi" throughout the entire day. It was honestly uncomfortable even having them around. They were so awkward and unprofessional. Even blocking my wife's car in multiple times and just leaving it there until we asked for them to move. Our driveway is huge and there was plenty of room for this to not have to happen yet it did over and over. On to the next issue. They said they had to "trim" some trees back to get through my backyard and I agreed. They take the bucket of the excavator and just run it down the sides of my trees absolutely trashing them. They even left large sized limbs just dangling there waiting to fall on one of my kids. They destroyed around four trees that the previous owner said he'd planted over 30 years ago along with ten or so arborvitaes. Still not done. Rick then tells me they're not going to fill the old septic tank since it's under the deck. I suggested that seems unsafe and Rick assured me that it's no big deal. Halfway through the conversation I just had this bad feeling that he was intentionally lying to me. He just kept stumbling over his words and couldn't make eye contact. Sure enough when I called the town inspector they agreed it was unsafe and against code. I had to have the inspector call Rick to force him into following code and after that Rick and the entire team became even more uncommunicative. The guy was actively trying to avoid me at that point. So because of the complete lack of communication I had no idea when they would need my plumber to be there. The day they needed him Rick just says he'll tie in the plumbing himself. I thought "oh, maybe he's understanding my experience here and he's trying to make up for it." Wrong. The guy ties in the plumbing so far out of code it looked like a teenager did it. My plumber came through last minute that day and just told them to stop what they were doing and he had to go back and fix it. The plumbing they had done would absolutely have led to major issues in the future. But, wait, there's more! They did a very mediocre job re-grading my lawn and the reseed was a joke. I watched the guy scurry through the yard as quickly as possible putting down barely any seed. On top of that the back fill and grading they did around the septic tank was awful. I now have a very defined rectangle with sides that go about 8-10 inches below grade in my yard. It's like they didn't even try to hide it. Finally, the cherry on top was the leech field vent. The infamous candy cane that you end up with in your yard. They decided to put it about six feet away from the wood line so I have this ugly candy cane sticking up 3 feet out of the ground. They could have dug this trench another six feet and completely hid this thing in the woods, but they were in such a rush to just get out of here that they left it. They didn't even tell me when they were done. They just packed up and left. I needed paperwork for my home loan that proved the work was done and weeks went by without any contact from the company. Finally we get ahold of them and it's like pulling teeth to get him to give us the document. Every single facet of hiring a company to do your septic system went very poorly with this company. Again, I'm shocked they're even in business. The worst contracting experience I've ever had, honestly.
We hired George from Gt excavating corp to level and hydroseed our front yard. George and Santino, we're both professional and quick with the job. George paid attention to detail and repeatedly checked in with us to make sure it was being done to our liking. We are beyond happy with our decision to hire Gt excavating corp. We will be definitely calling again for our next project. Thank you again for the awsome job and understanding our vision for our yard.
Good honest people!!
