Reviews of local pros in Somerville, Massachusetts

Execution and taste level are top notch! Creative, hard working, clear consistent communication, ability to pivot and prioritize and a sense of urgency when you need it most. Please don't keep them too busy or else I won't be able to book when I need!

It is such a pleasure to work with Jen on any outdoor planting projects. Jen is so strong!!! At the same time she has a wonderfully delcate touch in the garden. Her suggestions always involve such graceful additions. She created a spiral from old bricks I didn't know what to do with! And made a beautiful trellis of branches and copper wire for the clematis out front. It's been up at least 5 years and holding up beautifully!

Professional and creative. Took my yard and created a beautiful garden from start to finish. Design options, suggestions and solutions that exceeded our expectations! We love our garden!

We recently linked up with Jen and her team @ Gardener on the Hill. And our experience has been nothing but amazing. We have a small woodworking/carpentry division and have been lucky enough to be part of some very unique designs and projects that wouldn’t have been possible without their vision and design expertise. Excited to see what the future brings. Highly recommend!

Jen truly is a garden whisperer! She transformed our small city dirt plots into gorgeous gardens that surprise us from early spring through late fall with thoughtfully arranged native plants and flowers. Passersby are always sharing accolades and taking pictures. When we travel, one of the things we look forward to most on returning is seeing how the garden has transformed while we've been away. Jen is a pleasure to work with. She spends time to teach us how to care for our gardens and is always available when we need help with larger spring and fall cleanups. We highly recommend her!

Jen is an incredibly thoughtful and intuitive designer who was such a pleasure to work with. Her eye for detail and creative problem solving made her stand out compared to other consultations I had. I wanted a very natural and wild feel to my garden with as many native plants as possible. It was also important that my garden provided winter interest and evolved with the seasons and Jen did just that! I’d highly recommend Gardener on the Hill to anyone who is looking to enhance their green space and wants to work with one on one with a bespoke gardening company that cares. Thanks so much!

I highly recommend Miltons Landscaping. They did an absolutely beautiful job!! Francesco is so kind and helpful. We will definitely use them again!

This company came.to property and did a great job with pavers sodding yard Great job I woundnt headache to call Connolly’s bris landscaping

I contacted them to put in a sprinkler system. They did a great job.

They always do a good job on my yard. They have very reasonable prices.

Did a great job on my patio. They even got rid rid of my extra junk i had lying around. I'd definetly use them again.

Hired these guys for an overhaul of our condo building's flowerbeds last fall. They were prompt and helpful. I asked about ongoing maintenance, and they told me they had added me to their spring call list. Fast forward to spring and nothing. I figure they forgot us or expect us to call to schedule, no problem. I call and leave a voicemail. I forget about for a while. Never get a call back. I text the person I'd been in direct communication with before. No response. I submit a message through their "contact us" page online. No response. Today, after weeks of trying to chase them down, I called and finally got someone on the phone, and he hung up on me after a few seconds. I paid promptly last fall, had only pleasant interactions with them, and have zero explanation for their behavior. Worst customer service around!

I used the Connolly Bros team to come out and totally redo a backyard. They installed hardscaping, a few trees, sod and an irrigation system. They also moved some shrubs I was keen on keeping that have done great through the transition. I really appreciated how receptive they were to incorporate small changes I wanted and also the amount of communication to let me know the status on the project. They also gave me a clear understanding of what the pavers would look like ahead of time. The services for the price are well worth it! I would definitely give them a call for your landscape needs.

When you want the best of engineer trained owners and best of current market product, there is no other choice. Well trained craft persons, kind & clean. New roof +++. When they leave you House smiles and the value increases.

I meet with Emanuel C. tomorrow to review a very difficult. & challenging church roof problem.I love the way they do business. Very much to the point. The two owners have an engineering degree from the same local _______Institute of Technology. It shows in how they approach every project as special & unique. Elizabeth, the Coordinator answers the phone and is also very savvy and accommodsting. Could they WANT to take your project, second guessing them is unnecessary. Just, relax and be kind and accommodating to their work force. We provided beverages and snacks to the crew members. They bring all their own innl preparation for all their employees needs.
********** 10 STAR COMPANY. Be prepared to honor your financial agreement. Their product and results are warranted. Bonus is their clean up ethic. They will put a smile on the results so you feel secure and validated.

We have used ICS for several exterior projects at 2 different properties. Both times our siding turned out awesome and all of the issues we had with our old siding and window materials were remedied. No more leaks!

My husband and I engaged Mike and ICS for a complete exterior remodel on our duplex in Cambridge, which included (i) installing James Hardie siding and Azek trim, (ii) rebuilding our rotten back porch with composite decking and railings, (iii) installing roofing shingles on the mansard portion of our roof, (iv) removing insulation in our attic that had previously been improperly installed between the rafters by a prior owner, (v) installing new front and back doors, and (vi) installing new interior trim around the front and back door. We are so pleased with the final result and would definitely recommend ICS to anyone in the Cambridge/Somerville area looking for an exterior renovation/siding contractor.

Given the high demand for siding contractors, we were worried that the project wouldn't be able to commence until well into the Summer of 2023, but Mike was able to fit in our project for the end of November 2022, which was great. Mike served as our primary point of contact and was communicative, easy-going and a pleasure to work with. He demonstrated a high level of expertise, as did his lead contractor on the project, and both were helpful in offering design suggestions for the back deck and trim. Even working through the cold months of November and December, the crew was on site nearly every day promptly at 8am (even the pretty cold days where we didn't expect them) and Mike was great about letting us know if they weren't coming. Mike and his crew were also very professional, even when dealing with some cranky neighbors, and took care to keep the worksite clean and as unobtrusive as possible for us and the neighbors.

We ended up adding on the interior trim install to the project (which had to be re-installed as a result of replacing the front and back door that we were previously planning to do ourselves) and Mike and his crew were super easy going about the change order and didn't overcharge us.

We appreciated that Mike and his team had ample experience in Cambridge. During our initial meeting with Mike to discuss the project and obtain a quote, he provided us with a long list of properties where they had installed Hardie siding denoting the color, which was very helpful and reflected that ICS stood behind its work.

Thank you ICS for making our home look so beautiful!

Mike and his crew at ICS did an excellent job on a really big job: siding our 6-unit house with Hardie board, installing and framing new windows and doors, painting, gutters, and more. They were very responsive and professional throughout, taking care of every detail in a timely way. We received so many compliments on the house while they were working on it and afterward, and a number of people contacted them for estimates after seeing our place. All that, and nice guys, too!

Mike and his team are the best of the best. Their price was very competitive with other bids, so if I were you, I would not even shop around. The job was completed to perfection, and it was a big job with a lot of complications. Mike was unbelievably flexible and helpful. It was like working with a family member. I had every confidence that he used the same care that would be used if it were his own home. The crew were always friendly and polite, and they left the site in great condition. I've done quite a bit of renovation-type work and this was by far the best experience I've ever had.

Mike was so easy to work with. They completed a project to re-side and replace all the trim on my home, not a small job. Mike communicated regularly so I always knew where things stood and the finished project was exactly what we were hoping for. Would absolutely hire them again.

When you can start a review with the word HONEST in it you have found a someone great to deal with. Mike is the most easy and most helpful contractor I have had the pleasure to work with. I assure you will not be disappointed in choosing ICS. Mike has a very disciplined team that is committed to getting the project completed. Mike is always at ready for any question a customer may have. Mike is extremely helpful for suggestions for the project.I would highly recommend ICS to any home owner thinking of a new home project. Many thanks Mike for a job well done!
