I have used Hancock Chimney Service for over 25 years. They take care of my wood-burning fireplace and my gas fireplace in my current home. Wait times for appointments are a little bit longer these days but definitely worth it. Reliable, professional, on time, pleasant to deal with. They always get it right. I won’t use anyone else.

From the first contact with the office staff (Christine) to schedule the first appointment, to the appointment day and the conversation with Earl about the issue with our chimney. It was as easy, efficient, professional and we feel our issues we are experiencing with our chimney will be reduced. Earl was very professional and knowledgeable. We received the estimate within an hour of his visit and we scheduled to have the work completed.

Extremely expensive. Got a second opinion for $165 cheaper for an inspection. Wants to charge us $6500 for repairs that we can get done for less than half of that thru another company. Kept talking about hearth not meeting code. It did when house was built. Not remodeling to please them. Just needed our fireplace/chimney inspected. I feel ripped off.

Hancock Chimney Services came and gave me an estimate on my chimney. They were a little late on the time they were supposed to arrive but called in advance to let me know what the issue was. Once at my home they were knowledgeable, polite, and respectful of my home. The estimate was extremely thorough and broken down into parts that I could have done.

I decided to go with this company to fix what needed to be repaired in my chimney. They were on time and got right to work. They are pleasant people who work hard and do what needs to in order to complete the job. I will happily let my family and friends know of their excellent work.

While working on my house there was a couple neighbors who have stopped by to ask the guys if they can work on their homes as well. Word of mouth and their vans helped get them more jobs to do in the future. :)

We had them inspect our chimney and they told us it was good to use, but were not very helpful in showing us how exactly to use it properly even though we made it clear we were new owners.

After calling a family member for help we also learned that the damper clamp was installed backwards and therefore did not make the chimney ready for use as it was not balanced properly to open and close for proper venting.

We also asked for a dryer vent cleaning and were told that we should have the venting redone since it was not up to code. This meant it could not be cleaned, so we got that taken off of the invoice.

All in all I would say that Hancock was helpful in answering some questions, but the obvious miss of the damper clamp does make me worry about the other parts of our inspection.

Hancock Chimney Service was recommended to us from a friend, and we are very happy with their service. Not only were they prompt and professional, they laid floor coverings down on every part of the carpet they would be walking on. The explanation of findings was easy to understand and all our questions, answered. The quality of their work is remarkable! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Our home was left clean. I am pleased with the work that was done.

Great crew who arrived on tiime. Checked both fireplace stacks with their camera. Cleaned main floor fireplace and stack. As usual, expertly done with superb results.
They also checked my dryer vent and found it was not necessary to do a full clean. Next year we will look at it again.
Superb crew to work with. Knew their joob and did it well. I would recomment Hancock to anyone in need of a chimney sweep, or just an inspection. Nice people to have work on my chimneys.Thank You. I will be using you again.

This is an update to review published below:
July 2020 two technicians came out and thankfully, made things right. :) They did a sweep on our chimney (which was included as part of the expensive creosote treatment done beginning of this last burning season) and I'm happy to report that pics shown to us after the sweep show a beautifully cleaned chimney! The powdered creosote treatments worked! Due to the difficulties I'd had with the last technician that was here, and the inconsistencies in communication, they gave me, free of charge, a bottle of treatment to use each time we burn, to keep the creosote from building up again. They also fixed a few cracks in the burn box and are coming back to fix an old outdated vent/ash receptacle -- all at no charge. I greatly appreciate that these things not caught in the first inspection (with the previous tech) were found and fixed this time at no cost. This is a company with integrity making things right! We'll use Hancock again for our seasonal chimney sweeps.

Previous review:
We had Hancock evaluate the fireplace and chimney on the home we moved into. We feel they know what they are doing & did a quality job of repairing and treating the problems so that we could have a safe and enjoyable experience with our fireplace! However, we were told slightly different things by servicemen who came in person and those who spoke to us on the phone, both about treatments and about price. On site person gave us a quote of anywhere between $450-$800, then two separate people on the phone from Hancock assured me that it “shouldn’t at all be at the high-end of that quote.” Of course after the work was done the total came to $798 which of course is at the very high end of the quote. We paid a lot more than we wanted to, but it does include a sweep at the end of the burning season, so hopefully all in all it still works out to be good value. Just wish we hadn’t been told such different things about costs, and we don’t really like having a quote with an almost $400 range. If you schedule work with them, I would suggest nailing down a price prior to work being done.

Team arrived on time and showed up professionally. The guys were very courteous with regards to keeping things clean, they knew their stuff (code, etc.) and they did a very thorough job. Great experience all the way around.

The Hancock inspector was professional and friendly. He took me through all of the corrections that must be made to our flue and chimney. I was very impressed with his level of expertise and he earned my immediate trust to make our chimney and indoor environment safe. We have made arrangements to have the recommended work done by Hancock.

We recently bought a home and didn’t know the history of the fireplace. We had it inspected just to be safe and were very impressed with Hancock Chimney Service. The technician (Jason) was very knowledgeable, and it was obvious that he was very experienced in his trade. Will definitely use their service again in the future!

I needed help desperately getting my gas fireplace fixed as it kept going out. I had never used Hancock before and wasn’t sure if they even could help me but I tried! They had someone come over within 2 hours due to a cancellation. And fixed it for me! Staff was so nice and technician was as well! They saved my Day! Thanks Hancock!

Only great things to say about our whole experience with Hancock Chimney/Earl & his son. I scheduled with them for our daughter's chimney removal.
They went above and beyond expectations on every aspect!
So rare these days, and was so appreciated!
Her chimney removal seemed like a huge project, but was necessary for her upcoming bathroom renovation. Hancock made it so easy on her - done in just one day, left the house SO clean (wouldn't have even known they were there) and the project came in well under the price they had quoted.

Hancock installed a new crown on my chimney and it looks great and was a reasonable price. The employees were helpful, responsive, and communication throughout the whole process was very good.

I have additional work scheduled for next month already and have no doubts that it will be done correctly and yield a great result.

Very friendly and everything was straightforward. All questions were answered and it seemed like the job was completed professionally.
They provided quotes for what needed repaired and told us which things were critical and which could wait a little bit. We felt zero pressure to commit to any of their quotes but will definitely use them for one of the repairs in a few months. Glad they saw it before it started causing problems. Would recommend.

I was very impressed with the care they took two protect the house inside as they did their inspection. The technicians were very friendly and knowledgeable about their jobs. They explained the condition of the inside of the fire box and chimney and their recommendations to make repairs. They used a camera going up the chimney to explain what was going on. I would recommend them very highly.
