Called to ask for a quote and was told they would contact me to schedule an estimate and never received a call. Called back a couple days later and had to give them all my information again. The lady on the phone said she would talk to someone and get back to me. They called later that day and said they were not interested. They never even came out to see the project. I was looking to have the ground leveled, hydro-seeded and underground sprinkling installed. Very disappointing, at least see what the project entails before turning away paying customers.

We love this company! They are extremely knowledgable, professional and do a great job. We've used them for small and large projects and have been happy every time. I'm especially impressed with their landscape design capabilities and have a high level of confidence in the direction and cost for the projects they have taken on.

This company is literally garbage. EVERYONE that my wife and I have talked to there are so rude, how they even have a company still running is beyond me. The receptionist will literally act like she doesn't know anything and tells you they'll get back to you. But three weeks later, here we are still no call back or email. So we call a few more times and Mike, the designer and person sent to our property for an estimate, says he thinks he can help us by removing our docks which turns out to be something they don't even do, FINALLY calls us back today after calling them TWICE today tells us "this isn't his cup of tea". If you want a reliable company, this isn't it. If you want honesty and people who will give you the time of day and not waste your time while you have that said property on the market, this isn't it. Truly horrible experience.

Alex didn't try to sell us; he helped us solve our design challenge, and did so within our budget. We LOVE the new space, and if we ever upgrade, we know who to call.

Won't give a quote without a deposit. No free quotes? I called 6 different landscapers to quote a retaining wall. All the other landscapers I called came out, looked at the slope, measured, asked about materials, and gave me a quote on what it would cost. It was easy. Not Rivertown. Mike told me he would not give a quote until I signed a contract for work and gave a deposit on the job. He said he would need to draw up an entire landscaping plan first, send someone else out to measure, etc, but only AFTER I put a deposit down. I specifically asked him why I would do that if I wasn't even sure I wanted to go with his company. He said drawing up a plan costs money. That is true, but no other landscaper needed a full drafted plan, only simple measurements of how long and how high. I asked him why he was coming out to the property at all to tell me that when he could have told me that on the phone or via email. It was a waste of time. I drove out of my way to go to the property and meet him so he could measure the site in order to create a quote. He had no plans to measure at that first meeting. Don't go to Rivertown unless you are ok with putting down a deposit BEFORE getting your quote for the job.

A few years after we purchased our house on Lake Michigan, we sought a local landscaping company to redesign our property with a focus on native plantings. Our search took us to Rivertown Landscapes. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Rivertown and the recreation of our property is nothing short of spectacular. We have been extremely pleased with Rivertown’s ways of working with us from the beginning to the end of our project. From our designer to our installers to the office staff—all wonderful people who do this work extremely well. The design and selection of plantings worked perfectly to reflect our aesthetics and meet the needs of our family (our children, grand children, and dogs!). The plant stock was first rate. The installation was done with utmost care and consideration. We hold Rivertown in the highest regard and strongly recommend the company to others.

We worked with Mike and his group on a very large project at our home. They were great about incorporating what we wanted with a complicated site. The end product is beautiful and we have been very happy with his work and follow up over the past few years since completion of the project. Thank you Mike and crew!

Absolute terrible experience with this company. It started out with calling this company that claims to do shoreline work. Mike went out to my house for an estimate and had a bunch of ideas. He told me he'd write up an estimate and get back to me. After not hearing from him for several days I reached back out to the company, and he told me he'd have my estimate back to me that afternoon or the next day. A few more days go by and no estimate. I called the company again, left a message for Mike. Another week goes by, I have to reach out for the third time just to get the estimate, only for Mike to tell me that what I'm looking for "isn't their cup of tea" AFTER we had a phone conversation, and him detailing everything he could do. If he didn't want to take on the simple project (all of which he said he could do), he should have told me the day he was at my house and speaking with me on the phone, instead of wasting more than 3 weeks of my time.

We would highly recommend Rivertown Landscapes for your landscaping needs! My wife and I moved into a house on Lake Bella Vista in August of 2019, which had a 100’ of beautiful beach. Much to our surprise, by the end of September all the beach sand was in the lake due to water run-off. How disappointing! We had quotes from a variety of landscape companies and took the winter to decide. After much research, we decided on Rivertown Landscapes. The owner, Mike, reviewed the plans of putting in drains by the house and the beach. We agreed. Once it was done, it was beautiful, and I paid the bill in full. A few days later, we had a large rain and there was a huge run off by one of the steps leading to the beach, creating a trough of pea-stone from the sitting area onto the beach and a large amount of sand gone into the water. We called Mike and he came right out. After reviewing damage, he brought his crew back (on his dime) they brought in yards of sand and pea gravel to replace what was lost. They then dug two additional drains in the yard and then brought in yards of topsoil to create a small slope from the beach to these new drains. A few days after it was complete, we had another large rain and it worked like a charm! I trust a contractor that stands behind his work and will hire Rivertown Landscapes for my next landscaping project.

I met Mike today for the first time in person. He's great and has a LOT of experience. The work his company has done is beautiful. If you're looking for someone to do your next project I would highly recommend Rivertown Landscapes!

Mike and his company came highly recommended by friend and local contractor. Being a building contractor myself I felt that Mike's professionalism was a sure match.
We went through several plans until the plan met our needs and budget.
Once started, the project was running well but with some concerns on my part. With a simple phone call and some site discussions any of my detailed concerns were soon worked out.
Mike, Dan and the employees were all very cooperative and respectful of my needs and to my property.
I will, (and have) referred Rivertown to friends and colleagues.

The team at Rivertown Landscapes provided us with the backyard of our dreams. They were very responsive to all our ideas and professional in every way. Even when the project hit a few unexpected snags, they had easy solutions. From the design to the installation, they are top-notch.

We were excited to work with Rivertown Landscapes initially and had hoped to use them for multiple projects. Unfortunately, we found there was poor attention to detail with our Fall installation of a new yard (garden beds and lawn) - they cut corners and rushed the job. We agreed to wait until Spring to address the issues (plants paid for but missing, poorly spaced plants, bare lawn that wasn't growing in). When Spring came, we experienced very poor communication and the recurring tendency to overpromise and under-deliver. On more than one occasion we could not get the staff assigned to our job to reply to our emails. One person would only reply to my husband. I found working with Rivertown Landscapes to be a stressful experience and we do not recommend them.

We could not have been happier with the opportunity to work with Rivertown Landscapes. From the initial call, to the first visit, to the design process and final results we are over the top happy with our project. They stayed in budget, were on time with everything, and the crew was phenomenal. (I even baked them cookies twice!) We love our new outdoor space and will go to Rivertown again for any and all
landscaping needs/wants.

Rivertown has been amazing to do work with. We love what they have done with our landscape around the house!!! And can’t wait to work with them to do our landscaping around our pool!! We signed up for the biweekly bed maintenance and the techs have been amazing at communicating how things are growing. Can’t wait to work with them in the future!!

We hired Mike and the team at Rivertown to rebuild our front entry walkway and landing, build a new rear patio with a pergola and fire pit, redesign the landscape surrounding the front of our house, find a creative solution to hide our generator from view, and create landscaping surrounding the new patio. The entire team was very thoughtful throughout the design and estimating process, leading us to a solution that accomplished all our objectives and helping us understand the cost tradeoffs. The entire construction team was extremely professional and demonstrated a high attention to detail. The landscaping crews, led by Skip and Adam worked around several surprise challenges (such as a long buried hot tub) and accommodated the needs of our son with special needs. The masonry crew led by Dave was meticulous in every detail, especially regrading the landing in front. The team was pro-active in pointing out additional needs and opportunities, such as improved drainage and updates to our irrigation system. Our project took a bit longer than expected due to some surprises after we did the initial demolition and the team’s focus on ensuring every stone was laid correctly. We’ve enjoyed spending time under the pergola and around the fire pit. Meanwhile, the neighbors have complemented the transformation of our front yard! Thanks Rivertown!
